אַחַ֣ר ׀ הַדְּבָרִ֣ים הָאֵ֗לֶּה הָיָ֤ה דְבַר־יְהוָה֙ אֶל־אַבְרָ֔ם בַּֽמַּחֲזֶ֖ה לֵאמֹ֑ר אַל־תִּירָ֣א אַבְרָ֗ם אָנֹכִי֙ מָגֵ֣ן לָ֔ךְ שְׂכָרְךָ֖ הַרְבֵּ֥ה מְאֹֽד׃

Μετὰ δὲ τὰ ῥήματα ταῦτα ἐγενήθη ῥῆμα Κυρίου πρὸς Ἀβρὰμ ἐν ὁράματι λέγων Μὴ φοβοῦ, Ἀβράμ · ἐγὼ ὑπερασπίζω σου · ὁ μισθός σου πολὺς ἔσται σφόδρα.

His ítaque transáctis, factus est sermo Dómini ad Abram per visiónem dicens: Noli timére Abram: ego protéctor tuus sum, et merces tua magna nimis.

אחר הדברים האלה היה דבר־יהוה אל־אברם במחזה לאמר אל־תירא אברם אנכי מגן לך ושׂכרך ארבה מאד

After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I [am] thy shield, [and] thy exceeding great reward.

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אַבְרָ֗ם אֲדֹנָ֤י יֱהוִה֙ מַה־תִּתֶּן לִ֔־י וְאָנֹכִ֖י הוֹלֵ֣ךְ עֲרִירִ֑י וּבֶן־מֶ֣שֶׁק בֵּיתִ֔י ה֖וּא דַּמֶּ֥שֶׂק אֱלִיעֶֽזֶר׃

λέγει δὲ Ἀβράμ Δέσποτα Κύριε, τί μοι δώσεις? ἐγὼ δὲ ἀπολύομαι ἄτεκνος · ὁ δὲ υἱὸς Μάσεκ τῆς οἰκογενοῦς μου, οὗτος Δαμασκὸς Ἐλιέζερ.

Dixítque Abram: Dómine Deus, quid dabis mihi? ego vadam absque líberis, et fílius procuratóris domus meæ iste Damáscus Eliézer.

ויאמר אברם אדני יהוה מה־תתן לי ואנכי הלך עררי ובן־משׁק ביתי הוא דמשׂק אליעזר
2
And Abram said, Lord GOD, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house [is] this Eliezer of Damascus?

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אַבְרָ֔ם הֵ֣ן לִ֔י לֹ֥א נָתַ֖תָּה זָ֑רַע וְהִנֵּ֥ה בֶן בֵּיתִ֖־י יוֹרֵ֥שׁ אֹתִֽי׃

καὶ εἶπεν Ἀβράμ Ἐπειδὴ ἐμοὶ οὐκ ἔδωκας σπέρμα, ὁ δὲ οἰκογενής μου κληρονομήσει με.

Addidítque Abram: Mihi autem non dedísti semen, et ecce vernáculus meus, heres meus erit.

ויאמר אברם הן לי לא נתתה זרע והנה בן ביתי יירשׁ אתי
3
And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir.

וְהִנֵּ֨ה דְבַר־יְהוָ֤ה אֵלָיו֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר לֹ֥א יִֽירָשְׁךָ֖ זֶ֑ה כִּי־אִם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר יֵצֵ֣א מִמֵּעֶ֔יךָ ה֖וּא יִֽירָשֶֽׁךָ׃
4
καὶ εὐθὺς φωνὴ Κυρίου ἐγένετο πρὸς αὐτὸν λέγων Οὐ κληρονομήσει σε οὗτος · ἀλλ᾽ ὅς ἐξελεύσεται ἐκ σοῦ, οὗτος κληρονομήσει σε.

Statímque sermo Dómini factus est ad eum, dicens: Non erit hic heres tuus, sed qui egrediétur de útero tuo, ipsum habébis herédem.

והנה דבר־יהוה אליו לאמר לא יירשׁך זה כי־אם אשׁר יצא ממעיך הוא יירשׁך
4
And, behold, the word of the LORD [came] unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir.

וַיּוֹצֵ֨א אֹת֜וֹ הַח֗וּצָה וַיֹּ֨אמֶר֙ הַבֶּט־נָ֣א הַשָּׁמַ֗יְמָה וּסְפֹר֙ הַכּ֣וֹכָבִ֔ים אִם־תּוּכַ֖ל לִסְפֹּ֣ר אֹתָ֑ם וַיֹּ֣אמֶר ל֔וֹ כֹּ֥ה יִהְיֶ֖ה זַרְעֶֽךָ׃

ἐξήγαγεν δὲ αὐτὸν ἔξω καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτὸν Ἀνάβλεψον δὴ εἰς τὸν οὐρανὸν καὶ ἀρίθμησον τοὺς ἀστέρας, εἰ δύνῃ ἐξαριθμῆσαι αὐτούς. καὶ εἶπεν Οὕτως ἔσται τὸ σπέρμα σου.

Eduxítque eum foras, et ait illi: Súspice cælum, et númera stellas, si potes. Et dixit ei: Sic erit semen tuum.

ויוצא אתו החוצה ויאמר הבט־נא השׁמים וספר הכוכבים אם־תוכל לספר אתם ויאמר לו כה יהיה זרעך
5
And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.

וְהֶאֱמִ֖ן בַּֽיהוָ֑ה וַיַּחְשְׁבֶ֥הָ לּ֖וֹ צְדָקָֽה׃

καὶ ἐπίστευσεν Ἀβράμ τῷ θεῷ, καὶ ἐλογίσθη αὐτῷ εἰς δικαιοσύνην.

Crédidit Abram Deo, et reputátum est illi ad iustítiam.

והאמן ביהוה ויחשׁבה לו צדקה

And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.

וַיֹּ֖אמֶר אֵלָ֑יו אֲנִ֣י יְהוָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֤ר הוֹצֵאתִ֨יךָ֙ מֵא֣וּר כַּשְׂדִּ֔ים לָ֧תֶת לְךָ֛ אֶת הָ־אָ֥רֶץ הַזֹּ֖את לְרִשְׁתָּֽהּ׃
7
εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ Ἐγὼ ὁ θεὸς ὁ ἐξαγαγών σε ἐκ χώρας Χαλδαίων, ὥστε δοῦναί σοι τὴν γῆν ταύτην κληρονομῆσαι.

Dixítque ad eum: Ego Dóminus qui edúxi te de Ur Chaldæórum ut darem tibi terram istam, et possidéres eam.

ויאמר אליו אני יהוה אשׁר הוצאתיך מאור כשׂדים לתת לך את הארץ הזאת לרשׁתה

And he said unto him, I [am] the LORD that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it.

וַיֹּאמַ֑ר אֲדֹנָ֣י יֱהוִ֔ה בַּמָּ֥ה אֵדַ֖ע כִּ֥י אִֽירָשֶֽׁנָּה׃

εἶπεν δέ Δέσποτα Κύριε, κατὰ τί γνώσομαι ὅτι κληρονομήσω αὐτήν?

At ille ait: Dómine Deus, unde scire possum quod possessúrus sim eam?

ויאמר אדני יהוה במה אדע כי איירשׁנה
8
And he said, Lord GOD, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it?

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלָ֗יו קְחָ֥ה לִי֙ עֶגְלָ֣ה מְשֻׁלֶּ֔שֶׁת וְעֵ֥ז מְשֻׁלֶּ֖שֶׁת וְאַ֣יִל מְשֻׁלָּ֑שׁ וְתֹ֖ר וְגוֹזָֽל׃
9
εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ Λάβε μοι δάμαλιν τριετίζουσαν καὶ αἶγα τριετίζουσαν καὶ κριὸν τριετίζοντα καὶ τρυγόνα καὶ περιστεράν.

Et respóndens Dóminus: Sume, inquit, mihi vaccam triénnem, et capram trimam, et aríetem annórum trium, túrturem quoque, et colúmbam.

ויאמר אליו קח לי עגלה משׁלשׁת ועז משׁלשׁת ואיל משׁלשׁ ותר וגוזל
9
And he said unto him, Take me an heifer of three years old, and a she goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon.

וַיִּֽקַּֽח ל֣־וֹ אֶת־כָּל־אֵ֗לֶּה וַיְבַתֵּ֤ר אֹתָם֙ בַּתָּ֔וֶךְ וַיִּתֵּ֥ן אִישׁ בִּתְר֖־וֹ לִקְרַ֣את רֵעֵ֑הוּ וְאֶת הַ־צִפֹּ֖ר לֹ֥א בָתָֽר׃
10
ἔλαβεν δὲ αὐτῷ πάντα ταῦτα, καὶ διεῖλεν αὐτὰ μέσα, καὶ ἔθηκεν αὐτὰ ἀντιπρόσωπα ἀλλήλοις · τὰ δὲ ὄρνεα οὐ διεῖλεν.

Qui tollens univérsa hæc, divísit ea per médium, et utrásque partes contra se altrínsecus pósuit: aves autem non divísit.

ויקח לו את־כל־אלה ויבתר אתם בתור ויתן אישׁ את בתרו לקראת רעהו ואת הצפורים לא בתר

And he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each piece one against another: but the birds divided he not.

וַיֵּ֥רֶד הָעַ֖יִט עַל הַ־פְּגָרִ֑ים וַיַּשֵּׁ֥ב אֹתָ֖ם אַבְרָֽם׃

κατέβη δὲ ὄρνεα ἐπὶ τὰ σώματα, τὰ διχοτομήματα αὐτῶν · καὶ συνεκάθισεν αὐτοῖς Ἀβράμ.

Descenderúntque vólucres super cadávera, et abigébat eas Abram.

וירד העיט על הפגרים וישׁב אתם אברם

And when the fowls came down upon the carcases, Abram drove them away.

וַיְהִ֤י הַשֶּׁ֨מֶשׁ֙ לָב֔וֹא וְתַרְדֵּמָ֖ה נָפְלָ֣ה עַל־אַבְרָ֑ם וְהִנֵּ֥ה אֵימָ֛ה חֲשֵׁכָ֥ה גְדֹלָ֖ה נֹפֶ֥לֶת עָלָֽיו׃
12
περὶ δὲ ἡλίου δυσμὰς ἔκστασις ἐπέπεσεν τῷ Ἀβράμ, καὶ ἰδοὺ φόβος σκοτινὸς μέγας ἐπιπίπτει αὐτῷ ·
12
Cumque sol occúmberet, sopor írruit super Abram, et horror magnus et tenebrósus invásit eum.

ויהי השׁמשׁ לבוא ותרדמה נפלה על־אברם והנה אימה חשׁכה גדלה נפלת עליו
12
And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him.

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לְאַבְרָ֗ם יָדֹ֨עַ תֵּדַ֜ע כִּי־גֵ֣ר ׀ יִהְיֶ֣ה זַרְעֲךָ֗ בְּאֶ֨רֶץ֙ לֹ֣א לָהֶ֔ם וַעֲבָד֖וּם וְעִנּ֣וּ אֹתָ֑ם אַרְבַּ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָֽה׃
13
καὶ ἐρρέθη πρὸς Ἀβράμ Γινώσκων γνώσῃ ὅτι πάροικον ἔσται τὸ σπέρμα σου ἐν γῇ οὐκ ἰδίᾳ, καὶ κακώσουσιν αὐτὸ καὶ δουλώσουσιν αὐτοὺς καὶ ταπεινώσουσιν αὐτοὺς τετρακόσια ἔτη.

Dictúmque est ad eum: Scito prænóscens quod peregrínum futúrum sit semen tuum in terra non sua, et subícient eos servitúti, et afflígent quadringéntis annis.

ויאמר לאברם ידע תדע כי־גר יהיה זרעך בארץ לא להם ועבדום וענו אתם ארבע מאות שׁנה
13
And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land [that is] not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;

וְגַ֧ם אֶת הַ־גּ֛וֹי אֲשֶׁ֥ר יַעֲבֹ֖דוּ דָּ֣ן אָנֹ֑כִי וְאַחֲרֵי־כֵ֥ן יֵצְא֖וּ בִּרְכֻ֥שׁ גָּדֽוֹל׃
14
τὸ δὲ ἔθνος ᾧ ἐὰν δουλεύσωσιν κρινῶ ἐγώ · μετὰ δὲ ταῦτα ἐξελεύσονται ὧδε μετὰ ἀποσκευῆς πολλῆς.

Verúmtamen gentem, cui servitúri sunt, ego iudicábo: et post hæc egrediéntur cum magna substántia.

וגם את הגוי אשׁר יעבדו דן אנכי ואחרי־כן יצאו ברכושׁ גדול
14
And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.

וְאַתָּ֛ה תָּב֥וֹא אֶל אֲבֹתֶ֖י־ךָ בְּשָׁל֑וֹם תִּקָּבֵ֖ר בְּשֵׂיבָ֥ה טוֹבָֽה׃

σὺ δὲ ἀπελεύσῃ πρὸς τοὺς πατέρας σου μετ᾽ εἰρήνης, τραφεὶς ἐν γήρει καλῷ.

Tu autem ibis ad patres tuos in pace, sepúltus in senectúte bona.

ואתה תבוא אל אבתיך בשׁלום תקבר בשׂיבה טובה
15
And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age.

וְד֥וֹר רְבִיעִ֖י יָשׁ֣וּבוּ הֵ֑נָּה כִּ֧י לֹא־שָׁלֵ֛ם עֲוֺ֥ן הָאֱמֹרִ֖י עַד־הֵֽנָּה׃

τετάρτῃ δὲ γενεᾷ ἀποστραφήσονται ὧδε · οὔπω γὰρ ἀναπεπλήρωνται αἱ ἁμαρτίαι τῶν Ἀμορραίων ἕως τοῦ νῦν.

Generatióne autem quarta reverténtur huc: necdum enim complétæ sunt iniquitátes Amorrhæórum usque ad præsens tempus.

ודור הרביעי ישׁוב הנה כי לא־שׁלם עון האמרי עד־הנה
16
But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites [is] not yet full.

וַיְהִ֤י הַשֶּׁ֨מֶשׁ֙ בָּ֔אָה וַעֲלָטָ֖ה הָיָ֑ה וְהִנֵּ֨ה תַנּ֤וּר עָשָׁן֙ וְלַפִּ֣יד אֵ֔שׁ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָבַ֔ר בֵּ֖ין הַגְּזָרִ֥ים הָאֵֽלֶּה׃
17
ἐπεὶ δὲ ἐγίνετο ὁ ἥλιος πρὸς δυσμαῖς, φλὸξ ἐγένετο · καὶ ἰδοὺ κλίβανος καπνιζόμενος καὶ λαμπάδες πυρός, αἳ διῆλθον ἀνὰ μέσον τῶν διχοτομημάτων τούτων.

Cum ergo occubuísset sol, facta est calígo tenebrósa, et appáruit clíbanus fumans, et lampas ignis tránsiens inter divisiónes illas.

ויהי השׁמשׁ באה ועלטה היה והנה תנור עשׁן ולפיד אשׁ אשׁר עבר בין הגזרים האלה

And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces.

בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֗וּא כָּרַ֧ת יְהוָ֛ה אֶת־אַבְרָ֖ם בְּרִ֣ית לֵאמֹ֑ר לְזַרְעֲךָ֗ נָתַ֨תִּי֙ אֶת הָ־אָ֣רֶץ הַזֹּ֔את מִנְּהַ֣ר מִצְרַ֔יִם עַד הַ־נָּהָ֥ר הַגָּדֹ֖ל נְהַר־פְּרָֽת׃

ἐκεῖ διέθετο ὁ θεὸς τῷ Ἀβράμ διαθήκην λέγων Τῷ σπέρματί σου δώσω τὴν γῆν ταύτην, ἀπὸ τοῦ ποταμοῦ Αἰγύπτου ἕως τοῦ ποταμοῦ τοῦ μεγάλου Εὐφράτου ·

In illo die pépigit Dóminus fœdus cum Abram, dicens: Sémini tuo dabo terram hanc a flúvio Ægýpti usque ad flúvium magnum Euphráten,

ביום ההוא כרת יהוה את־אברם ברית לאמר לזרעך נתתי את הארץ הזאת מנהר מצרים עד הנהר הגדול נהר־פרת

In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:

אֶת הַ־קֵּינִי֙ וְאֶת הַ־קְּנִזִּ֔י וְאֵ֖ת הַקַּדְמֹנִֽי׃

τοὺς Κεναίους καὶ τοὺς Κενεζαίους καὶ τοὺς Κελμωναίους

Cinǽos, et Cenezǽos, Cedmonǽos,

et Hethǽos, et Pherezǽos, Ráphaim quoque,

ואת החתי ואת הפרזי ואת הרפאים

And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims,

וְאֶת הָֽ־אֱמֹרִי֙ וְאֶת הַֽ־כְּנַעֲנִ֔י וְאֶת הַ־גִּרְגָּשִׁ֖י וְאֶת הַ־יְבוּסִֽי׃ ס

καὶ τοὺς Ἀμορραίους καὶ τοὺς Χαναναίους καὶ τοὺς Εὑαίους καὶ τοὺς Γεργεσαίους καὶ τοὺς Ἰεβουσαίους.

et Amorrhǽos, et Chananǽos, et Gergesǽos, et Iebusǽos.

ואת האמרי ואת הכנעני ואת הגרגשׁי ואת החוי ואת היבוסי

And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.
