וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוָ֤ה אֶל־יְהוֹשֻׁ֨עַ֙ אַל־תִּירָ֣א וְאַל־תֵּחָ֔ת קַ֣ח עִמְּךָ֗ אֵ֚ת כָּל־עַ֣ם הַמִּלְחָמָ֔ה וְק֖וּם עֲלֵ֣ה הָעָ֑י רְאֵ֣ה ׀ נָתַ֣תִּי בְיָדְךָ֗ אֶת־מֶ֤לֶךְ הָעַי֙ וְאֶת עַמּ֔־וֹ וְאֶת עִיר֖־וֹ וְאֶת אַרְצֽ־וֹ׃

Καὶ εἶπεν Κύριος πρὸς Ἰησοῦν Μὴ φοβηθῇς μηδὲ δειλιάσῃς · λάβε μετὰ σοῦ τοὺς ἄνδρας πάντας τοὺς πολεμιστάς, καὶ ἀναστὰς ἀνάβηθι εἰς Γαί. ἰδοὺ δέδωκα εἰς τὰς χεῖράς σου τὸν βασιλέα Γαὶ καὶ τὴν γῆν αὐτοῦ.

Dixit autem Dóminus ad Iósue: Ne tímeas, neque formídes: tolle tecum omnem multitúdinem pugnatórum, et consúrgens ascénde in óppidum Hai. Ecce trádidi in manu tua regem eius et pópulum, urbémque et terram.

And the LORD said unto Joshua, Fear not, neither be thou dismayed: take all the people of war with thee, and arise, go up to Ai: see, I have given into thy hand the king of Ai, and his people, and his city, and his land:

וְעָשִׂ֨יתָ לָעַ֜י וּלְמַלְכָּ֗הּ כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר עָשִׂ֤יתָ לִֽירִיחוֹ֙ וּלְמַלְכָּ֔הּ רַק שְׁלָלָ֥־הּ וּבְהֶמְתָּ֖הּ תָּבֹ֣זּוּ לָכֶ֑ם שִׂים לְ־ךָ֥ אֹרֵ֛ב לָעִ֖יר מֵאַחֲרֶֽיהָ׃

καὶ ποιήσεις τὴν Γαὶ ὅν τρόπον ἐποίησας τὴν Ἰερειχὼ καὶ τὸν βασιλέα αὐτῆς, καὶ τὴν προνομὴν τῶν κτηνῶν προνομεύσεις σεαυτῷ. κατάστησον δὲ σεαυτῷ ἔνεδρα τῇ πόλει εἰς τὰ ὀπίσω.

Faciésque urbi Hai, et regi eius, sicut fecísti Iéricho, et regi illíus: prædam vero, et ómnia animántia diripiétis vobis: pone insídias urbi post eam.

And thou shalt do to Ai and her king as thou didst unto Jericho and her king: only the spoil thereof, and the cattle thereof, shall ye take for a prey unto yourselves: lay thee an ambush for the city behind it.

וַיָּ֧קָם יְהוֹשֻׁ֛עַ וְכָל־עַ֥ם הַמִּלְחָמָ֖ה לַעֲל֣וֹת הָעָ֑י וַיִּבְחַ֣ר יְ֠הוֹשֻׁעַ שְׁלֹשִׁ֨ים אֶ֤לֶף אִישׁ֙ גִּבּוֹרֵ֣י הַחַ֔יִל וַיִּשְׁלָחֵ֖ם לָֽיְלָה׃

καὶ ἀνέστη Ἰησοῦς καὶ πᾶς λαὸς πολεμιστὴς ὥστε ἀναβῆναι εἰς Γαί. ἐπέλεξεν δὲ Ἰησοῦς τριάκοντα χιλιάδας ἀνδρῶν δυνατοὺς ἐν ἰσχύι, καὶ ἀπέστειλεν αὐτοὺς νυκτός.

καὶ ἐνετείλατο αὐτοῖς λέγων Ὑμεῖς ἐνεδρεύσατε ὀπίσω τῆς πόλεως · μὴ μακρὰν γίνεσθε ἀπὸ τῆς πόλεως, καὶ ἔσεσθε πάντες ἕτοιμοι.

Joshua therefore sent them forth: and they went to lie in ambush, and abode between Bethel and Ai, on the west side of Ai: but Joshua lodged that night among the people.

And Joshua rose up early in the morning, and numbered the people, and went up, he and the elders of Israel, before the people to Ai.

Quod cum vidísset rex Hai, festinávit mane, et egréssus est cum omni exércitu civitátis, direxítque áciem contra desértum, ignórans quod post tergum latérent insídiæ.

And it came to pass, when the king of Ai saw [it], that they hasted and rose up early, and the men of the city went out against Israel to battle, he and all his people, at a time appointed, before the plain; but he wist not that [there were] liers in ambush against him behind the city.

וְלֹֽא־נִשְׁאַ֣ר אִ֗ישׁ בָּעַי֙ וּבֵ֣ית אֵ֔ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹֽא־יָצְא֖וּ אַחֲרֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיַּעַזְב֤וּ אֶת הָ־עִיר֙ פְּתוּחָ֔ה וַֽיִּרְדְּפ֖וּ אַחֲרֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ פ

οὐ κατελείφθη οὐθεὶς ἐν τῇ Γαὶ ὃς οὐ κατεδίωξεν ὀπίσω Ἰσραήλ · καὶ κατέλιπον τὴν πόλιν ἀνεῳγμένην, καὶ κατεδίωξαν ὀπίσω Ἰσραήλ.

et ne unus quidem in urbe Hai et Bethel remansísset qui non persequerétur Israel ( sicut erúperant apérta óppida relinquéntes ),

καὶ εἶπεν Κύριος πρὸς Ἰησοῦν Ἔκτεινον τὴν χεῖρά σου ἐν τῷ γαίσῳ τῷ ἐν τῇ χειρί σου ἐπὶ τὴν πόλιν, εἰς γὰρ τὰς χεῖράς σου παραδέδωκα αὐτήν · καὶ τὰ ἔνεδρα ἐξαναστήσονται ἐν τάχει ἐκ τοῦ τόπου αὐτῶν. καὶ ἐξέτεινεν Ἰησοῦς τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ, τὸν γαῖσον, ἐπὶ τὴν πόλιν ·

And the LORD said unto Joshua, Stretch out the spear that [is] in thy hand toward Ai; for I will give it into thine hand. And Joshua stretched out the spear that [he had] in his hand toward the city.

καὶ τὰ ἔνεδρα ἐξανέστησαν ἐν τάχει ἐκ τοῦ τόπου αὐτῶν καὶ ἐξήλθοσαν ὅτε ἐξέτεινεν τὴν χεῖρα, καὶ ἤλθοσαν ἐπὶ τὴν πόλιν καὶ κατελάβοντο αὐτήν · καὶ σπεύσαντες ἐνέπρησαν τὴν πόλιν ἐν πυρί.

וַיִּפְנ֣וּ אַנְשֵׁי֩ הָעַ֨י אַחֲרֵיהֶ֜ם וַיִּרְא֗וּ וְהִנֵּ֨ה עָלָ֜ה עֲשַׁ֤ן הָעִיר֙ הַשָּׁמַ֔יְמָה וְלֹא־הָיָ֨ה בָהֶ֥ם יָדַ֛יִם לָנ֖וּס הֵ֣נָּה וָהֵ֑נָּה וְהָעָם֙ הַנָּ֣ס הַמִּדְבָּ֔ר נֶהְפַּ֖ךְ אֶל הָ־רוֹדֵֽף׃
