בֶּן־עֶשְׂרִ֨ים וְחָמֵ֤שׁ שָׁנָה֙ מָלַ֣ךְ אֲמַצְיָ֔הוּ וְעֶשְׂרִ֣ים וָתֵ֨שַׁע֙ שָׁנָ֔ה מָלַ֖ךְ בִּירוּשָׁלִָ֑ם וְשֵׁ֣ם אִמּ֔וֹ יְהוֹעַדָּ֖ן מִירוּשָׁלָֽיִם׃

Ὢν πέντε καὶ εἴκοσι ἐτῶν ἐβασίλευσεν Ἀμασείας, καὶ εἴκοσι ἐννέα ἔτη ἐβασίλευσεν ἐν Ἰερουσαλήμ, καὶ ὄνομα τῇ μητρὶ αὐτοῦ Ἰωναὰ ἀπὸ Ἰερουσαλήμ.

וַיְהִ֕י כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר חָזְקָ֥ה הַמַּמְלָכָ֖ה עָלָ֑יו וַֽיַּהֲרֹג֙ אֶת עֲבָדָ֔י־ו הַמַּכִּ֖ים אֶת הַ־מֶּ֥לֶךְ אָבִֽיו׃

καὶ ἐγένετο ὡς κατέστη βασιλεία ἐν χειρὶ αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐθανάτωσεν τοὺς παῖδας αὐτοῦ τοὺς φονεύσαντας τὸν βασιλέα πατέρα αὐτοῦ.

וְאֶת בְּנֵי־הֶ֖ם לֹ֣א הֵמִ֑ית כִּ֣י כַכָּת֣וּב בַּתּוֹרָ֡ה בְּסֵ֣פֶר מֹשֶׁה֩ אֲשֶׁר־צִוָּ֨ה יְהוָ֜ה לֵאמֹ֗ר לֹא־יָמ֨וּתוּ אָב֤וֹת עַל־בָּנִים֙ וּבָנִים֙ לֹא־יָמ֣וּתוּ עַל־אָב֔וֹת כִּ֛י אִ֥ישׁ בְּחֶטְא֖וֹ יָמֽוּתוּ׃ פ

καὶ τοὺς υἱοὺς αὐτῶν οὐκ ἀπέκτεινεν, κατὰ τὴν διαθήκην τοῦ νόμου Κυρίου καθὼς γέγραπται, ὡς ἐνετείλατο Κύριος λέγων Οὐκ ἀποθανοῦνται πατέρες ὑπὲρ τέκνων, καὶ υἱοὶ οὐκ ἀποθανοῦνται ὑπὲρ πατέρων, ἀλλ᾽ ἕκαστος τῇ ἑαυτοῦ ἁμαρτίᾳ ἀποθανοῦνται.

וַיִּקְבֹּ֤ץ אֲמַצְיָ֨הוּ֙ אֶת־יְהוּדָ֔ה וַיַּֽעֲמִידֵ֣ם לְבֵית־אָב֗וֹת לְשָׂרֵ֤י הָאֲלָפִים֙ וּלְשָׂרֵ֣י הַמֵּא֔וֹת לְכָל־יְהוּדָ֖ה וּבִנְיָמִ֑ן וַֽיִּפְקְדֵ֗ם לְמִבֶּ֨ן עֶשְׂרִ֤ים שָׁנָה֙ וָמַ֔עְלָה וַיִּמְצָאֵ֗ם שְׁלֹשׁ־מֵא֨וֹת אֶ֤לֶף בָּחוּר֙ יוֹצֵ֣א צָבָ֔א אֹחֵ֖ז רֹ֥מַח וְצִנָּֽה׃

Καὶ συνήγαγεν Ἀμασείας τὸν οἶκον Ἰούδα, καὶ ἀνέστησεν αὐτοὺς κατ᾽ οἴκους πατριῶν αὐτῶν εἰς χιλιάρχους καὶ ἑκατοντάρχους παντὶ Ἰούδᾳ καὶ Ἰερουσαλήμ · καὶ ἠρίθμησεν αὐτοὺς ἀπὸ εἰκοσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω, καὶ εὗρεν αὐτοὺς τριακοσίας χιλιάδας, δυνατοὺς ἐξελθεῖν εἰς πόλεμον, κρατοῦντας δόρυ καὶ θυρεόν.

Congregávit ígitur Amasías Iudam, et constítuit eos per famílias, tribunósque et centuriónes in univérso Iuda, et Béniamin: et recénsuit a vigínti annis supra, invenítque trecénta míllia iúvenum, qui egrederéntur ad pugnam, et tenérent hastam et clýpeum.

Moreover Amaziah gathered Judah together, and made them captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, according to the houses of [their] fathers, throughout all Judah and Benjamin: and he numbered them from twenty years old and above, and found them three hundred thousand choice [men, able] to go forth to war, that could handle spear and shield.

καὶ ἐμισθώσατο ἀπὸ Ἰσραὴλ ἑκατὸν χιλιάδας, δυνατοὺς ἰσχύι, ἑκατὸν ταλάντων ἀργυρίου.

וְאִ֣ישׁ הָאֱלֹהִ֗ים בָּ֤א אֵלָיו֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר הַמֶּ֕לֶךְ אַל־יָבֹ֥א עִמְּךָ֖ צְבָ֣א יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל כִּ֣י אֵ֤ין יְהוָה֙ עִם־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל כֹּ֖ל בְּנֵ֥י אֶפְרָֽיִם׃

καὶ ἄνθρωπος τοῦ θεοῦ ἦλθεν πρὸς αὐτὸν λέγων Βασιλεῦ, οὐ πορεύσεται μετὰ σοῦ δύναμις Ἰσραήλ, ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν Κύριος μετὰ Ἰσραὴλ πάντων τῶν υἱῶν Ἐφράιμ.

Venit autem homo Dei ad illum, et ait: O rex, ne egrediátur tecum exércitus Israel: non est enim Dóminus cum Israel, et cunctis fíliis Ephraim:

כִּ֚י אִם־בֹּ֣א אַתָּ֔ה עֲשֵׂ֖ה חֲזַ֣ק לַמִּלְחָמָ֑ה יַכְשִֽׁילְךָ֤ הָֽאֱלֹהִים֙ לִפְנֵ֣י אוֹיֵ֔ב כִּ֥י יֶשׁ־כֹּ֛חַ בֵּאלֹהִ֖ים לַעְז֥וֹר וּלְהַכְשִֽׁיל׃

ὅτι ἐὰν ὑπολάβῃς κατισχῦσαι ἐν τούτοις, καὶ τροπώσεταί σε Κύριος ἐναντίον τῶν ἐχθρῶν, ὅτι ἐστὶν παρὰ Κυρίου καὶ ἰσχῦσαι καὶ τροπώσασθαι.

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֲמַצְיָ֨הוּ֙ לְאִ֣ישׁ הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים וּמַֽה לַּ־עֲשׂוֹת֙ לִמְאַ֣ת הַכִּכָּ֔ר אֲשֶׁ֥ר נָתַ֖תִּי לִגְד֣וּד יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיֹּ֨אמֶר֙ אִ֣ישׁ הָֽאֱלֹהִ֔ים יֵ֚שׁ לַֽיהוָ֔ה לָ֥תֶת לְךָ֖ הַרְבֵּ֥ה מִזֶּֽה׃

καὶ εἶπεν Ἀμασίας τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ τοῦ θεοῦ Καὶ τί ποιήσω τὰ ἑκατὸν τάλαντα ἔδωκα τῇ δυνάμει Ἰσραήλ; καὶ εἶπεν ἄνθρωπος τοῦ θεοῦ Ἔστιν τῷ κυρίῳ δοῦναί σοι πλεῖστα τούτων.

Dixítque Amasías ad hóminem Dei: Quid ergo fiet de centum taléntis, quæ dedi milítibus Israel? Et respóndit ei homo Dei: Habet Dóminus unde tibi dare possit multo his plura.

וַיַּבְדִּילֵ֣ם אֲמַצְיָ֗הוּ לְהַגְּדוּד֙ אֲשֶׁר־בָּ֤א אֵלָיו֙ מֵֽאֶפְרַ֔יִם לָלֶ֖כֶת לִמְקוֹמָ֑ם וַיִּ֨חַר אַפָּ֤ם מְאֹד֙ בִּֽיהוּדָ֔ה וַיָּשׁ֥וּבוּ לִמְקוֹמָ֖ם בָּחֳרִי־אָֽף׃ פ

καὶ διεχώρισεν Ἀμασείας τῇ δυνάμει τῇ ἐλθούσῃ πρὸς αὐτὸν ἀπὸ Ἐφράιμ ἀπελθεῖν εἰς τὸν τόπον αὐτῶν · καὶ ἐθυμώθησαν σφόδρα ἐπὶ Ἰούδαν, καὶ ἐπέστρεψαν εἰς τὸν τόπον αὐτῶν ἐν ὀργῇ θυμοῦ.

וַאֲמַצְיָ֨הוּ֙ הִתְחַזַּ֔ק וַיִּנְהַג֙ אֶת עַמּ֔־וֹ וַיֵּ֖לֶךְ גֵּ֣יא הַמֶּ֑לַח וַיַּ֥ךְ אֶת־בְּנֵי־שֵׂעִ֖יר עֲשֶׂ֥רֶת אֲלָפִֽים׃

καὶ Ἀμασείας κατίσχυσεν καὶ παρέλαβεν τὸν λαὸν αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐπορεύθη εἰς τὴν κοιλάδα τῶν ἁλῶν, καὶ ἐπάταξεν ἐκεῖ τοὺς υἱοὺς Σηεὶρ δέκα χιλιάδας.

וַעֲשֶׂ֨רֶת אֲלָפִ֜ים חַיִּ֗ים שָׁבוּ֙ בְּנֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֔ה וַיְבִיא֖וּם לְרֹ֣אשׁ הַסָּ֑לַע וַיַּשְׁלִיכ֛וּם מֵֽרֹאשׁ הַ־סֶּ֖לַע וְכֻלָּ֥ם נִבְקָֽעוּ׃ ס

καὶ δέκα χιλιάδας ἐζώγρησαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ἰούδα, καὶ ἔφερον αὐτοὺς ἐπὶ τὸ ἄκρον τοῦ κρημνοῦ, καὶ κατεκρήμνιζον αὐτοὺς ἀπὸ τοῦ ἄκρου τοῦ κρημνοῦ, καὶ πάντες διερρήγνυντο.

et ália decem míllia virórum cepérunt fílii Iuda, et adduxérunt ad prærúptum cuiúsdam petræ, præcipitaverúntque eos de summo in præceps: qui univérsi crepuérunt.

וּבְנֵ֣י הַגְּד֗וּד אֲשֶׁ֨ר הֵשִׁ֤יב אֲמַצְיָ֨הוּ֙ מִלֶּ֤כֶת עִמּוֹ֙ לַמִּלְחָמָ֔ה וַֽיִּפְשְׁטוּ֙ בְּעָרֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֔ה מִשֹּׁמְר֖וֹן וְעַד־בֵּ֣ית חוֹר֑וֹן וַיַּכּ֤וּ מֵהֶם֙ שְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת אֲלָפִ֔ים וַיָּבֹ֖זּוּ בִּזָּ֥ה רַבָּֽה׃ ס

καὶ υἱοὶ τῆς δυνάμεως οὓς ἀπέστρεψεν Ἀμασείας τοῦ μὴ εὑρεθῆναι μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ εἰς πόλεμον, καὶ ἐπέθεντο ἐπὶ τὰς πόλεις Ἰούδα ἀπὸ Σαμαρείας ἕως Βαιθωρών, καὶ ἐπάταξεν ἐν αὐτοῖς τρεῖς χιλιάδας καὶ ἐσκύλευσεν σκῦλα πολλά.

וַיְהִ֗י אַחֲרֵ֨י ב֤וֹא אֲמַצְיָ֨הוּ֙ מֵֽהַכּ֣וֹת אֶת־אֲדוֹמִ֔ים וַיָּבֵ֗א אֶת־אֱלֹהֵי֙ בְּנֵ֣י שֵׂעִ֔יר וַיַּֽעֲמִידֵ֥ם ל֖וֹ לֵאלֹהִ֑ים וְלִפְנֵיהֶ֥ם יִֽשְׁתַּחֲוֶ֖ה וְלָהֶ֥ם יְקַטֵּֽר׃

Καὶ ἐγένετο μετὰ τὸ ἐλθεῖν Ἀμασείαν πατάξαντος τὴν Ἰδουμαίαν, καὶ ἤνεγκεν πρὸς αὐτοὺς τοὺς θεὺς υἱῶν Σηείρ, καὶ ἔστησεν αὐτοὺς αὑτῷ εἰς θεούς, καὶ ἔστησεν ἐναντίον αὐτῶν προσκυνεῖν, καὶ αὐτὸς αὐτοῖς ἔθυεν.

וַיִּֽחַר־אַ֥ף יְהוָ֖ה בַּאֲמַצְיָ֑הוּ וַיִּשְׁלַ֤ח אֵלָיו֙ נָבִ֔יא וַיֹּ֣אמֶר ל֗וֹ לָ֤מָּה דָרַ֨שְׁתָּ֙ אֶת־אֱלֹהֵ֣י הָעָ֔ם אֲשֶׁ֛ר לֹא־הִצִּ֥ילוּ אֶת עַמָּ֖־ם מִיָּדֶֽךָ׃

καὶ ἐγένετο ὀργὴ Κυρίου ἐπὶ Ἀμασείαν, καὶ ἀπέστειλεν αὐτῷ προφήτας καὶ εἶπαν αὐτῷ Τί ἐζήτησας τοὺς θεοὺς τοῦ λαοῦ οἳ οὐκ ἐξείλαντο τὸν λαὸν αὐτῶν ἐκ χειρός σου;

Quam ob rem irátus Dóminus contra Amasíam misit ad illum prophétam, qui díceret ei: Cur adorásti deos, qui non liberavérunt pópulum suum de manu tua?

Wherefore the anger of the LORD was kindled against Amaziah, and he sent unto him a prophet, which said unto him, Why hast thou sought after the gods of the people, which could not deliver their own people out of thine hand?

וַיְהִ֣י ׀ בְּדַבְּר֣וֹ אֵלָ֗יו וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לוֹ֙ הַלְיוֹעֵ֤ץ לַמֶּ֨לֶךְ֙ נְתַנּ֔וּךָ חֲדַל לְ־ךָ֖ לָ֣מָּה יַכּ֑וּךָ וַיֶּחְדַּ֣ל הַנָּבִ֗יא וַיֹּ֨אמֶר֙ יָדַ֗עְתִּי כִּֽי־יָעַ֤ץ אֱלֹהִים֙ לְהַשְׁחִיתֶ֔ךָ כִּֽי־עָשִׂ֣יתָ זֹּ֔את וְלֹ֥א שָׁמַ֖עְתָּ לַעֲצָתִֽי׃ פ

καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ λαλῆσαι αὐτῷ, καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Μὴ σύμβουλον τοῦ βασιλέως δέδωκά σε; πρόσεχε μὴ μαστιγωθῇς. καὶ ἐσιώπησεν προφήτης, καὶ εἶπεν ὅτι Γινώσκω ὅτι ἐβούλετο ἐπὶ σοὶ τοῦ καταφθεῖραί σε, ὅτι ἐποίησας τοῦτο καὶ οὐκ ἐπήκουσας τῆς συμβουλίας μου.

Cumque hæc ille loquerétur, respóndit ei: Num consiliárius regis es? quiésce, ne interfíciam te. Discedénsque prophéta: Scio, inquit, quod cogitáverit Deus occídere te, quia fecísti hoc malum, et ínsuper non acquievísti consílio meo.

And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that [the king] said unto him, Art thou made of the king ’s counsel? forbear; why shouldest thou be smitten? Then the prophet forbare, and said, I know that God hath determined to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened unto my counsel.

וַיִּוָּעַ֗ץ אֲמַצְיָ֨הוּ֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֔ה וַ֠יִּשְׁלַח אֶל־יוֹאָ֨שׁ בֶּן־יְהוֹאָחָ֧ז בֶּן־יֵה֛וּא מֶ֥לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לֵאמֹ֑ר לך נִתְרָאֶ֥ה פָנִֽים׃

Igitur Amasías rex Iuda ínito péssimo consílio, misit ad Ioas fílium Ióachaz fílii Iehu, regem Israel, dicens: Veni, videámus nos mútuo.

וַיִּשְׁלַ֞ח יוֹאָ֣שׁ מֶֽלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל אֶל־אֲמַצְיָ֣הוּ מֶֽלֶךְ־יְהוּדָה֮ לֵאמֹר֒ הַח֜וֹחַ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בַּלְּבָנ֗וֹן שָׁ֠לַח אֶל הָ־אֶ֜רֶז אֲשֶׁ֤ר בַּלְּבָנוֹן֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר תְּנָֽה־אֶת בִּתְּ־ךָ֥ לִבְנִ֖י לְאִשָּׁ֑ה וַֽתַּעֲבֹ֞ר חַיַּ֤ת הַשָּׂדֶה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בַּלְּבָנ֔וֹן וַתִּרְמֹ֖ס אֶת הַ־חֽוֹחַ׃

καὶ ἀπέστειλεν Ἰωὰς βασιλεὺς Ἰσραὴλ πρὸς Ἀμασείαν βασιλέα Ἰούδα λέγων χοζεὶ ἐν τῷ Λιβάνῳ ἀπέστειλεν πρὸς τὴν κέδρον τὴν ἐν τῷ Λιβάνῳ λέγων Δὸς τὴν θυγατέρα σου τῷ υἱῷ μου εἰς γυναῖκα, ἰδοὺ ἐλεύσεται τὰ θηρία τοῦ ἀγροῦ τὰ ἐν τῷ Λιβάνῳ · καὶ ἦλθαν τὰ θηρία καὶ κατεπάτησαν τὸν ἁχούχ.

At ille remísit núntios, dicens: Cárduus, qui est in Líbano, misit ad cedrum Líbani, dicens: Da fíliam tuam fílio meo uxórem: et ecce béstiæ, quæ erant in silva Líbani, transiérunt, et conculcavérunt cárduum.
