וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֱלִישָׁ֔ע שִׁמְע֖וּ דְּבַר־יְהוָ֑ה כֹּ֣ה ׀ אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֗ה כָּעֵ֤ת ׀ מָחָר֙ סְאָֽה־סֹ֣לֶת בְּשֶׁ֗קֶל וְסָאתַ֧יִם שְׂעֹרִ֛ים בְּשֶׁ֖קֶל בְּשַׁ֥עַר שֹׁמְרֽוֹן׃

καὶ εἶπεν Ἐλεισαῖε Ἄκουσον λόγον Κυρίου Τάδε λέγει Κύριος Ὡς ὥρα αὕτη αὔριον, μέτρον σεμιδάλεως σίκλου ἐν ταῖς πύλαις Σαμαρείας.

וַיַּ֣עַן הַשָּׁלִ֡ישׁ אֲשֶׁר לַ־מֶּלֶךְ֩ נִשְׁעָ֨ן עַל יָד֜־וֹ אֶת־אִ֣ישׁ הָאֱלֹהִים֮ וַיֹּאמַר֒ הִנֵּ֣ה יְהוָ֗ה עֹשֶׂ֤ה אֲרֻבּוֹת֙ בַּשָּׁמַ֔יִם הֲיִהְיֶ֖ה הַדָּבָ֣ר הַזֶּ֑ה וַיֹּ֗אמֶר הִנְּכָ֤ה רֹאֶה֙ בְּעֵינֶ֔יךָ וּמִשָּׁ֖ם לֹ֥א תֹאכֵֽל׃ ס

καὶ ἀπεκρίθη τριστάτης ἐφ᾽ ὃν βασιλεὺς ἐπανεπαύετο ἐπὶ τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ τῷ Ἐλεισαῖε καὶ εἶπεν Ἰδοὺ ποιήσει Κύριος καταράκτας ἐν οὐρανῷ · μὴ ἔσται τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο? καὶ Ἐλεισαῖε εἶπεν Ἰδοὺ ὄψῃ τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς, καὶ ἐκεῖθεν οὐ φάγῃ.

וְאַרְבָּעָ֧ה אֲנָשִׁ֛ים הָי֥וּ מְצֹרָעִ֖ים פֶּ֣תַח הַשָּׁ֑עַר וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ אִ֣ישׁ אֶל רֵעֵ֔־הוּ מָ֗ה אֲנַ֛חְנוּ יֹשְׁבִ֥ים פֹּ֖ה עַד־מָֽתְנוּ׃

Καὶ τέσσαρες ἄνδρες ἦσαν λεπροὶ παρὰ τὴν θύραν τῆς πόλεως, καὶ εἶπεν ἀνὴρ πρὸς τὸν πλησίον αὐτοῦ Τί ἡμεῖς καθήμεθα ὧδε ἕως ἀποθάνωμεν?

Quátuor ergo viri erant leprósi iuxta intróitum portæ: qui dixérunt ad ínvicem: Quid hic esse vólumus donec moriámur?

אִם־אָמַרְנוּ֩ נָב֨וֹא הָעִ֜יר וְהָרָעָ֤ב בָּעִיר֙ וָמַ֣תְנוּ שָׁ֔ם וְאִם־יָשַׁ֥בְנוּ פֹ֖ה וָמָ֑תְנוּ וְעַתָּ֗ה לְכוּ֙ וְנִפְּלָה֙ אֶל־מַחֲנֵ֣ה אֲרָ֔ם אִם יְחַיֻּ֣־נוּ נִֽחְיֶ֔ה וְאִם יְמִיתֻ֖־נוּ וָמָֽתְנוּ׃

ἐὰν εἴπωμεν Εἰσέλθωμεν εἰς τὴν πόλιν, καὶ λιμὸς ἐν τῇ πόλει καὶ ἀποθανούμεθα ἐκεῖ · καὶ ἐὰν καθίσωμεν ὧδε, καὶ ἀποθανούμεθα. καὶ νῦν δεῦτε καὶ ἐμπέσωμεν εἰς τὴν παρεμβολὴν Συρίας · ἐὰν ξωογονήσωσιν ἡμᾶς, καὶ ζησόμεθα · καὶ ἐὰν θανατώσωσιν ἡμᾶς, καὶ ἀποθανούμεθα.

Sive íngredi voluérimus civitátem, fame moriémur: sive mansérimus hic, moriéndum nobis est: veníte ergo, et transfugiámus ad castra Sýriæ: si pepércerint nobis, vivémus: si autem occídere volúerint, nihilóminus moriémur.

If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine [is] in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.

וַיָּק֣וּמוּ בַנֶּ֔שֶׁף לָב֖וֹא אֶל־מַחֲנֵ֣ה אֲרָ֑ם וַיָּבֹ֗אוּ עַד־קְצֵה֙ מַחֲנֵ֣ה אֲרָ֔ם וְהִנֵּ֥ה אֵֽין־שָׁ֖ם אִֽישׁ׃

καὶ ἀνέστησαν ἐν τῷ σκότει εἰσελθεῖν εἰς τὴν παρεμβολὴν Συρίας · καὶ ἦλθον εἰς μέσον τῆς παρεμβολῆς Συρίας, καὶ ἰδοὺ οὐκ ἔστιν ἀνὴρ ἐκεῖ.

Surrexérunt ergo vésperi, ut venírent ad castra Sýriæ. Cumque veníssent ad princípium castrórum Sýriæ, nullum ibídem reperérunt.

And they rose up in the twilight, to go unto the camp of the Syrians: and when they were come to the uttermost part of the camp of Syria, behold, [there was] no man there.

וַאדֹנָ֞י הִשְׁמִ֣יעַ ׀ אֶת־מַחֲנֵ֣ה אֲרָ֗ם ק֥וֹל רֶ֨כֶב֙ ק֣וֹל ס֔וּס ק֖וֹל חַ֣יִל גָּד֑וֹל וַיֹּאמְר֞וּ אִ֣ישׁ אֶל אָחִ֗י־ו הִנֵּ֣ה שָֽׂכַר עָלֵי־נוּ֩ מֶ֨לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל אֶת־מַלְכֵ֧י הַחִתִּ֛ים וְאֶת־מַלְכֵ֥י מִצְרַ֖יִם לָב֥וֹא עָלֵֽינוּ׃

καὶ Κύριος ἀκουστὴν ἐποίησεν τὴν παρεμβολὴν Συρίας φωνὴν ἅρματος καὶ φωνὴν ἵππου, φωνὴν δυνάμεως μεγάλης · καὶ εἶπεν ἀνὴρ πρὸς τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ Νῦν ἐμισθώσατο ἐφ᾽ ἡμᾶς βασιλεὺς Ἰσραὴλ τοὺς βασιλέας τῶν Χετταίων καὶ τοὺς βασιλέας Αἰγύπτου τοῦ ἐλθεῖν πρὸς ἡμᾶς.

Síquidem Dóminus sónitum audíri fécerat in castris Sýriæ, cúrruum, et equórum, et exércitus plúrimi: dixerúntque ad ínvicem: Ecce mercéde condúxit advérsum nos rex Israel reges Hethæórum, et Ægyptiórum, et venérunt super nos.

For the Lord had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, [even] the noise of a great host: and they said one to another, Lo, the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of the Egyptians, to come upon us.

וַיָּקוּמוּ֮ וַיָּנ֣וּסוּ בַנֶּשֶׁף֒ וַיַּעַזְב֣וּ אֶת אָהֳלֵי־הֶ֗ם וְאֶת סֽוּסֵי־הֶם֙ וְאֶת חֲמֹ֣רֵי־הֶ֔ם הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֖ה כַּאֲשֶׁר־הִ֑יא וַיָּנֻ֖סוּ אֶל נַפְשָֽׁ־ם׃

καὶ ἀνέστησαν καὶ ἀπέδρασαν ἐν τῷ σκότει · καὶ ἐνκατέλιπαν τὰς σκηνὰς αὐτῶν καὶ τοὺς ἵππους αὐτῶν καὶ τοὺς ὄνους αὐτῶν ἐν τῇ παρεμβολῇ ὡς ἔστιν, καὶ ἔφυγον πρὸς τὴν ψυχὴν ἑαυτῶν.

Surrexérunt ergo, et fugérunt in ténebris, et dereliquérunt tentória sua, et equos et ásinos, in castris, fugerúntque, ánimas tantum suas salváre cupiéntes.

וַיָּבֹאוּ֩ הַֽמְצֹרָעִ֨ים הָאֵ֜לֶּה עַד־קְצֵ֣ה הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֗ה וַיָּבֹ֜אוּ אֶל־אֹ֤הֶל אֶחָד֙ וַיֹּאכְל֣וּ וַיִּשְׁתּ֔וּ וַיִּשְׂא֣וּ מִשָּׁ֗ם כֶּ֤סֶף וְזָהָב֙ וּבְגָדִ֔ים וַיֵּלְכ֖וּ וַיַּטְמִ֑נוּ וַיָּשֻׁ֗בוּ וַיָּבֹ֨אוּ֙ אֶל־אֹ֣הֶל אַחֵ֔ר וַיִּשְׂא֣וּ מִשָּׁ֔ם וַיֵּלְכ֖וּ וַיַּטְמִֽנוּ׃

καὶ εἰσῆλθον οἱ λεπροὶ οὗτοι ἕως μέρους τῆς παρεμβολῆς, καὶ εἰσῆλθον εἰς σκηνὴν μίαν καὶ ἔφαγον καὶ ἔπιον, καὶ ἦραν ἐκεῖθεν ἀργύριον καὶ χρυσίον καὶ ἱματισμόν · καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν καὶ ἐπέστρεψαν ἐκεῖθεν καὶ εἰσῆλθον εἰς σκηνὴν ἄλλην, καὶ ἔλαβον ἐκεῖθεν καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν καὶ κατέκρυψαν.

Igitur cum veníssent leprósi illi ad princípium castrórum, ingréssi sunt unum tabernáculum, et comedérunt et bibérunt: tulerúntque inde argéntum, et aurum, et vestes, et abiérunt, et abscondérunt: et rursum revérsi sunt ad áliud tabernáculum, et inde simíliter auferéntes abscondérunt.

And when these lepers came to the uttermost part of the camp, they went into one tent, and did eat and drink, and carried thence silver, and gold, and raiment, and went and hid [it]; and came again, and entered into another tent, and carried thence [also], and went and hid [it].

וַיֹּאמְרוּ֩ אִ֨ישׁ אֶל רֵעֵ֜־הוּ לֹֽא־כֵ֣ן ׀ אֲנַ֣חְנוּ עֹשִׂ֗ים הַיּ֤וֹם הַזֶּה֙ יוֹם־בְּשֹׂרָ֣ה ה֔וּא וַאֲנַ֣חְנוּ מַחְשִׁ֗ים וְחִכִּ֛ינוּ עַד־א֥וֹר הַבֹּ֖קֶר וּמְצָאָ֣נוּ עָו֑וֹן וְעַתָּה֙ לְכ֣וּ וְנָבֹ֔אָה וְנַגִּ֖ידָה בֵּ֥ית הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃

καὶ εἶπεν ἀνὴρ πρὸς τὸν πλησίον αὐτοῦ Οὐχ οὕτως ἡμεῖς ποιοῦμεν · ἡμέρα αὕτη ἡμέρα εὐαγγελίας ἐστίν, καὶ ἡμεῖς σιωπῶμεν · καὶ μένομεν ἕως φωτὸς τοῦ πρωί, καὶ εὑρήσομεν ἀνομίαν. καὶ νῦν δεῦρο καὶ εἰσέλθωμεν καὶ ἀναγγείλωμεν εἰς τὸν οἶκον τοῦ βασιλέως.

Dixerúntque ad ínvicem: Non recte fácimus: hæc enim dies boni núntii est. Si tacuérimus, et noluérimus nuntiáre usque mane, scéleris arguémur: veníte, eámus, et nuntiémus in aula regis.

Then they said one to another, We do not well: this day [is] a day of good tidings, and we hold our peace: if we tarry till the morning light, some mischief will come upon us: now therefore come, that we may go and tell the king ’s household.

καὶ εἰσῆλθον καὶ ἐβόησαν πρὸς τὴν πύλην τῆς πόλεως, καὶ ἀνήγγειλαν αὐτοῖς λέγοντες Εἰσήλθομεν εἰς τὴν παρεμβολὴν Συρίας, καὶ ἰδοὺ οὐκ ἔστιν ἐκεῖ ἀνὴρ καὶ φωνὴ ἀνθρώπου, ὅτι εἰ μὴ ἵππος δεδεμένος καὶ ὄνος καὶ αἱ σκηναὶ αὐτῶν ὡς εἰσίν.

So they came and called unto the porter of the city: and they told them, saying, We came to the camp of the Syrians, and, behold, [there was] no man there, neither voice of man, but horses tied, and asses tied, and the tents as they [were].

וַיָּ֨קָם הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ לַ֗יְלָה וַיֹּ֨אמֶר֙ אֶל עֲבָדָ֔י־ו אַגִּֽידָה־נָּ֣א לָכֶ֔ם אֵ֛ת אֲשֶׁר־עָ֥שׂוּ לָ֖נוּ אֲרָ֑ם יָדְע֞וּ כִּי־רְעֵבִ֣ים אֲנַ֗חְנוּ וַיֵּצְא֤וּ מִן הַֽ־מַּחֲנֶה֙ לְהֵחָבֵ֤ה בהשדה לֵאמֹ֔ר כִּֽי־יֵצְא֤וּ מִן הָ־עִיר֙ וְנִתְפְּשֵׂ֣ם חַיִּ֔ים וְאֶל הָ־עִ֖יר נָבֹֽא׃

καὶ ἔστη βασιλεὺς νυκτὸς καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς τοὺς παῖδας αὐτοῦ Ἀναγγελῶ δὴ ὑμῖν ἐποίησεν ἡμῖν Συρία · ἔγνωσαν ὅτι πεινῶμεν ἡμεῖς, καὶ ἐξῆλθαν ἐκ τῆς παρεμβολῆς καὶ ἐκρύβησαν ἐν τῷ ἀγρῷ, λέγοντες ὅτι Ἐξελεύσονται ἐκ τῆς πόλεως, καὶ συλλημψόμεθα αὐτοὺς ζῶντας καὶ εἰς τὴν πόλιν εἰσελευσόμεθα.

Qui surréxit nocte, et ait ad servos suos: Dico vobis quid fécerint nobis Syri: Sciunt quia fame laborámus, et idcírco egréssi sunt de castris, et látitant in agris, dicéntes: Cum egréssi fúerint de civitáte, capiémus eos vivos, et tunc civitátem íngredi potérimus.

And the king arose in the night, and said unto his servants, I will now shew you what the Syrians have done to us. They know that we [be] hungry; therefore are they gone out of the camp to hide themselves in the field, saying, When they come out of the city, we shall catch them alive, and get into the city.

וַיַּעַן֩ אֶחָ֨ד מֵעֲבָדָ֜יו וַיֹּ֗אמֶר וְיִקְחוּ־נָ֞א חֲמִשָּׁ֣ה מִן הַ־סּוּסִים֮ הַֽנִּשְׁאָרִים֮ אֲשֶׁ֣ר נִשְׁאֲרוּ בָ־הּ֒ הִנָּ֗ם כְּכָל ה־המון יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר נִשְׁאֲרוּ בָ֔־הּ הִנָּ֕ם כְּכָל־הֲמ֥וֹן יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל אֲשֶׁר־תָּ֑מּוּ וְנִשְׁלְחָ֖ה וְנִרְאֶֽה׃

καὶ ἀπεκρίθη εἷς τῶν παίδων αὐτοῦ καὶ εἶπεν Λαβέτωσαν δὴ πέντε τῶν ἵππων τῶν ὑπολελιμμένων οἳ κατελείφθησαν ὧδε, ἰδού εἰσιν πρὸς πᾶν τὸ πλῆθος Ἰσραὴλ τὸ ἐκλεῖπον, καὶ ἀποστελοῦμεν ἐκεῖ καὶ ὀψόμεθα.

Respóndit autem unus servórum eius: Tollámus quinque equos, qui remansérunt in urbe ( quia ipsi tantum sunt in univérsa multitúdine Israel, álii enim consúmpti sunt ), et mitténtes, exploráre potérimus.

And one of his servants answered and said, Let [some] take, I pray thee, five of the horses that remain, which are left in the city, ( behold, they [are] as all the multitude of Israel that are left in it: behold, [I say], they [are] even as all the multitude of the Israelites that are consumed: ) and let us send and see.

וַיִּקְח֕וּ שְׁנֵ֖י רֶ֣כֶב סוּסִ֑ים וַיִּשְׁלַ֨ח הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ אַחֲרֵ֧י מַחֲנֵֽה־אֲרָ֛ם לֵאמֹ֖ר לְכ֥וּ וּרְאֽוּ׃

καὶ ἔλαβον δύο ἐπιβάτας ἵππων, καὶ ἀπέστειλεν βασιλεὺς Ἰσραὴλ ὀπίσω τοῦ βασιλέως Συρίας λέγων Δεῦτε καὶ ἴδετε.

וַיֵּלְכ֣וּ אַחֲרֵיהֶם֮ עַד הַ־יַּרְדֵּן֒ וְהִנֵּ֣ה כָל הַ־דֶּ֗רֶךְ מְלֵאָ֤ה בְגָדִים֙ וְכֵלִ֔ים אֲשֶׁר־הִשְׁלִ֥יכוּ אֲרָ֖ם בהחפזם וַיָּשֻׁ֨בוּ֙ הַמַּלְאָכִ֔ים וַיַּגִּ֖דוּ לַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃

καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν ὀπίσω αὐτῶν ἕως τοῦ Ἰορδάνου, καὶ ἰδοὺ πᾶσα ὁδὸς πλήρης ἱματίων καὶ σκευῶν ὧν ἔρριψεν Συρία ἐν τῷ θαμβεῖσθαι αὐτούς · καὶ ἐπέστρεψαν οἱ ἄγγελοι καὶ ἀνήγγειλαν τῷ βασιλεῖ.

וַיֵּצֵ֣א הָעָ֔ם וַיָּבֹ֕זּוּ אֵ֖ת מַחֲנֵ֣ה אֲרָ֑ם וַיְהִ֨י סְאָה־סֹ֜לֶת בְּשֶׁ֗קֶל וְסָאתַ֧יִם שְׂעֹרִ֛ים בְּשֶׁ֖קֶל כִּדְבַ֥ר יְהוָֽה׃

וְהַמֶּלֶךְ֩ הִפְקִ֨יד אֶת הַ־שָּׁלִ֜ישׁ אֲשֶׁר־נִשְׁעָ֤ן עַל יָד־וֹ֙ עַל הַ־שַּׁ֔עַר וַיִּרְמְסֻ֧הוּ הָעָ֛ם בַּשַּׁ֖עַר וַיָּמֹ֑ת כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר דִּבֶּר֙ אִ֣ישׁ הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר דִּבֶּ֔ר בְּרֶ֥דֶת הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ אֵלָֽיו׃

Καὶ βασιλεὺς κατέστησεν τὸν τριστάτην ἐφ᾽ ὃν βασιλεὺς ἐπανεπαύετο τῇ χειρὶ αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ τῆς πύλης, καὶ συνεπάτησεν αὐτὸν λαὸς ἐν τῇ πύλῃ, καὶ ἀπέθανεν καθὰ ἐλάλησεν ἄνθρωπος τοῦ θεοῦ, ὃς ἐλάλησεν ἐν τῷ καταβῆναι τὸν ἄγγελον πρὸς αὐτόν.

καὶ ἀπεκρίθη τριστάτης τῷ Ἐλεισαῖε καὶ εἶπεν Ἰδοὺ Κύριος ποιεῖ καταράκτας ἐν τῷ οὐρανῷ, οὐ μὴ ἔσται τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο · καὶ εἶπεν Ἐλεισαῖε Ἰδοὺ ὄψῃ τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς σου, καὶ ἐκεῖθεν οὐ μὴ φάγῃ.
