וְהִתְנַבִּ֞י חַגַּ֣י נביאה וּזְכַרְיָ֤ה בַר־עִדּוֹא֙ נביאיא עַל יְה֣וּדָיֵ֔־א דִּ֥י בִיה֖וּד וּבִירוּשְׁלֶ֑ם בְּשֻׁ֛ם אֱלָ֥הּ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל עֲלֵיהֽוֹן׃ ס

Καὶ ἐπροφήτευσεν Ἁγγαῖος προφήτης καὶ Ζαχαρίας τοῦ Ἀδὼ προφητείαν ἐπὶ τοὺς Ἰουδαίους τοὺς ἐν Ἰούδᾳ καὶ Ἰερουσαλὴμ ἐν ὀνόματι θεοῦ Ἰσραὴλ ἐπ᾽ αὐτούς.

τότε ἀνέστησαν Ζοροβαβὲλ τοῦ Σαλαθιὴλ καὶ Ἰησοῦς υἱὸς Ἰωσεδὲκ καὶ ἤρξαντο οἰκοδομῆσαι τὸν οἶκον τοῦ θεοῦ τὸν ἐν Ἰερουσαλήμ, καὶ μετ᾽ αὐτῶν οἱ προφῆται τοῦ θεοῦ βοηθοῦντες αὐτοῖς.

בֵּהּ זִמְנָ־א֩ אֲתָ֨א עֲלֵיה֜וֹן תַּ֠תְּנַי פַּחַ֧ת עֲבַֽר נַהֲרָ֛־ה וּשְׁתַ֥ר בּוֹזְנַ֖י וּכְנָוָתְה֑וֹן וְכֵן֙ אָמְרִ֣ין לְהֹ֔ם מַן־שָׂ֨ם לְכֹ֜ם טְעֵ֗ם בַּיְתָ֤א דְנָה֙ לִבְּנֵ֔א וְאֻשַּׁרְנָ֥א דְנָ֖ה לְשַׁכְלָלָֽה׃ ס

ἐν αὐτῷ τῷ καιρῷ ἦλθεν ἐπ᾽ αὐτοὺς Θαναναὶ ἔπαρχος πέραν τοῦ ποταμοῦ καὶ Σαθαρβουζανὰ καὶ οἱ σύνδουλοι αὐτῶν, καὶ τοῖα εἶπαν αὐτοῖς Τίς ἔθηκεν ὑμῖν γνώμην τοῦ οἰκοδομῆσαι τὸν οἶκον καὶ τὴν χορηγίαν ταύτην καταρτίσασθαι;

In ipso autem témpore venit ad eos Thathánai, qui erat dux trans flumen, et Stharbuzánai, et consiliárii eórum: sicque dixérunt eis: Quis dedit vobis consílium ut domum hanc ædificarétis, et muros eius instaurarétis?

אֱדַ֥יִן כְּנֵ֖מָא אֲמַ֣רְנָא לְּהֹ֑ם מַן־אִנּוּן֙ שְׁמָהָ֣ת גֻּבְרַיָּ֔א דִּֽי־דְנָ֥ה בִנְיָנָ֖א בָּנַֽיִן׃

τότε ταῦτα εἴποσαν αὐτοῖς Τίνα ἐστὶν τὰ ὀνόματα τῶν ἀνδρῶν τῶν οἰκοδομούντων τὴν πόλιν ταύτην;

וְעֵ֣ין אֱלָהֲהֹ֗ם הֲוָת֙ עַל־שָׂבֵ֣י יְהוּדָיֵ֔א וְלָא־בַטִּ֣לוּ הִמּ֔וֹ עַד טַעְמָ֖־א לְדָרְיָ֣וֶשׁ יְהָ֑ךְ וֶאֱדַ֛יִן יְתִיב֥וּן נִשְׁתְּוָנָ֖א עַל־דְּנָֽה׃ פ

καὶ οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ τοῦ θεοῦ ἐπὶ τὴν αἰχμάλωσιν Ἰούδα, καὶ οὐ κατήργησαν αὐτοὺς ἕως γνώμη τῷ Δαρείῳ ἀπενέχθη · καὶ τότε ἀπεστάλη τῷ φορολόγῳ ὑπὲρ τοῦ αὐτοῦ.

γνωστὸν ἔστω τῷ βασιλεῖ ὅτι ἐπορεύθημεν εἰς τὴν Ἰουδαίαν χώραν εἰς οἶκον τοῦ θεοῦ τοῦ μεγάλου, καὶ αὐτὸς οἰκοδομεῖται λίθοις ἐκλεκτοῖς, καὶ ξύλα ἐντίθεται ἐν τοῖς τοίχοις, καὶ τὸ ἔργον ἐκεῖνο ἐπιδέξιον γίνεται καὶ εὐοδοῦται ἐν ταῖς χερσὶν αὐτῶν.

Notum sit regi, isse nos ad Iudǽam provínciam, ad domum Dei magni, quæ ædificátur lápide impolíto, et ligna ponúntur in pariétibus: opúsque illud diligénter exstrúitur, et crescit in mánibus eórum.

אֱדַ֗יִן שְׁאֵ֨לְנָא֙ לְשָׂבַיָּ֣א אִלֵּ֔ךְ כְּנֵ֖מָא אֲמַ֣רְנָא לְּהֹ֑ם מַן־שָׂ֨ם לְכֹ֜ם טְעֵ֗ם בַּיְתָ֤א דְנָה֙ לְמִבְנְיָ֔ה וְאֻשַּׁרְנָ֥א דְנָ֖ה לְשַׁכְלָלָֽה׃

וְאַ֧ף שְׁמָהָתְהֹ֛ם שְׁאֵ֥לְנָא לְּהֹ֖ם לְהוֹדָעוּתָ֑ךְ דִּ֛י נִכְתֻּ֥ב שֻׁם גֻּבְרַיָּ֖־א דִּ֥י בְרָאשֵׁיהֹֽם׃ ס

καὶ τὰ ὀνόματα αὐτῶν ἠρωτήσαμεν αὐτοὺς γνωρίσαι σοι, ὥστε γράψαι τὰ ὀνόματα τῶν ἀνδρῶν τῶν ἀρχόντων αὐτῶν.

וּכְנֵ֥מָא פִתְגָמָ֖א הֲתִיב֣וּנָא לְמֵמַ֑ר אֲנַ֣חְנָא הִמּ֡וֹ עַבְדוֹהִי֩ דִֽי־אֱלָ֨הּ שְׁמַיָּ֜א וְאַרְעָ֗א וּבָנַ֤יִן בַּיְתָא֙ דִּֽי־הֲוָ֨א בְנֵ֜ה מִקַּדְמַ֤ת דְּנָה֙ שְׁנִ֣ין שַׂגִּיאָ֔ן וּמֶ֤לֶךְ לְיִשְׂרָאֵל֙ רַ֔ב בְּנָ֖הִי וְשַׁכְלְלֵֽהּ׃

καὶ τοῦτο τὸ ῥῆμα ἀπεκρίθησαν ἡμῖν λέγοντες Ἡμεῖς ἐσμεν δοῦλοι τοῦ θεοῦ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ τῆς γῆς, καὶ οἰκοδομοῦμεν τὸν οἶκον ὃς ἦν οἰκοδομημένος πρὸ τούτου ἔτη πολλά, καὶ βασιλεύς τοῦ Ἰσραὴλ μέγας ᾠκοδόμησεν αὐτὸν καὶ κατηρτίσατο αὐτὸν αὐτοῖς.

לָהֵ֗ן מִן־דִּ֨י הַרְגִּ֤זוּ אֲבָהֳתַ֨נָא֙ לֶאֱלָ֣הּ שְׁמַיָּ֔א יְהַ֣ב הִמּ֔וֹ בְּיַ֛ד נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּ֥ר מֶֽלֶךְ־בָּבֶ֖ל כסדיא וּבַיְתָ֤ה דְנָה֙ סַתְרֵ֔הּ וְעַמָּ֖ה הַגְלִ֥י לְבָבֶֽל׃ ס

ἀφ᾽ ὅτε δὲ παρώργισαν οἱ πατέρες ἡμῶν τὸν θεὸν τοῦ οὐρανοῦ, ἔδωκεν αὐτοὺς εἰς χεῖρας Ναβουχοδονοσὸρ βασιλέως Βαβυλῶνος, τὸν οἶκον ἔλυσεν τοῦτον, καὶ τὸν λαὸν ἀπῴκισεν εἰς Βαβυλῶνα.

Postquam autem ad iracúndiam provocavérunt patres nostri Deum cæli, trádidit eos in manus Nabuchodónosor regis Babylónis Chaldǽi, domum quoque hanc destrúxit, et pópulum eius tránstulit in Babylónem.

But after that our fathers had provoked the God of heaven unto wrath, he gave them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, the Chaldean, who destroyed this house, and carried the people away into Babylon.

בְּרַם֙ בִּשְׁנַ֣ת חֲדָ֔ה לְכ֥וֹרֶשׁ מַלְכָּ֖א דִּ֣י בָבֶ֑ל כּ֤וֹרֶשׁ מַלְכָּא֙ שָׂ֣ם טְעֵ֔ם בֵּית אֱלָהָ֥־א דְנָ֖ה לִבְּנֵֽא׃

καὶ τὰ σκεύη τοῦ θεοῦ τά ἀργυρᾶ καὶ τὰ χρυσᾶ, Ναβουχοδονοσὸρ ἐξήνεγκεν ἀπὸ οἴκου τοῦ ἐν Ἰερουσαὴμ καὶ ἀπήνεγκεν αὐτὰ εἰς ναὸν τοῦ βασιλέως, καὶ ἔδωκεν τῷ Βαγασὰρ τῷ θησαυροφύλακι τῷ ἐπὶ τοῦ θησαυροῦ,

Nam et vasa templi Dei áurea et argéntea, quæ Nabuchodónosor túlerat de templo, quod erat in Ierúsalem, et asportáverat ea in templum Babylónis, prótulit Cyrus rex de templo Babylónis, et data sunt Sassabásar vocábulo, quem et príncipem constítuit,

And the vessels also of gold and silver of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar took out of the temple that [was] in Jerusalem, and brought them into the temple of Babylon, those did Cyrus the king take out of the temple of Babylon, and they were delivered unto [one], whose name [was] Sheshbazzar, whom he had made governor;

וַאֲמַר לֵ֓־הּ ׀ אלה מָֽאנַיָּ֔א שֵׂ֚א אֵֽזֶל־אֲחֵ֣ת הִמּ֔וֹ בְּהֵיכְלָ֖א דִּ֣י בִירוּשְׁלֶ֑ם וּבֵ֥ית אֱלָהָ֖א יִתְבְּנֵ֥א עַל אַתְרֵֽ־הּ׃ ס

καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Πάντα τὰ σκεύη λάβε · πορεύου, θὲς αὐτὰ ἐν οἴκῳ τῷ ἐν Ἰερουσαλὴμ εἰς τὸν ἑαυτῶν τόπον.

אֱדַ֨יִן֙ שֵׁשְׁבַּצַּ֣ר דֵּ֔ךְ אֲתָ֗א יְהַ֧ב אֻשַּׁיָּ֛א דִּי־בֵ֥ית אֱלָהָ֖א דִּ֣י בִירוּשְׁלֶ֑ם וּמִן־אֱדַ֧יִן וְעַד־כְּעַ֛ן מִתְבְּנֵ֖א וְלָ֥א שְׁלִֽם׃

τότε Σαρβαγὰρ ἐκεῖνος ἦλθεν καὶ ἔδωκεν θεμελίους τοῦ οἴκου τοῦ θεοῦ τοῦ εἰς Ἰερουσαλήμ · καὶ ἀπὸ τότε ἕως τοῦ νῦν ᾠκοδομήθη, οὐκ ἐτελέσθη.

καὶ νῦν εἰ ἐπὶ τὸν βασιλέα ἀγαθόν, ἐπισκεπήτω ἐν οἴκῳ τῆς γάζης τοῦ βασιλέως Βαβυλῶνος, ὅπως γνῷς ὅτι ἀπὸ βασιλέως κύρου ἐγένετο γνώμη οἰκοδομῆσαι τὸν οἶκον τοῦ θεοῦ ἐκεῖνον τὸν ἐν Ἰερουσαλήμ · καὶ γνοὺς βασιλεὺς περὶ τούτου πεμψάτω πρὸς ἡμᾶς.

Nunc ergo si vidétur regi bonum, recénseat in bibliothéca regis, quæ est in Babylóne, utrúmnam a Cyro rege iussum fúerit ut ædificarétur domus Dei in Ierúsalem, et voluntátem regis super hac re mittat ad nos.

Now therefore, if [it seem] good to the king, let there be search made in the king ’s treasure house, which [is] there at Babylon, whether it be [so], that a decree was made of Cyrus the king to build this house of God at Jerusalem, and let the king send his pleasure to us concerning this matter.
