וַיַּ֤עַשׂ אָסָא֙ הַטּ֣וֹב וְהַיָּשָׁ֔ר בְּעֵינֵ֖י יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהָֽיו׃

Καὶ ἀπέθανεν Ἀβιὰ μετὰ τῶν πατέρων αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἔθαψαν αὐτὸν ἐν πόλει Δαυεὶδ · καὶ ἐβασίλευσεν Ἀσὰ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ ἀντ᾽ αὐτοῦ. ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις Ἀσὰ ἡσύχασεν γῆ Ἰούδα ἔτη δέκα.

Fecit autem Asa quod bonum et plácitum erat in conspéctu Dei sui, et subvértit altária peregríni cultus, et excélsa.

וַיָּ֛סַר אֶת־מִזְבְּח֥וֹת הַנֵּכָ֖ר וְהַבָּמ֑וֹת וַיְשַׁבֵּר֙ אֶת הַ־מַּצֵּב֔וֹת וַיְגַדַּ֖ע אֶת הָ־אֲשֵׁרִֽים׃

καὶ ἐποίησεν τὸ καλὸν καὶ τὸ εὐθὲς ἐνώπιον Κυρίου θεοῦ αὐτοῦ.

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר֙ לִֽיהוּדָ֔ה לִדְר֕וֹשׁ אֶת־יְהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֣י אֲבוֹתֵיהֶ֑ם וְלַעֲשׂ֖וֹת הַתּוֹרָ֥ה וְהַמִּצְוָֽה׃

καὶ ἀπέστησεν τὰ θυσιαστήρια τῶν ἀλλοτρίων καὶ τὰ ὑψηλά, καὶ συνέτριψεν τὰς στήλας καὶ ἐξέκοψεν τὰ ἄλση,

et præcépit Iudæ ut quǽreret Dóminum Deum patrum suórum, et fáceret legem, et univérsa mandáta:

וַיָּ֨סַר֙ מִכָּל־עָרֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֔ה אֶת הַ־בָּמ֖וֹת וְאֶת הַֽ־חַמָּנִ֑ים וַתִּשְׁקֹ֥ט הַמַּמְלָכָ֖ה לְפָנָֽיו׃

καὶ εἶπεν τῷ Ἰούδᾳ ἐκζητῆσαι τὸν κύριον θεὸν τῶν πατέρων αὐτῶν καὶ ποιῆσαι τὸν νόμον καὶ τὰς ἐντολάς.

וַיִּ֛בֶן עָרֵ֥י מְצוּרָ֖ה בִּיהוּדָ֑ה כִּֽי־שָׁקְטָ֣ה הָאָ֗רֶץ וְאֵין עִמּ֤־וֹ מִלְחָמָה֙ בַּשָּׁנִ֣ים הָאֵ֔לֶּה כִּֽי־הֵנִ֥יחַ יְהוָ֖ה לֽוֹ׃

καὶ ἀπέστησεν ἀπὸ πασῶν τῶν πόλεων Ἰούδα τὰ θυσιαστήρια καὶ τὰ εἴδωλα, καὶ εἰρήνευσεν.

Ædificávit quoque urbes munítas in Iuda, quia quiétus erat, et nulla tempóribus eius bella surréxerant, pacem Dómino largiénte.

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר לִֽיהוּדָ֜ה נִבְנֶ֣ה ׀ אֶת הֶ־עָרִ֣ים הָאֵ֗לֶּה וְנָסֵ֨ב חוֹמָ֣ה וּמִגְדָּלִים֮ דְּלָתַ֣יִם וּבְרִיחִים֒ עוֹדֶ֨נּוּ הָאָ֜רֶץ לְפָנֵ֗ינוּ כִּ֤י דָרַ֨שְׁנוּ֙ אֶת־יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ דָּרַ֕שְׁנוּ וַיָּ֥נַֽח לָ֖נוּ מִסָּבִ֑יב וַיִּבְנ֖וּ וַיַּצְלִֽיחוּ׃ פ

πόλεις τειχήρεις ἐν γῇ Ἰούδα, ὅτι εἰρήνευσεν γῆ · καὶ οὐκ ἦν αὐτῷ πόλεμος ἐν τοῖς ἔτεσιν τούτοις, ὅτι κατέπαυσεν αὐτῷ Κύριος.

Dixit autem Iudæ: Ædificémus civitátes istas, et vallémus muris, et roborémus túrribus, et portis, et seris, donec a bellis quiéta sunt ómnia, eo quod quæsiérimus Dóminum Deum patrum nostrórum, et déderit nobis pacem per gyrum. Ædificavérunt ígitur, et nullum in exstruéndo impediméntum fuit.

Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about [them] walls, and towers, gates, and bars, [while] the land [is] yet before us; because we have sought the LORD our God, we have sought [him], and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered.

וַיְהִ֣י לְאָסָ֗א חַיִל֮ נֹשֵׂ֣א צִנָּ֣ה וָרֹמַח֒ מִֽיהוּדָה֙ שְׁלֹ֣שׁ מֵא֣וֹת אֶ֔לֶף וּמִבִּנְיָמִ֗ן נֹשְׂאֵ֤י מָגֵן֙ וְדֹ֣רְכֵי קֶ֔שֶׁת מָאתַ֥יִם וּשְׁמוֹנִ֖ים אָ֑לֶף כָּל־אֵ֖לֶּה גִּבּ֥וֹרֵי חָֽיִל׃ ס

καὶ εἶπεν τῷ Ἰούδᾳ Οἰκοδομήσωμεν τάς πόλεις ταύτας, καὶ ποιήσωμεν τείχη καὶ πύργους καὶ πύλας καὶ μοχλούς, ἐνώπιον τῆς γῆς κυριεύσομεν · ὅτι καθὼς ἐζητήσαμεν Κύριον θεὸν ἡμῶν, ἐξεζήτησεν ἡμᾶς, καὶ κατέπαυσεν ἡμᾶς κυκλόθεν καὶ εὐόδωσεν ἡμῖν.

Hábuit autem Asa in exércitu suo portántium scuta et hastas de Iuda trecénta míllia, de Béniamin vero scutariórum et sagittariórum ducénta octogínta míllia: omnes isti viri fortíssimi.

And Asa had an army [of men] that bare targets and spears, out of Judah three hundred thousand; and out of Benjamin, that bare shields and drew bows, two hundred and fourscore thousand: all these [were] mighty men of valour.

וַיֵּצֵ֨א אֲלֵיהֶ֜ם זֶ֣רַח הַכּוּשִׁ֗י בְּחַ֨יִל֙ אֶ֣לֶף אֲלָפִ֔ים וּמַרְכָּב֖וֹת שְׁלֹ֣שׁ מֵא֑וֹת וַיָּבֹ֖א עַד־מָרֵשָֽׁה׃

καὶ ἐγένετο τῷ Ἀσὰ δύναμις ὁπλοφόρων αἰρόντων θυρεοὺς καὶ δόρατα ἐν γῇ Ἰούδα τριακόσιαι χιλιάδες, καὶ ἐν γῇ Βενιαμεὶν πελτασταὶ καὶ τοξόται διακόσιαι καὶ πεντήκοντα χιλιάδες, πάντες οὗτοι πολεμισταὶ δυνάμεως.

Egréssus est autem contra eos Zara Æthiops cum exércitu suo, décies centéna míllia, et cúrribus trecéntis: et venit usque Marésa.

וַיֵּצֵ֥א אָסָ֖א לְפָנָ֑יו וַיַּֽעַרְכוּ֙ מִלְחָמָ֔ה בְּגֵ֥יא צְפַ֖תָה לְמָרֵשָֽׁה׃

καὶ ἐξῆλθεν ἐπ᾽ αὐτοὺς Ζάρε Αἰθίοψ ἐν δυνάμει, ἐν χιλιάσιν καὶ ἅρμασιν τριακοσίοις, καὶ ἦλθεν ἕως Μαρισήλ.

καὶ ἐξῆλθεν Ἀσὰ εἰς συνάντησιν αὐτῷ, καὶ παρετάξατο πόλεμον ἐν τῇ φάραγγι κατὰ βορρᾶν Μαρείσης.

et invocávit Dóminum Deum, et ait: Dómine non est apud te ulla distántia, utrum in paucis auxiliéris, an in plúribus. Adiuva nos Dómine Deus noster: in te enim, et in tuo nómine habéntes fidúciam, venímus contra hanc multitúdinem. Dómine, Deus noster tu es, non præváleat contra te homo.

And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD, [it is] nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou [art] our God; let not man prevail against thee.

וַיִּגֹּ֤ף יְהוָה֙ אֶת הַ־כּוּשִׁ֔ים לִפְנֵ֥י אָסָ֖א וְלִפְנֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֑ה וַיָּנֻ֖סוּ הַכּוּשִֽׁים׃

καὶ ἐβόησεν Ἀσὰ πρὸς Κύριον θεὸν αὐτοῦ καὶ εἶπεν Κύριε, οὐκ ἀδυνατεῖ παρὰ σοὶ σώζειν ἐν πολλοῖς καὶ ἐν ὀλίγοις · κατίσχυσον ἡμᾶς, Κύριε θεὸς ἡμῶν, ὅτι ἐπὶ σοὶ πεποίθαμεν, καὶ ἐπὶ τῷ ὀνόματί σου ἤλθαμεν ἐπὶ τὸ πλῆθος τὸ πολὺ τοῦτο · Κύριε θεὸς ἡμῶν, μὴ κατισχυσάτω πρὸς σὲ ἄνθρωπος.

וַיִּרְדְּפֵ֨ם אָסָ֜א וְהָעָ֣ם אֲשֶׁר עִמּ־וֹ֮ עַד לִ־גְרָר֒ וַיִּפֹּ֤ל מִכּוּשִׁים֙ לְאֵ֣ין לָהֶ֣ם מִֽחְיָ֔ה כִּֽי־נִשְׁבְּר֥וּ לִפְנֵֽי־יְהוָ֖ה וְלִפְנֵ֣י מַחֲנֵ֑הוּ וַיִּשְׂא֥וּ שָׁלָ֖ל הַרְבֵּ֥ה מְאֹֽד׃

καὶ ἐπάταξεν Κύριος τοὺς Αἰθίοπας ἐναντίον Ἰούδα, καὶ ἔφυγον Αἰθίοπες,

Et persecútus est eos Asa, et pópulus, qui cum eo erat, usque Gerára: et ruérunt Æthíopes usque ad interneciónem, quia Dómino cædénte contríti sunt, et exércitu illíus prœliánte. Tulérunt ergo spólia multa,

And Asa and the people that [were] with him pursued them unto Gerar: and the Ethiopians were overthrown, that they could not recover themselves; for they were destroyed before the LORD, and before his host; and they carried away very much spoil.

וַיַּכּ֗וּ אֵ֤ת כָּל הֶֽ־עָרִים֙ סְבִיב֣וֹת גְּרָ֔ר כִּי־הָיָ֥ה פַֽחַד־יְהוָ֖ה עֲלֵיהֶ֑ם וַיָּבֹ֨זּוּ֙ אֶת־כָּל הֶ֣־עָרִ֔ים כִּֽי־בִזָּ֥ה רַבָּ֖ה הָיְתָ֥ה בָהֶֽם׃

καὶ κατεδίωξεν Ἀσὰ καὶ λαὸς αὐτοῦ ἕως Γεδώρ · καὶ ἔπεσον Αἰθίοπες ὥστε μὴ εἶναι ἐν αὐτοῖς περιποίησιν, ὅτι συνετρίβησαν ἐνώπιον Κυρίου καὶ ἐναντίον τῆς δυνάμεως αὐτοῦ · καὶ ἐσκύλευσαν σκῦλα πολλά.

καὶ ἐξέκοψαν τὰς κώμας αὐτῶν κύκλῳ Γεδώρ, ὅτι ἐγενήθη ἔκστασις Κυρίου ἐπ᾽ αὐτούς, καὶ ἐσκύλευσαν πάσας τὰς πόλεις αὐτοῦ, ὅτι πολλὰ σκῦλα ἐγενήθη αὐτοῖς ·
