הַדָּבָ֞ר אֲשֶׁר־הָיָ֤ה אֶֽל־יִרְמְיָ֨הוּ֙ מֵאֵ֣ת יְהוָ֔ה אַחַ֣ר ׀ שַׁלַּ֣ח אֹת֗וֹ נְבוּזַרְאֲדָ֛ן רַב־טַבָּחִ֖ים מִן הָֽ־רָמָ֑ה בְּקַחְתּ֣וֹ אֹת֗וֹ וְהֽוּא־אָס֤וּר בָּֽאזִקִּים֙ בְּת֨וֹךְ כָּל־גָּל֤וּת יְרוּשָׁלִַ֨ם֙ וִֽיהוּדָ֔ה הַמֻּגְלִ֖ים בָּבֶֽלָה׃

λόγος γενόμενος παρὰ Κυρίου πρὸς Ἰερεμίαν μετὰ τὸ ἀποστεῖλαι αὐτὸν Ναβουζαρδὰν τὸν ἀρχιμάγειρον τὸν ἐκ Δαμάν, ἐν τῷ λαβεῖν αὐτὸν ἐν χειροπέδαις ἐν μέσῳ ἀποικίας Ἰούδα τῶν ἠγμένων εἰς Βαβυλῶνα.

Sermo, qui factus est ad Ieremíam a Dómino, postquam dimíssus est a Nabuzárdan magístro milítiæ de Rama, quando tulit eum vinctum caténis in médio ómnium, qui migrábant de Ierúsalem et Iuda, et ducebántur in Babylónem.

The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, after that Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had let him go from Ramah, when he had taken him being bound in chains among all that were carried away captive of Jerusalem and Judah, which were carried away captive unto Babylon.

ἰδοὺ ἔλυσά σε ἀπὸ τῶν χειροπέδων τῶν ἐπὶ τὰς χεῖράς σου · εἰ καλὸν ἐναντίον σου ἐλθεῖν μετ᾽ ἐμοῦ εἰς Βαβυλῶνα, καὶ θήσω τοὺς ὀφθαλμούς μου ἐπὶ σέ ·

Nunc ergo ecce solvi te hódie de caténis, quæ sunt in mánibus tuis: si placet tibi ut vénias mecum in Babylónem, veni: et ponam óculos meos super te: si autem dísplicet tibi veníre mecum in Babylónem, réside: ecce omnis terra in conspéctu tuo est: quod elégeris, et quo placúerit tibi ut vadas, illuc perge.

And now, behold, I loose thee this day from the chains which [were] upon thine hand. If it seem good unto thee to come with me into Babylon, come; and I will look well unto thee: but if it seem ill unto thee to come with me into Babylon, forbear: behold, all the land [is] before thee: whither it seemeth good and convenient for thee to go, thither go.

εἰ δὲ μή, ἀπότρεχε, ἀνάστρεψον πρὸς τὸν Γοδολίαν υἱὸν Ἀχεικὰμ υἱοῦ Σαφάν, ὃν κατέστησεν βασιλεὺς Βαβυλῶνος ἐν γῇ Ἰούδα, καὶ οἴκησον μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ ἐν μέσῳ τοῦ λαοῦ ἐν γῇ Ἰούδα · εἰς ἅπαντα τὰ ἀγαθὰ ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς σου τοῦ πορευθῆναι, πορεύου. καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτῷ ἀρχιμάγειρος δῶρα καὶ ἀπέστειλεν αὐτόν.

Et mecum noli veníre, sed hábita apud Godolíam fílium Ahicam fílii Saphan, quem præpósuit rex Babylónis civitátibus Iuda: hábita ergo cum eo in médio pópuli: vel quocúmque placúerit tibi ut vadas, vade. Dedit quoque ei magíster milítiæ cibária et munúscula, et dimísit eum.

Now while he was not yet gone back, [he said], Go back also to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon hath made governor over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him among the people: or go wheresoever it seemeth convenient unto thee to go. So the captain of the guard gave him victuals and a reward, and let him go.

Καὶ ἤκουσαν πάντες οἱ ἡγεμόνες τῆς δυνάμεως τῆς ἐν ἀγρῷ, αὐτοὶ καὶ οἱ ἄνδρες αὐτῶν, ὅτι κατέστησεν βασιλεὺς Βαβυλῶνος τὸν Γοδολίαν ἐν τῇ γῇ, καὶ παρεκατέθεντο αὐτῷ ἄνδρας καὶ γυναῖκας αὐτῶν οὓς οὐκ ἀπῴκισεν εἰς Βαβυλῶνα.

Now when all the captains of the forces which [were] in the fields, [even] they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam governor in the land, and had committed unto him men, and women, and children, and of the poor of the land, of them that were not carried away captive to Babylon;

καὶ ἦλθεν πρὸς Γοδολίαν εἰς Μασσηφὰ Ἰσμαὴλ υἱὸς Ναθανίου καὶ Ἰωνὰν υἱὸς Καρῆε καὶ Σαραιὰ υἱὸς Θαναέμαιθ καὶ υἱοὶ Ἰωφὲ τοῦ Νετωφατεὶ καὶ Ἰεζονίας υἱὸς τοῦ Μοχατεί, αὐτοὶ καὶ οἱ ἄνδρες αὐτῶν.

καὶ ὤμοσεν αὐτοῖς Γοδολίας καὶ τοῖς ἀνδράσιν αὐτῶν λέγων Μὴ φοβηθῆτε ἀπὸ προσώπου παίδων τῶν Χαλδαίων · κατοικήσατε ἐν τῇ γῇ καὶ ἐργάσασθε τῷ βασιλεῖ Βαβυλῶνος, καὶ βέλτιον ἔσται ὑμῖν.

καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ κάθημαι ἐναντίον ὑμῶν εἰς Μασσηφὰ στῆναι κατὰ πρόσωπον τῶν Χαλδαίων οἳ ἂν ἔλθωσιν ἐφ᾽ ὑμᾶς · καὶ ὑμεῖς συναγάγετε οἶνον καὶ ὀπώραν καὶ ἔλαιον, καὶ βάλετε εἰς τὰ ἀγγεῖα ὑμῶν, καὶ οἰκήσατε ἐν ταῖς πόλεσιν αἷς κατεκρατήσατε.

καὶ πάντες οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι οἱ ἐν Μωὰβ καὶ ἐν υἱοῖς Ἀμμὼν καὶ οἱ ἐν τῇ Ἰδουμαίᾳ καὶ οἱ ἐν πάσῃ τῇ γῇ ἤκουσαν ὅτι ἔδωκεν βασιλεὺς Βαβυλῶνος κατάλιμμα τῷ Ἰούδᾳ, καὶ ὅτι κατέστησεν ἐπ᾽ αὐτοὺς τὸν Γοδολίαν υἱὸν Ἀχεικάμ.

καὶ εἶπαν αὐτῷ Εἰ γνώσει γινώσκεις ὅτι Βελεισὰ βασιλεὺς υἱῶν Ἀμμὼν ἀπέστειλεν πρὸς σὲ τὸν Ἰσμαὴλ πατάξαι σου ψυχήν? καὶ οὐκ ἐπίστευσεν αὐτοῖς Γοδολίας.

et dixérunt ei: Scito quod Báalis rex filiórum Ammon misit Ismahel fílium Nathaníæ percútere ánimam tuam. Et non crédidit eis Godolías fílius Ahicam.

καὶ Ἰωανὰν εἶπεν τῷ Γοδολίᾳ κρυφαίως ἐν Μασσηθά Πορεύσομαι δὴ καὶ πατάξω τὸν Ἰσμαήλ, καὶ μηθεὶς γνώτω, μὴ πατάξῃ σου ψυχὴν καὶ διασπαρῇ πᾶς Ἰουδὰ οἱ συνηγμένοι πρὸς σὲ καὶ ἀπολοῦνται οἱ κατάλοιποι Ἰούδα.

Ióhanan autem fílius Carée dixit ad Godolíam seórsum in Masphath, loquens: Ibo, et percútiam Ismahel fílium Nathaníæ, nullo sciénte, ne interfíciat ánimam tuam, et dissipéntur omnes Iudǽi, qui congregáti sunt ad te, et períbunt relíquiæ Iuda.

Then Johanan the son of Kareah spake to Gedaliah in Mizpah secretly, saying, Let me go, I pray thee, and I will slay Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and no man shall know [it]: wherefore should he slay thee, that all the Jews which are gathered unto thee should be scattered, and the remnant in Judah perish?
