וּפְלִשְׁתִּים֙ לָֽקְח֔וּ אֵ֖ת אֲר֣וֹן הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים וַיְבִאֻ֛הוּ מֵאֶ֥בֶן הָעֵ֖זֶר אַשְׁדּֽוֹדָה׃

Καὶ ἀλλόφυλοι ἔλαβον τὴν κιβωτὸν τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ εἰσήνεγκαν αὐτὴν ἐξ Ἀβεννὴρ εἰς Ἄζωτον.

וַיִּקְח֤וּ פְלִשְׁתִּים֙ אֶת־אֲר֣וֹן הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים וַיָּבִ֥יאוּ אֹת֖וֹ בֵּ֣ית דָּג֑וֹן וַיַּצִּ֥יגוּ אֹת֖וֹ אֵ֥צֶל דָּגֽוֹן׃

καὶ ἔλαβον ἀλλόφυλοι τὴν κιβωτὸν Κυρίου καὶ εἰσήνεγκαν αὐτὴν εἰς οἶκον Δαγών, καὶ παρέστησαν αὐτὴν παρὰ Δαγών.

וַיַּשְׁכִּ֤מוּ אַשְׁדּוֹדִים֙ מִֽמָּחֳרָ֔ת וְהִנֵּ֣ה דָג֗וֹן נֹפֵ֤ל לְפָנָיו֙ אַ֔רְצָה לִפְנֵ֖י אֲר֣וֹן יְהוָ֑ה וַיִּקְחוּ֙ אֶת־דָּג֔וֹן וַיָּשִׁ֥בוּ אֹת֖וֹ לִמְקוֹמֽוֹ׃

καὶ ὤρθρισαν οἱ Ἀζώτιοι καὶ εἰσῆλθον εἰς οἶκον Δαγών, καὶ εἶδον καὶ ἰδοὺ Δαγὼν πεπτωκὼς ἐπὶ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ ἐνώπιον κιβωτοῦ τοῦ θεοῦ · καὶ ἤγειραν τὸν Δαγὼν καὶ κατέστησαν εἰς τὸν τόπον αὐτοῦ. καὶ ἐβαρύνθη χεὶρ Κυρίου ἐπὶ τοὺς Ἀζωτίους καὶ ἐβασάνισεν αὐτούς, καὶ ἐπάταξεν αὐτοὺς εἰς τὰς ἕδρας αὐτῶν, τὴν Ἄζωτον καὶ τὰ ὅρια αὐτῆς.

וַיַּשְׁכִּ֣מוּ בַבֹּקֶר֮ מִֽמָּחֳרָת֒ וְהִנֵּ֣ה דָג֗וֹן נֹפֵ֤ל לְפָנָיו֙ אַ֔רְצָה לִפְנֵ֖י אֲר֣וֹן יְהוָ֑ה וְרֹ֨אשׁ דָּג֜וֹן וּשְׁתֵּ֣י ׀ כַּפּ֣וֹת יָדָ֗יו כְּרֻתוֹת֙ אֶל הַ־מִּפְתָּ֔ן רַ֥ק דָּג֖וֹן נִשְׁאַ֥ר עָלָֽיו׃

καὶ ἐγένετο ὅτε ὤρθρισαν τὸ πρωί, καὶ ἰδοὺ Δαγὼν πεπτωκὼς ἐπὶ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ ἐνώπιον κιβωτοῦ διαθήκης Κυρίου · καὶ κεφαλὴ Δαγὼν καὶ ἀμφότερα τὰ ἴχνη χειρῶν αὐτοῦ ἀφῃρημένα ἐπὶ τὰ ἐμπρόσθια ἁμαφὲθ ἕκαστοι, καὶ ἀμφότεροι οἱ καρποὶ τῶν χειρῶν αὐτοῦ πεπτωκότες ἐπὶ τὸ πρόθυρον, πλὴν ῥάχις Δαγὼν ὑπελείφθη.

And when they arose early on the morrow morning, behold, Dagon [was] fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the LORD; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands [were] cut off upon the threshold; only [the stump of] Dagon was left to him.

עַל־כֵּ֡ן לֹֽא־יִדְרְכוּ֩ כֹהֲנֵ֨י דָג֜וֹן וְכָֽל הַ־בָּאִ֧ים בֵּית־דָּג֛וֹן עַל־מִפְתַּ֥ן דָּג֖וֹן בְּאַשְׁדּ֑וֹד עַ֖ד הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה׃ ס

διὰ τοῦτο οὐκ ἐπιβαίνουσιν οἱ ἱερεῖς Δαγὼν καὶ πᾶς εἰσπορευόμενος εἰς οἶκον Δαγὼν ἐπὶ βαθμὸν οἴκου Δαγὼν ἐν Ἀζώτῳ ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης, ὅτι ὑπερβαίνοντες ὑπερβαίνουσιν.

וַתִּכְבַּ֧ד יַד־יְהוָ֛ה אֶל הָ־אַשְׁדּוֹדִ֖ים וַיְשִׁמֵּ֑ם וַיַּ֤ךְ אֹתָם֙ בעפלים אֶת־אַשְׁדּ֖וֹד וְאֶת גְּבוּלֶֽי־הָ׃

καὶ ἐβαρύνθη χεὶρ Κυρίου ἐπὶ Ἄζωτον καὶ ἐπήγαγεν αὐτοῖς, καὶ ἐξέζεσεν αὐτοῖς εἰς τὰς ναῦς, καὶ μέσον τῆς χώρας αὐτῆς ἀνεφύησαν μύες · καὶ ἐγένετο σύνχυσις θανὰτου μεγάλη ἐν τῇ πόλει.

Aggraváta est autem manus Dómini super Azótios, et demolítus est eos: et percússit in secretióri parte nátium Azótum, et fines eius. Et ebulliérunt villæ et agri in médio regiónis illíus, et nati sunt mures, et facta est confúsio mortis magnæ in civitáte.

But the hand of the LORD was heavy upon them of Ashdod, and he destroyed them, and smote them with emerods, [even] Ashdod and the coasts thereof.

וַיִּרְא֥וּ אַנְשֵֽׁי־אַשְׁדּ֖וֹד כִּֽי־כֵ֑ן וְאָמְר֗וּ לֹֽא־יֵשֵׁ֞ב אֲר֨וֹן אֱלֹהֵ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ עִמָּ֔נוּ כִּֽי־קָשְׁתָ֤ה יָדוֹ֙ עָלֵ֔ינוּ וְעַ֖ל דָּג֥וֹן אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃

καὶ εἶδον οἱ ἄνδρες Ἀζώτου ὅτι οὕτως, καὶ λέγουσιν ὅτι Οὐ καθήσεται κιβωτὸς τοῦ θεοῦ μεθ᾽ ἡμῶν, ὅτι σκληρὰ χεὶρ αὐτοῦ ἐφ᾽ ἡμᾶς καὶ ἐπὶ Δαγὼν θεὸν ἡμῶν.

Vidéntes autem viri Azótii huiuscémodi plagam, dixérunt: Non máneat arca Dei Israel apud nos: quóniam dura est manus eius super nos, et super Dagon deum nostrum.

וַיִּשְׁלְח֡וּ וַיַּאַסְפוּ֩ אֶת־כָּל־סַרְנֵ֨י פְלִשְׁתִּ֜ים אֲלֵיהֶ֗ם וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ מַֽה־נַּעֲשֶׂ֗ה לַֽאֲרוֹן֙ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ גַּ֣ת יִסֹּ֔ב אֲר֖וֹן אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיַּסֵּ֕בּוּ אֶת־אֲר֖וֹן אֱלֹהֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ ס

καὶ ἀποστέλλουσιν καὶ συνάγουσιν τοὺς σατράπας τῶν ἀλλοφύλων πρὸς αὐτοὺς καὶ λέγουσιν Τί ποιήσωμεν κιβωτῷ θεοῦ Ἰσραήλ; καὶ λέγουσιν οἱ Γεθθαῖοι Μετελθέτω κιβωτὸς τοῦ θεοῦ πρὸς ἡμᾶς · καὶ μετῆλθεν κιβωτὸς τοῦ θεοῦ εἰς Γέθθα.

Et mitténtes congregavérunt omnes sátrapas Philisthinórum ad se, et dixérunt: Quid faciémus de arca Dei Israel? Responderúntque Gethǽi: Circumducátur arca Dei Israel. Et circumduxérunt arcam Dei Israel.

They sent therefore and gathered all the lords of the Philistines unto them, and said, What shall we do with the ark of the God of Israel? And they answered, Let the ark of the God of Israel be carried about unto Gath. And they carried the ark of the God of Israel about [thither].

καὶ ἐγενήθη μετὰ τὸ μετελθεῖν αὐτὴν καὶ γίνεται χεὶρ Κυρίου τῇ πόλει, τάραχος μέγας σφόδρα · καὶ ἐπάταξεν τοὺς ἄνδρας τῆς πόλεως ἀπὸ μικροῦ ἕως μεγάλου, καὶ ἐπάταξεν αὐτοὺς εἰς τὰς ἕδρας αὐτῶν. καὶ ἐποίησαν ἑαυτοῖς οἱ Γεθθαῖοι ἕδρας,

Illis autem circumducéntibus eam, fiébat manus Dómini per síngulas civitátes interfectiónis magnæ nimis: et percutiébat viros uniuscuiúsque urbis, a parvo usque ad maiórem, et computrescébant prominéntes extáles eórum. Inierúntque Gethǽi consílium, et fecérunt sibi sedes pellíceas.

And it was [so], that, after they had carried it about, the hand of the LORD was against the city with a very great destruction: and he smote the men of the city, both small and great, and they had emerods in their secret parts.

καὶ ἐξαποστέλλουσιν τὴν κιβωτὸν τοῦ θεοῦ εἰς Ἀσκάλωνα. καὶ ἐγενήθη ὡς εἰσῆλθεν κιβωτὸς θεοῦ εἰς Ἀσκάλωνα, καὶ ἐβόησαν οἱ Ἀσκαλωνεῖται λέγοντες Τί ἀπεστρέψατε πρὸς ἡμᾶς τὴν κιβωτὸν τοῦ θεοῦ Ἰσραήλ, θανατῶσαι ἡμᾶς καὶ τὸν λαὸν ἡμῶν;

Therefore they sent the ark of God to Ekron. And it came to pass, as the ark of God came to Ekron, that the Ekronites cried out, saying, They have brought about the ark of the God of Israel to us, to slay us and our people.
