וַיֹּ֨סֶף֙ אַף־יְהוָ֔ה לַחֲר֖וֹת בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיָּ֨סֶת אֶת־דָּוִ֤ד בָּהֶם֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר לֵ֛ךְ מְנֵ֥ה אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל וְאֶת־יְהוּדָֽה׃

Καὶ προσέθετο ὀργὴν Κύριος ἐκκαῆναι ἐν Ἰσραήλ, καὶ ἐπέσεισεν τὸν Δαυεὶδ ἐν αὐτοῖς λέγων Βάδιζε ἀρίθμησον τὸν Ἰσραὴλ καὶ τὸν Ἰουδά.

καὶ εἶπεν βασιλεὺς πρὸς Ἰωὰβ ἄρχοντα τῆς ἰσχύος τὸν μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ Δίελθε δὴ πάσας φυλὰς Ἰσραὴλ ἀπὸ Δὰν καὶ ἕως Βηρσάβεε καὶ ἐπίσκεψαι τὸν λαόν, καὶ γνώσομαι τὸν ἀριθμὸν τοῦ λαοῦ.

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יוֹאָ֜ב אֶל הַ־מֶּ֗לֶךְ וְיוֹסֵ֣ף יְהוָה֩ אֱלֹהֶ֨יךָ אֶל הָ־עָ֜ם כָּהֵ֤ם ׀ וְכָהֵם֙ מֵאָ֣ה פְעָמִ֔ים וְעֵינֵ֥י אֲדֹנִֽי הַ־מֶּ֖לֶךְ רֹא֑וֹת וַאדֹנִ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ לָ֥מָּה חָפֵ֖ץ בַּדָּבָ֥ר הַזֶּֽה׃

καὶ εἶπεν Ἰωὰβ πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα Καὶ προσθείη Κύριος θεὸς πρὸς τὸν λαὸν ὥσπερ αὐτοὺς καὶ ὥσπερ αὐτοὺς ἑκατονταπλασίονα, καὶ ὀφθαλμοὶ τοῦ κυρίου μου τοῦ βασιλέως ὁρῶντες · καὶ κύριός μου βασιλεὺς ἵνα τί βούλεται ἐν τῷ λόγῳ τούτῳ?

וַיֶּחֱזַ֤ק דְּבַר הַ־מֶּ֨לֶךְ֙ אֶל־יוֹאָ֔ב וְעַ֖ל שָׂרֵ֣י הֶחָ֑יִל וַיֵּצֵ֨א יוֹאָ֜ב וְשָׂרֵ֤י הַחַ֨יִל֙ לִפְנֵ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ לִפְקֹ֥ד אֶת הָ־עָ֖ם אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

καὶ ὑπερίσχυσεν λόγος τοῦ βασιλέως πρὸς Ἰωὰβ καὶ εἰς τοὺς ἄρχοντας τῆς δυνάμεως · καὶ ἐξῆλθεν Ἰωὰβ καὶ οἱ ἄρχοντες τῆς ἰσχύος ἐνώπιον τοῦ βασιλέως ἐπισκέψασθαι τὸν λαὸν Ἰσραήλ.

καὶ ἔδωκεν Ἰωὰβ τὸν ἀριθμὸν τῆς ἐπισκέψεως τοῦ λαοῦ πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα · καὶ ἐγένετο Ἰσραὴλ ὀκτακόσιαι χιλιάδες ἀνδρῶν δυνάμεως σπωμένων ῥομφαίαν, καὶ ἀνὴρ Ἰούδα πεντακόσιαι χιλιάδες ἀνδρῶν μαχητῶν.

Καὶ ἐπάταξεν καρδία Δαυεὶδ αὐτὸν μετὰ τὸ ἀριθμῆσαι τὸν λαόν · καὶ εἶπεν Δαυεὶδ πρὸς Κύριον Ἥμαρτον σφόδρα ἐποίησα · νῦν, Κύριε, παραβίβασον δὴ τὴν ἀνομίαν τοῦ δούλου σου, ὅτι ἐμωράνθην σφόδρα.

הָל֞וֹךְ וְדִבַּרְתָּ֣ אֶל־דָּוִ֗ד כֹּ֚ה אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה שָׁלֹ֕שׁ אָנֹכִ֖י נוֹטֵ֣ל עָלֶ֑יךָ בְּחַר לְ־ךָ֥ אַֽחַת מֵ־הֶ֖ם וְאֶֽעֱשֶׂה לָּֽ־ךְ׃

Πορεύθητι καὶ λάλησον πρὸς Δαυεὶδ λέγων Τάδε λέγει Κύριος Τρία ἐγώ εἰμι αἴρω ἐπὶ σέ, καὶ ἔκλεξαι σεαυτῷ ἓν ἐξ αὐτῶν καὶ ποιήσω σοι.

καὶ εἰσῆλθεν Γὰδ πρὸς Δαυείδ, καὶ ἀνήγγειλεν αὐτῷ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Ἔκλεξαι σεαυτῷ γενέσθαι, εἰ ἔλθῃ σοι τρία ἔτη λιμὸς ἐν τῇ γῇ σου, τρεῖς μῆνας φεύγειν σε ἔμπροσθεν τῶν ἐχθρῶν σου καὶ ἔσονται διώκοντές σε, γενέσθαι τρεῖς ἡμέρας θάνατον ἐν τῇ γῇ σου · νῦν οὖν γνῶθι καὶ ἴδε τί ἀποκριθῶ τῷ ἀποστείλαντί με ῥῆμα.

Cumque venísset Gad ad David, nuntiávit ei, dicens: Aut septem annis véniet tibi fames in terra tua: aut tribus ménsibus fúgies adversários tuos, et illi te persequéntur: aut certe tribus diébus erit pestiléntia in terra tua. Nunc ergo delíbera, et vide quem respóndeam ei, qui me misit, sermónem.

So Gad came to David, and told him, and said unto him, Shall seven years of famine come unto thee in thy land? or wilt thou flee three months before thine enemies, while they pursue thee? or that there be three days pestilence in thy land? now advise, and see what answer I shall return to him that sent me.

וַיֹּ֧אמֶר דָּוִ֛ד אֶל־גָּ֖ד צַר לִ֣־י מְאֹ֑ד נִפְּלָה־נָּ֤א בְיַד־יְהוָה֙ כִּֽי־רַבִּ֣ים רחמו וּבְיַד־אָדָ֖ם אַל־אֶפֹּֽלָה׃

καὶ εἶπεν Δαυεὶδ πρὸς Γάδ Στενά μοι πάντοθεν σφόδρα ἐστίν · ἐμπεσοῦμαι δὴ ἐν χειρὶ Κυρίου, ὅτι πολλοὶ οἱ οἰκτειρμοὶ αὐτοῦ σφόδρα, εἰς δὲ χεῖρας ἀνθρώπου οὐ μὴ ἐμπέσω.

וַיִּתֵּ֨ן יְהוָ֥ה דֶּ֨בֶר֙ בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל מֵהַבֹּ֖קֶר וְעַד־עֵ֣ת מוֹעֵ֑ד וַיָּ֣מָת מִן הָ־עָ֗ם מִדָּן֙ וְעַד־בְּאֵ֣ר שֶׁ֔בַע שִׁבְעִ֥ים אֶ֖לֶף אִֽישׁ׃

καὶ ἐξελέξατο ἑαυτῷ Δαυεὶδ τὸν θάνατον · καὶ ἡμέραι θερισμοῦ πυρῶν, καὶ ἔδωκεν Κύριος ἐν Ἰσραὴλ θάνατον ἀπὸ πρωίθεν ἕως ὥρας ἀρίστου · καὶ ἤρξατο θραῦσις ἐν τῷ λαῷ, καὶ ἀπέθανεν ἐκ τοῦ λαοῦ ἀπὸ Δὰν καὶ ἕως Βηρσάβεε, ἑβδομήκοντα χιλιάδες ἀνδρῶν.

וַיִּשְׁלַח֩ יָד֨וֹ הַמַּלְאָ֥ךְ ׀ יְרֽוּשָׁלִַם֮ לְשַׁחֲתָהּ֒ וַיִּנָּ֤חֶם יְהוָה֙ אֶל הָ֣־רָעָ֔ה וַ֠יֹּאמֶר לַמַּלְאָ֞ךְ הַמַּשְׁחִ֤ית בָּעָם֙ רַ֔ב עַתָּ֖ה הֶ֣רֶף יָדֶ֑ךָ וּמַלְאַ֤ךְ יְהוָה֙ הָיָ֔ה עִם־גֹּ֖רֶן האורנה הַיְבֻסִֽי׃ ס

καὶ ἐξέτεινεν ἄγγελος τοῦ θεοῦ τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ εἰς Ἰερουσαλὴμ τοῦ διαφθεῖραι αὐτήν, καὶ παρεκλήθη Κύριος ἐπὶ τῇ κακίᾳ καὶ εἶπεν τῷ ἀγγέλῳ τῷ διαφθείροντι ἐν τῷ λαῷ Πολὺ νῦν, ἄνες τὴν χεῖρά σου · καὶ ἄγγελος Κυρίου ἦν παρὰ τῷ ἅλῳ Ὀρνὰ τοῦ Ἰεβουσαίου.

Cumque extendísset manum suam ángelus Dómini super Ierúsalem ut dispérderet eam, misértus est Dóminus super afflictióne, et ait ángelo percutiénti pópulum: Súfficit: nunc cóntine manum tuam: erat autem ángelus Dómini iuxta áream Aréuna Iebusǽi.

And when the angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to destroy it, the LORD repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, It is enough: stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD was by the threshingplace of Araunah the Jebusite.

καὶ εἶπεν Δαυεὶδ πρὸς Κύριον, ἐν τῷ ἰδεῖν αὐτὸν τὸν ἄγγελον τύπτοντα ἐν τῷ λαῷ, καὶ εἶπεν Ἰδοὺ ἐγώ εἰμι ἠδίκησα, καὶ οὗτοι τὰ πρόβατα τί ἐποίησαν? γενέσθω δὴ χείρ σου ἐν ἐμοὶ καὶ ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ τοῦ πατρός μου.

Dixítque David ad Dóminum cum vidísset ángelum cædéntem pópulum: Ego sum qui peccávi, ego iníque egi: isti qui oves sunt, quid fecérunt? vertátur, óbsecro, manus tua contra me, et contra domum patris mei.
