וַיְהִ֗י בְּאַחַ֤ת עֶשְׂרֵה֙ שָׁנָ֔ה בַּשְּׁלִישִׁ֖י בְּאֶחָ֣ד לַחֹ֑דֶשׁ הָיָ֥ה דְבַר־יְהוָ֖ה אֵלַ֥י לֵאמֹֽר׃

Καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ ἑνδεκάτῳ ἔτει ἐν τῷ τρίτῳ μηνὶ μιᾷ τοῦ μηνὸς ἐγένετο λόγος Κυρίου πρὸς μὲ λέγων

בֶּן־אָדָ֕ם אֱמֹ֛ר אֶל־פַּרְעֹ֥ה מֶֽלֶךְ־מִצְרַ֖יִם וְאֶל הֲמוֹנ֑־וֹ אֶל־מִ֖י דָּמִ֥יתָ בְגָדְלֶֽךָ׃

Υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου, εἰπὸν πρὸς Φαραὼ βασιλέα Αἰγύπτου καὶ τῷ πλήθει αὐτοῦ Τίνι ὡμοίωσας σεαυτὸν ἐν τῷ ὕψει σου;

הִנֵּ֨ה אַשּׁ֜וּר אֶ֣רֶז בַּלְּבָנ֗וֹן יְפֵ֥ה עָנָ֛ף וְחֹ֥רֶשׁ מֵצַ֖ל וּגְבַ֣הּ קוֹמָ֑ה וּבֵ֣ין עֲבֹתִ֔ים הָיְתָ֖ה צַמַּרְתּֽוֹ׃

ἰδοὺ Ἀσσοὺρ κυπάρισσος ἐν τῷ Λιβάνῳ καὶ καλὸς ταῖς παραφυάσιν καὶ ὑψηλὸς τῷ μεγέθει, εἰς μέσον νεφελῶν ἐγένετο ἀρχὴ αὐτοῦ ·

Ecce Assur quasi cedrus in Líbano, pulcher ramis, et fróndibus nemorósus, excelsúsque altitúdine, et inter condénsas frondes elevátum est cacúmen eius.

מַ֣יִם גִּדְּל֔וּהוּ תְּה֖וֹם רֹֽמְמָ֑תְהוּ אֶת נַהֲרֹתֶ֗י־הָ הֹלֵךְ֙ סְבִיב֣וֹת מַטָּעָ֔הּ וְאֶת תְּעָלֹתֶ֣י־הָ שִׁלְחָ֔ה אֶ֖ל כָּל־עֲצֵ֥י הַשָּׂדֶֽה׃

ὕδωρ ἐξέθρεψεν αὐτόν, ἄβυσσος ὕψωσεν αὐτόν, τοὺς ποταμοὺς αὐτῆς ἤγαγεν κύκλῳ τῶν φυτῶν αὐτοῦ, καὶ τὰ συστέματα αὐτῆς ἐξαπέστειλεν εἰς πάντα τὰ ξύλα τοῦ πεδίου.

Aquæ nutriérunt illum, abýssus exaltávit illum: flúmina eius manábant in circúitu radícum eius, et rivos suos emísit ad univérsa ligna regiónis.

עַל־כֵּן֙ גָּבְהָ֣א קֹמָת֔וֹ מִכֹּ֖ל עֲצֵ֣י הַשָּׂדֶ֑ה וַתִּרְבֶּ֨ינָה סַֽרְעַפֹּתָ֜יו וַתֶּאֱרַ֧כְנָה פארתו מִמַּ֥יִם רַבִּ֖ים בְּשַׁלְּחֽוֹ׃

ἕνεκεν τούτου ὑψώθη τὸ μέγεθος αὐτοῦ παρὰ πάντα τὰ ξύλα τοῦ πεδίου, καὶ ἐπλατύνθησαν οἱ κλάδοι αὐτοῦ ἀφ᾽ ὕδατος πολλοῦ.

Proptérea eleváta est altitúdo eius super ómnia ligna regiónis: et multiplicáta sunt arbústa eius, et eleváti sunt rami eius præ aquis multis.

בִּסְעַפֹּתָ֤יו קִֽנְנוּ֙ כָּל־ע֣וֹף הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וְתַ֤חַת פֹּֽארֹתָיו֙ יָֽלְד֔וּ כֹּ֖ל חַיַּ֣ת הַשָּׂדֶ֑ה וּבְצִלּוֹ֙ יֵֽשְׁב֔וּ כֹּ֖ל גּוֹיִ֥ם רַבִּֽים׃

ἐν ταῖς παραφυάσιν αὐτοῦ ἐνόσσευσαν πάντα τὰ πετεινὰ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ, καὶ ὑποκάτω τῶν κλάδων αὐτοῦ ἐγεννῶσαν πάντα τὰ θηρία τοῦ πεδίου, ἐν τῇ σκιᾷ αὐτοῦ κατῴκησεν πᾶν πλῆθος ἐθνῶν.

Cumque extendísset umbram suam, in ramis eius fecérunt nidos ómnia volatília cæli, et sub fróndibus eius genuérunt omnes béstiæ sáltuum, et sub umbráculo illíus habitábat cœtus géntium plurimárum.

וַיְּיִ֣ף בְּגָדְל֔וֹ בְּאֹ֖רֶךְ דָּֽלִיּוֹתָ֑יו כִּֽי־הָיָ֥ה שָׁרְשׁ֖וֹ אֶל־מַ֥יִם רַבִּֽים׃

καὶ ἐγένετο καλὸς ἐν τῷ ὕψει αὐτοῦ διὰ τὸ πλῆθος τῶν κλάδων αὐτοῦ, ὅτι ἐγενήθησαν αἱ ῥίζαι αὐτοῦ εἰς ὕδωρ πολύ.

אֲרָזִ֣ים לֹֽא עֲמָמֻ־הוּ֮ בְּגַן־אֱלֹהִים֒ בְּרוֹשִׁ֗ים לֹ֤א דָמוּ֙ אֶל סְעַפֹּתָ֔י־ו וְעַרְמֹנִ֥ים לֹֽא־הָי֖וּ כְּפֹֽארֹתָ֑יו כָּל־עֵץ֙ בְּגַן־אֱלֹהִ֔ים לֹא־דָמָ֥ה אֵלָ֖יו בְּיָפְיֽוֹ׃

καὶ κυπάρισσοι τοιαῦται ἐν τῷ παραδείσῳ τοῦ θεοῦ, καὶ αἱ πίτυες οὐχ ὅμοιαι ταῖς παραφυάσιν αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐλάται οὐκ ἐγένοντο ὅμοιαι τοῖς κλάδοις αὐτοῦ · πᾶν ξύλον ἐν τῷ παραδείσῳ τοῦ θεοῦ οὐχ ὁμοιώθη αὐτῷ ἐν τῷ κάλλει αὐτοῦ

Cedri non fuérunt altióres illo in paradíso Dei: abiétes non adæquavérunt summitátem eius, et plátani non fuérunt æquæ fróndibus illíus: omne lignum paradísi Dei non est assimilátum illi, et pulchritúdini eius.

The cedars in the garden of God could not hide him: the fir trees were not like his boughs, and the chesnut trees were not like his branches; nor any tree in the garden of God was like unto him in his beauty.

διὰ τὸ πλῆθος τῶν κλάδων αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐζήλωσεν αὐτὸν τὰ ξύλα τοῦ παραδείσου τῆς τρυφῆς τοῦ θεοῦ.

Quóniam speciósum feci eum, et multis condensísque fróndibus: et æmuláta sunt eum ómnia ligna voluptátis, quæ erant in paradíso Dei.

לָכֵ֗ן כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֔ה יַ֕עַן אֲשֶׁ֥ר גָּבַ֖הְתָּ בְּקוֹמָ֑ה וַיִּתֵּ֤ן צַמַּרְתּוֹ֙ אֶל־בֵּ֣ין עֲבוֹתִ֔ים וְרָ֥ם לְבָב֖וֹ בְּגָבְהֽוֹ׃

Διὰ τοῦτο τάδε λέγει Κύριος Ἀνθ᾽ ὧν ἐγένου μέγας τῷ μεγέθει καὶ ἔδωκας τὴν ἀρχήν σου εἰς μέσον νεφελῶν, καὶ εἶδον ἐν τῷ ὑψωθῆναι αὐτόν ·

וְאֶ֨תְּנֵ֔הוּ בְּיַ֖ד אֵ֣יל גּוֹיִ֑ם עָשׂ֤וֹ יַֽעֲשֶׂה֙ ל֔וֹ כְּרִשְׁע֖וֹ גֵּרַשְׁתִּֽהוּ׃

καὶ παρέδωκα αὐτὸν εἰς χεῖρας ἄρχοντος ἐθνῶν, καὶ ἐποίησεν τὴν ἀπώλειαν αὐτοῦ,

וַיִּכְרְתֻ֧הוּ זָרִ֛ים עָרִיצֵ֥י גוֹיִ֖ם וַֽיִּטְּשֻׁ֑הוּ אֶל הֶ֠־הָרִים וּבְכָל־גֵּ֨אָי֜וֹת נָפְל֣וּ דָלִיּוֹתָ֗יו וַתִּשָּׁבַ֤רְנָה פֹֽארֹתָיו֙ בְּכֹל֙ אֲפִיקֵ֣י הָאָ֔רֶץ וַיֵּרְד֧וּ מִצִּלּ֛וֹ כָּל־עַמֵּ֥י הָאָ֖רֶץ וַֽיִּטְּשֻֽׁהוּ׃

καὶ ἐξωλέθρευσαν αὐτὸν ἀλλότριοι λοιμοὶ ἀπὸ ἐθνῶν καὶ κατέβαλον αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τῶν ὀρέων · ἐν πάσαις ταῖς φάραγξιν ἔπεσαν οἱ κλάδοι αὐτοῦ, καὶ συνετρίβη τὰ στελέχη αὐτοῦ ἐν παντὶ πεδίῳ τῆς γῆς, καὶ κατέβησαν ἀπὸ τῆς σκέπης αὐτῶν πάντες οἱ λαοὶ τῶν ἐθνῶν καὶ ἠδάφισαν αὐτόν.

Et succídent eum aliéni, et crudelíssimi natiónum, et proícient eum super montes: et in cunctis convállibus córruent rami eius, et confringéntur arbústa eius in univérsis rúpibus terræ: et recédent de umbráculo eius omnes pópuli terræ, et relínquent eum.

And strangers, the terrible of the nations, have cut him off, and have left him: upon the mountains and in all the valleys his branches are fallen, and his boughs are broken by all the rivers of the land; and all the people of the earth are gone down from his shadow, and have left him.

לְמַ֡עַן אֲשֶׁר֩ לֹא־יִגְבְּה֨וּ בְקוֹמָתָ֜ם כָּל־עֲצֵי־מַ֗יִם וְלֹֽא־יִתְּנ֤וּ אֶת צַמַּרְתָּ־ם֙ אֶל־בֵּ֣ין עֲבֹתִ֔ים וְלֹֽא־יַעַמְד֧וּ אֵלֵיהֶ֛ם בְּגָבְהָ֖ם כָּל־שֹׁ֣תֵי מָ֑יִם כִּֽי כֻלָּ־ם֩ נִתְּנ֨וּ לַמָּ֜וֶת אֶל־אֶ֣רֶץ תַּחְתִּ֗ית בְּת֛וֹךְ בְּנֵ֥י אָדָ֖ם אֶל־י֥וֹרְדֵי בֽוֹר׃ ס

ὅπως μὴ ὑψωθῶσιν ἐν τῷ μεγέθει αὐτῶν καὶ πάντα τὰ ξύλα τὰ ἐν τῷ ὕδατι · καὶ ἔδωκαν τὴν ἀρχήν αὐτῶν εἰς μέσον νεφελῶν, καὶ οὐκ ἔστησαν ἐν τῷ ὕψει αὐτῶν πρὸς αὐτά · πάντες οἱ πίνοντες ὕδωρ, πάντες ἐδόθησαν εἰς θάνατον, εἰς γῆς βάθος, ἐν μέσῳ υἱῶν ἀνθρώπων, πρὸς καταβαίνοντας εἰς βόθρον.

Quam ob rem non elevabúntur in altitúdine sua ómnia ligna aquárum, nec ponent sublimitátem suam inter nemorósa atque frondósa, nec stabunt in sublimitáte sua ómnia, quæ irrigántur aquis: quia omnes tráditi sunt in mortem ad terram últimam, in médio filiórum hóminum, ad eos, qui descéndunt in lacum.

To the end that none of all the trees by the waters exalt themselves for their height, neither shoot up their top among the thick boughs, neither their trees stand up in their height, all that drink water: for they are all delivered unto death, to the nether parts of the earth, in the midst of the children of men, with them that go down to the pit.

כֹּֽה־אָמַ֞ר אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֗ה בְּי֨וֹם רִדְתּ֤וֹ שְׁא֨וֹלָה֙ הֶאֱבַ֜לְתִּי כִּסֵּ֤תִי עָלָיו֙ אֶת־תְּה֔וֹם וָֽאֶמְנַע֙ נַהֲרוֹתֶ֔יהָ וַיִּכָּלְא֖וּ מַ֣יִם רַבִּ֑ים וָאַקְדִּ֤ר עָלָיו֙ לְבָנ֔וֹן וְכָל־עֲצֵ֥י הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה עָלָ֥יו עֻלְפֶּֽה׃

Τάδε λέγει κύριος Κύριος Ἐν ἡμέρᾳ κατέβη εἰς ᾅδου, ἐπένθησεν αὐτὸν ἄβυσσος, καὶ ἐπέστησα τοὺς ποταμοὺς αὐτῆς καὶ ἐκώλυσα πλῆθος ὕδατος, καὶ ἐσκότασεν ἐπ᾽ αὐτὸν Λίβανος, πάντα τὰ ξύλα τοῦ πεδίου ἐπ᾽ αὐτῷ ἐξελύθησαν.

Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day when he went down to the grave I caused a mourning: I covered the deep for him, and I restrained the floods thereof, and the great waters were stayed: and I caused Lebanon to mourn for him, and all the trees of the field fainted for him.

מִקּ֤וֹל מַפַּלְתּוֹ֙ הִרְעַ֣שְׁתִּי גוֹיִ֔ם בְּהוֹרִדִ֥י אֹת֛וֹ שְׁא֖וֹלָה אֶת־י֣וֹרְדֵי ב֑וֹר וַיִּנָּ֨חֲמ֜וּ בְּאֶ֤רֶץ תַּחְתִּית֙ כָּל־עֲצֵי־עֵ֔דֶן מִבְחַ֥ר וְטוֹב־לְבָנ֖וֹן כָּל־שֹׁ֥תֵי מָֽיִם׃

ἀπὸ τῆς φωνῆς τῆς πτώσεως αὐτοῦ ἐσείσθησαν τὰ ἔθνη, ὅτε κατεβίβαζον αὐτὸν εἰς ᾅδου μετὰ τῶν καταβαινόντων εἰς λάκκον, καὶ παρεκάλουν αὐτὸν ἐν γῇ πάντα τὰ ξύλα τῆς τρυφῆς καὶ τὰ ἐκλεκτὰ τοῦ Λιβάνου, πάντα τὰ πίνοντα ὕδωρ.

I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to hell with them that descend into the pit: and all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, shall be comforted in the nether parts of the earth.

גַּם־הֵ֗ם אִתּ֛וֹ יָרְד֥וּ שְׁא֖וֹלָה אֶל־חַלְלֵי־חָ֑רֶב וּזְרֹע֛וֹ יָשְׁב֥וּ בְצִלּ֖וֹ בְּת֥וֹךְ גּוֹיִֽם׃

καὶ γὰρ αὐτοὶ κατέβησαν μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ εἰς ᾅδου ἐν τοῖς τραυματίαις ἀπὸ μαχαίρας, καὶ τὸ σπέρμα αὐτοῦ, οἱ κατοικοῦντες ὑπὸ τὴν σκέπην αὐτοῦ, ἐν μέσῳ τῆς ζωῆς αὐτῶν ἀπώλοντο.

אֶל־מִ֨י דָמִ֥יתָ כָּ֛כָה בְּכָב֥וֹד וּבְגֹ֖דֶל בַּעֲצֵי־עֵ֑דֶן וְהוּרַדְתָּ֨ אֶת־עֲצֵי־עֵ֜דֶן אֶל־אֶ֣רֶץ תַּחְתִּ֗ית בְּת֨וֹךְ עֲרֵלִ֤ים תִּשְׁכַּב֙ אֶת־חַלְלֵי־חֶ֔רֶב ה֤וּא פַרְעֹה֙ וְכָל הֲמוֹנֹ֔־ה נְאֻ֖ם אֲדֹנָ֥י יְהוִֽה׃ ס

Τίνι ὡμοιώθης; κατάβηθι καὶ καταβιβάσθητι μετὰ τῶν ξύλων τῆς τρυφῆς εἰς γῆς βάθος · ἐν μέσῳ ἀπεριτμήτων κοιμηθήσῃ μετά τραυματιῶν μαχαίρας. οὕτως Φαραὼ καὶ τὸ πλῆθος τῆς ἰσχύος αὐτοῦ, λέγει κύριος Κύριος.

Cui assimilátus es o ínclyte atque sublímis inter ligna voluptátis? Ecce dedúctus es cum lignis voluptátis ad terram últimam: in médio incircumcisórum dórmies, cum eis, qui interfécti sunt gládio: ipse est Phárao, et omnis multitúdo eius, dicit Dóminus Deus.

To whom art thou thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden? yet shalt thou be brought down with the trees of Eden unto the nether parts of the earth: thou shalt lie in the midst of the uncircumcised with [them that be] slain by the sword.
