הִרְאַנִי֮ יְהוָה֒ וְהִנֵּ֗ה שְׁנֵי֙ דּוּדָאֵ֣י תְאֵנִ֔ים מוּעָדִ֕ים לִפְנֵ֖י הֵיכַ֣ל יְהוָ֑ה אַחֲרֵ֣י הַגְל֣וֹת נְבוּכַדְרֶאצַּ֣ר מֶֽלֶךְ־בָּבֶ֡ל אֶת־יְכָנְיָ֣הוּ בֶן־יְהוֹיָקִ֣ים מֶֽלֶךְ־יְהוּדָה֩ וְאֶת־שָׂרֵ֨י יְהוּדָ֜ה וְאֶת הֶ־חָרָ֤שׁ וְאֶת הַ־מַּסְגֵּר֙ מִיר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם וַיְבִאֵ֖ם בָּבֶֽל׃

Ἔδειξέν μοι Κύριος δύο καλάθους σύκων, κειμένους κατὰ πρόσωπον ναοῦ Κυρίου, μετὰ τὸ ἀποικίσαι Ναβουχοδονόσορ βασιλέα Βαβυλῶνος τὸν Ἰεχονίαν υἱὸν Ἰωακεὶμ βασιλέα Ἰούδα καὶ τοὺς ἄρχοντας καὶ τοὺς τεχνίτας καὶ τοὺς δεσμώτας καὶ τοὺς πλησίους ἐξ Ἰερουσαλήμ, καὶ ἤγαγεν αὐτοὺς εἰς Βαβυλῶνα.

Osténdit mihi Dóminus: et ecce duo cálathi pleni ficis, pósiti ante templum Dómini, postquam tránstulit Nabuchodónosor rex Babylónis Iechoníam fílium Ióakim, regem Iuda, et príncipes eius, et fabrum, et inclusórem de Ierúsalem, et addúxit eos in Babylónem.

The LORD shewed me, and, behold, two baskets of figs [were] set before the temple of the LORD, after that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon had carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, and the princes of Judah, with the carpenters and smiths, from Jerusalem, and had brought them to Babylon.

הַדּ֣וּד אֶחָ֗ד תְּאֵנִים֙ טֹב֣וֹת מְאֹ֔ד כִּתְאֵנֵ֖י הַבַּכֻּר֑וֹת וְהַדּ֣וּד אֶחָ֗ד תְּאֵנִים֙ רָע֣וֹת מְאֹ֔ד אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹא־תֵֽאָכַ֖לְנָה מֵרֹֽעַ׃ ס

κάλαθος εἷς σύκων χρηστῶν σφόδρα ὡς τὰ σῦκα τὰ πρόιμα, καὶ κάλαθος ἕτερος σύκων πονηρῶν σφόδρα, οὐ βρωθήσεται ἀπὸ πονηρίας αὐτῶν.

Cálathus unus ficus bonas habébat nimis, ut solent ficus esse primi témporis: et cálathus unus ficus habébat malas nimis, quæ cómedi non póterant, eo quod essent malæ.

One basket [had] very good figs, [even] like the figs [that are] first ripe: and the other basket [had] very naughty figs, which could not be eaten, they were so bad.

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוָ֜ה אֵלַ֗י מָֽה־אַתָּ֤ה רֹאֶה֙ יִרְמְיָ֔הוּ וָאֹמַ֖ר תְּאֵנִ֑ים הַתְּאֵנִ֤ים הַטֹּבוֹת֙ טֹב֣וֹת מְאֹ֔ד וְהָֽרָעוֹת֙ רָע֣וֹת מְאֹ֔ד אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹא־תֵאָכַ֖לְנָה מֵרֹֽעַ׃ פ

καὶ εἶπεν Κύριος πρὸς μέ Τί σὺ ὁρᾷς, Ἰερεμία; καὶ εἶπα Σῦκα · τὰ χρηστά, χρηστὰ λίαν, καὶ τὰ πονηρά, πονηρὰ λίαν, οὐ βρωθήσεται ἀπὸ πονηρίας αὐτῶν.

Et dixit Dóminus ad me: Quid tu vides Ieremía? Et dixi: Ficus, ficus bonas, bonas valde: et malas, malas valde: quæ cómedi non possunt, eo quod sint malæ.

Then said the LORD unto me, What seest thou, Jeremiah? And I said, Figs; the good figs, very good; and the evil, very evil, that can not be eaten, they are so evil.

כֹּֽה־אָמַ֤ר יְהוָה֙ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל כַּתְּאֵנִ֥ים הַטֹּב֖וֹת הָאֵ֑לֶּה כֵּֽן־אַכִּ֞יר אֶת־גָּל֣וּת יְהוּדָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֨ר שִׁלַּ֜חְתִּי מִן הַ־מָּק֥וֹם הַזֶּ֛ה אֶ֥רֶץ כַּשְׂדִּ֖ים לְטוֹבָֽה׃

Τάδε λέγει Κύριος θεὸς Ἰσραήλ Ὡς τὰ σῦκα τὰ χρηστὰ ταῦτα, οὕτως ἐπιγνώσομαι τοὺς ἀποικισθέντας Ἰουδαίους, οὓς ἐξαπέσταλκα ἐκ τοῦ τόπου τούτου εἰς γῆν Χαλδαίων εἰς ἀγαθά.

Hæc dicit Dóminus Deus Israel: Sicut ficus bonæ, sic cognóscam transmigratiónem Iuda, quam emísi de loco isto in terram Chaldæórum, in bonum.

Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; Like these good figs, so will I acknowledge them that are carried away captive of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans for [their] good.

וְשַׂמְתִּ֨י עֵינִ֤י עֲלֵיהֶם֙ לְטוֹבָ֔ה וַהֲשִׁבֹתִ֖ים עַל הָ־אָ֣רֶץ הַזֹּ֑את וּבְנִיתִים֙ וְלֹ֣א אֶהֱרֹ֔ס וּנְטַעְתִּ֖ים וְלֹ֥א אֶתּֽוֹשׁ׃

καὶ στηριῶ τοὺς ὀφθαλμούς μου ἐπ᾽ αὐτοὺς εἰς ἀγαθά, καὶ ἀποκαταστήσω αὐτοὺς εἰς τὴν γῆν ταύτην εἰς ἀγαθά · καὶ ἀνοικοδομήσω αὐτοὺς καὶ οὐ μὴ καθελῶ αὐτούς, καὶ καταφυτεύσω αὐτοὺς καὶ οὐ μὴ ἐκτίλω.

Et ponam óculos meos super eos ad placándum, et redúcam eos in terram hanc: et ædificábo eos, et non déstruam: et plantábo eos, et non evéllam.

καὶ δώσω αὐτοῖς καρδίαν τοῦ εἰδέναι αὐτοὺς ἐμέ, ὅτι ἐγώ εἰμι Κύριος, καὶ ἔσονταί μοι εἰς λαὸν καὶ ἐγὼ ἔσομαι αὐτοῖς εἰς θεόν, ὅτι ἐπιστραφήσονται ἐπ᾽ ἐμὲ ἐξ ὅλης τῆς καρδίας αὐτῶν ·

Et dabo eis cor ut sciant me, quia ego sum Dóminus: et erunt mihi in pópulum, et ego ero eis in Deum, quia reverténtur ad me in toto corde suo.

καὶ ὡς τὰ σῦκα τὰ πονηρὰ οὐ βρωθήσεται ἀπὸ πονηρίας αὐτῶν, τάδε λέγει Κύριος, οὕτως παραδώσω τὸν Σεδεκίαν βασιλέα Ἰούδα καὶ τοὺς μεγιστᾶνας αὐτοῦ καὶ τὸ κατάλοιπον Ἰερουσαλὴμ τοὺς ὑπολελιμμένους ἐν τῇ γῇ ταύτῃ καὶ τοὺς κατοικοῦντας ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ.

Et sicut ficus péssimæ, quæ cómedi non possunt, eo quod sint malæ, hæc dicit Dóminus: Sic dabo Sedecíam regem Iuda, et príncipes eius, et réliquos de Ierúsalem, qui remansérunt in urbe hac, et qui hábitant in terra Ægýpti.

And as the evil figs, which can not be eaten, they are so evil; surely thus saith the LORD, So will I give Zedekiah the king of Judah, and his princes, and the residue of Jerusalem, that remain in this land, and them that dwell in the land of Egypt:

וּנְתַתִּים֙ לזועה לְרָעָ֔ה לְכֹ֖ל מַמְלְכ֣וֹת הָאָ֑רֶץ לְחֶרְפָּ֤ה וּלְמָשָׁל֙ לִשְׁנִינָ֣ה וְלִקְלָלָ֔ה בְּכָל הַ־מְּקֹמ֖וֹת אֲשֶֽׁר אַדִּיחֵ֥־ם שָֽׁם׃

καὶ δώσω αὐτοὺς εἰς διασκορπισμὸν εἰς πάσας τὰς βασιλείας τῆς γῆς καὶ εἰς ὀνειδισμὸν καὶ εἰς παραβολὴν καὶ εἰς μῖσος καὶ εἰς κατάραν ἐν παντὶ τόπῳ, οὗ ἐξῶσα αὐτοὺς ἐκεῖ ·

Et dabo eos in vexatiónem, afflictiónemque ómnibus regnis terræ: in oppróbrium, et in parábolam, et in provérbium, et in maledictiónem in univérsis locis, ad quæ eiéci eos.

And I will deliver them to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth for [their] hurt, [to be] a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse, in all places whither I shall drive them.

וְשִׁלַּ֣חְתִּי בָ֔ם אֶת הַ־חֶ֖רֶב אֶת הָ־רָעָ֣ב וְאֶת הַ־דָּ֑בֶר עַד תֻּמָּ־ם֙ מֵעַ֣ל הָאֲדָמָ֔ה אֲשֶׁר־נָתַ֥תִּי לָהֶ֖ם וְלַאֲבוֹתֵיהֶֽם׃ פ

καὶ ἀποστελῶ εἰς αὐτοὺς τὸν λιμὸν καὶ τὸν θάνατον καὶ τὴν μάχαιραν, ἕως ἂν ἐκλίπωσιν ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς ἧς ἔδωκα αὐτοῖς.

Et mittam in eis gládium, et famem, et pestem: donec consumántur de terra, quam dedi eis, et pátribus eórum.
