וַיְכֻלּ֛וּ הַשָּׁמַ֥יִם וְהָאָ֖רֶץ וְכָל צְבָאָֽ־ם׃
1
Καὶ συνετελέσθησαν ὁ οὐρανὸς καὶ ἡ γῆ καὶ πᾶς ὁ κόσμος αὐτῶν.

Igitur perfécti sunt cæli et terra, et omnis ornátus eórum.

Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.

καὶ συνετέλεσεν ὁ θεὸς ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ἕκτῃ τὰ ἔργα αὐτοῦ ἃ ἐποίησεν · καὶ κατέπαυσεν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ἑβδόμῃ ἀπὸ πάντων τῶν ἔργων αὐτοῦ ὧν ἐποίησεν.

Complevítque Deus die séptimo opus suum quod fécerat: et requiévit die séptimo ab univérso ópere quod patrárat.

ויכל אלהים ביום השׁשׁי מלאכתו אשׁר עשׂה וישׁבת ביום השׁביעי מכל מלאכתו אשׁר עשׂה

And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

καὶ ηὐλόγησεν ὁ θεὸς τὴν ἡμέραν τὴν ἑβδόμην καὶ ἡγίασεν αὐτήν, ὅτι ἐν αὐτῇ κατέπαυσεν ἀπὸ πάντων τῶν ἔργων αὐτοῦ ὧν ἤρξατο ὁ θεὸς ποιῆσαι.

Et benedíxit diéi séptimo, et sanctificávit illum, quia in ipso cessáverat ab omni ópere suo quod creávit Deus ut fáceret.

ויברך אלהים את־יום השׁביעי ויקדשׁ אתו כי בו שׁבת מכל מלאכתו אשׁר־ברא אלהים לעשׂות

And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Αὕτη ἡ βίβλος γενέσεως οὐρανοῦ καὶ γῆς, ὅτε ἐγένετο · ᾗ ἡμέρᾳ ἐποίησεν Κύριος ὁ θεὸς τὸν οὐρανὸν καὶ τὴν γῆν,

Istæ sunt generatiónes cæli et terræ, quando creáta sunt, in die quo fecit Dóminus Deus cælum et terram:

אלה תולדת השׁמים והארץ בהבראם ביום עשׂות יהוה אלהים שׁמים וארץ

These [are] the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,

וְכֹ֣ל ׀ שִׂ֣יחַ הַשָּׂדֶ֗ה טֶ֚רֶם יִֽהְיֶ֣ה בָאָ֔רֶץ וְכָל־עֵ֥שֶׂב הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה טֶ֣רֶם יִצְמָ֑ח כִּי֩ לֹ֨א הִמְטִ֜יר יְהוָ֤ה אֱלֹהִים֙ עַל הָ־אָ֔רֶץ וְאָדָ֣ם אַ֔יִן לַֽעֲבֹ֖ד אֶת הָֽ־אֲדָמָֽה׃

καὶ πᾶν χλωρὸν ἀγροῦ πρὸ τοῦ γενέσθαι ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, καὶ πάντα χόρτον ἀγροῦ πρὸ τοῦ ἀνατεῖλαι. οὐ γὰρ ἔβρεξεν ὁ θεὸς ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν, καὶ ἄνθρωπος οὐκ ἦν ἐργάζεσθαι τὴν γῆν ·

et omne virgúltum agri ántequam orirétur in terra, omnémque herbam regiónis priúsquam germináret: non enim plúerat Dóminus Deus super terram, et homo non erat qui operarétur terram:

וכל שׂיח השׂדה טרם יהיה בארץ וכל־עשׂב השׂדה טרם יצמח כי לא המטיר יהוה אלהים על הארץ ואדם אין לעבד את האדמה
5
And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and [there was] not a man to till the ground.

וְאֵ֖ד יַֽעֲלֶ֣ה מִן הָ־אָ֑רֶץ וְהִשְׁקָ֖ה אֶֽת־כָּל־פְּנֵֽי הָֽ־אֲדָמָֽה׃

πηγὴ δὲ ἀνέβαινεν ἐκ τῆς γῆς καὶ ἐπότιζεν πᾶν τὸ πρόσωπον τῆς γῆς.

But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.

καὶ ἔπλασεν ὁ θεὸς τὸν ἄνθρωπον χοῦν ἀπὸ τῆς γῆς · καὶ ἐνεφύσησεν εἰς τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ πνοὴν ζωῆς, καὶ ἐγένετο ὁ ἄνθρωπος εἰς ψυχὴν ζῶσαν.

Formávit ígitur Dóminus Deus hóminem de limo terræ, et inspirávit in fáciem eius spiráculum vitæ, et factus est homo in ánimam vivéntem.

ויצר יהוה אלהים את האדם עפר מן האדמה ויפח באפיו נשׁמת חיים ויהי אדם לנפשׁ חיה

And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Καὶ ἐφύτευσεν Κύριος ὁ θεὸς παράδεισον ἐν Ἔδεμ κατὰ ἀνατολάς, καὶ ἔθετο ἐκεῖ τὸν ἄνθρωπον ὃν ἔπλασεν.

And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

וַיַּצְמַ֞ח יְהוָ֤ה אֱלֹהִים֙ מִן הָ֣־אֲדָמָ֔ה כָּל־עֵ֛ץ נֶחְמָ֥ד לְמַרְאֶ֖ה וְט֣וֹב לְמַאֲכָ֑ל וְעֵ֤ץ הַֽחַיִּים֙ בְּת֣וֹךְ הַגָּ֔ן וְעֵ֕ץ הַדַּ֖עַת ט֥וֹב וָרָֽע׃

καὶ ἐξανέτειλεν ὁ θεὸς ἔτι ἐκ τῆς γῆς πᾶν ξύλον ὡραῖον εἰς ὅρασιν καὶ καλὸν εἰς βρῶσιν · καὶ τὸ ξύλον τῆς ζωῆς ἐν μέσῳ τῷ παραδείσῳ, καὶ τὸ ξύλον τοῦ εἰδέναι γνωστὸν καλοῦ καὶ πονηροῦ.

Produxítque Dóminus Deus de humo omne lignum pulchrum visu, et ad vescéndum suáve: lignum étiam vitæ in médio paradísi, lignúmque sciéntiæ boni et mali.

ויצמח יהוה אלהים מן האדמה את כל־עץ נחמד למראה וטוב למאכל ועץ החיים בתוך הגן ועץ הדעת טוב ורע
9
And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

וְנָהָרּ֙ יֹצֵ֣א מֵעֵ֔דֶן לְהַשְׁק֖וֹת אֶת הַ־גָּ֑ן וּמִשָּׁם֙ יִפָּרֵ֔ד וְהָיָ֖ה לְאַרְבָּעָ֥ה רָאשִֽׁים׃

ποταμὸς δὲ ἐκπορεύεται ἐξ Ἔδεμ ποτίζειν τὸν παράδεισον · ἐκεῖθεν ἀφορίζεται εἰς τέσσαρας ἀρχάς.

Et flúvius egrediebátur de loco voluptátis ad irrigándum paradísum, qui inde divíditur in quátuor cápita.

ונהר יצא מעדן להשׁקות את הגן ומשׁם יפרד והיה לארבעה ראשׁים

And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.

שֵׁ֥ם הָֽאֶחָ֖ד פִּישׁ֑וֹן ה֣וּא הַסֹּבֵ֗ב אֵ֚ת כָּל־אֶ֣רֶץ הַֽחֲוִילָ֔ה אֲשֶׁר־שָׁ֖ם הַזָּהָֽב׃

ὄνομα τῷ ἑνὶ Φεισών · οὗτος ὁ κυκλῶν πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν Εὑειλάτ, ἐκεῖ οὗ ἐστιν τὸ χρυσίον ·

Nomen uni Phison: ipse est qui círcuit omnem terram Hévilath, ubi náscitur aurum:

שׁם האחד פישׁון הוא הסובב את כל־ארץ החוילה אשׁר־שׁם הזהב

The name of the first [is] Pison: that [is] it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where [there is] gold;

וּֽזֲהַ֛ב הָאָ֥רֶץ הַהִ֖וא ט֑וֹב שָׁ֥ם הַבְּדֹ֖לַח וְאֶ֥בֶן הַשֹּֽׁהַם׃

τὸ δὲ χρυσίον τῆς γῆς ἐκείνης καλόν · καὶ ἐκεῖ ἐστιν ὁ ἄνθραξ καὶ ὁ λίθος ὁ πράσινος.

et aurum terræ illíus óptimum est: ibi invenítur bdéllium, et lapis onýchinus.

וזהב הארץ ההיא טוב מאד שׁם הבדלח ואבן השׁהם

And the gold of that land [is] good: there [is] bdellium and the onyx stone.

καὶ ὄνομα τῷ ποταμῷ τῷ δευτέρῳ Γηών · οὗτος ὁ κυκλῶν πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν Αἰθιοπίας.

καὶ ὁ ποταμὸς ὁ τρίτος Τίγρις · οὗτος ὁ πορευόμενος κατέναντι Ἀσσυρίων. ὁ δὲ ποταμὸς ὁ τέταρτος, οὗτος Εὐφράτης.

Nomen vero flúminis tértii, Tigris: ipse vadit contra Assýrios. Flúvius autem quartus, ipse est Euphrátes.

And the name of the third river [is] Hiddekel: that [is] it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river [is] Euphrates.

And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

ἀπὸ δὲ τοῦ ξύλου τοῦ γινώσκειν καλὸν καὶ πονηρόν, οὐ φάγεσθε ἀπ᾽ αὐτοῦ · ᾗ δ᾽ ἂν ἡμέρᾳ φάγησθε ἀπ᾽ αὐτοῦ, θανάτῳ ἀποθανεῖσθε.

de ligno autem sciéntiæ boni et mali ne cómedas: in quocúmque enim die coméderis ex eo, morte moriéris.

ומעץ הדעת טוב ורע לא תאכל ממנו כי ביום אכלך ממנו מות תמות

But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Καὶ εἶπεν Κύριος ὁ θεός Οὐ καλὸν εἶναι τὸν ἄνθρωπον μόνον · ποιήσωμεν αὐτῷ βοηθὸν κατ᾽ αὐτόν.

Dixit quoque Dóminus Deus: Non est bonum esse hóminem solum: faciámus ei adiutórium símile sibi.

ויאמר יהוה אלהים לא־טוב היות האדם לבדו אעשׂה לו עזר כנגדו
18
And the LORD God said, [It is] not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

καὶ ἔπλασεν ὁ θεὸς ἔτι ἐκ τῆς γῆς πάντα τὰ θηρία τοῦ ἀγροῦ καὶ πάντα τὰ πετεινὰ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ, καὶ ἤγαγεν αὐτὰ πρὸς τὸν Ἀδὰμ ἰδεῖν τί καλέσει αὐτά · καὶ πᾶν ὃ ἐὰν ἐκάλεσεν αὐτὸ Ἀδὰμ ψυχὴν ζῶσαν, τοῦτο ὄνομα αὐτοῦ.

Formátis ígitur Dóminus Deus de humo cunctis animántibus terræ, et univérsis volatílibus cæli, addúxit ea ad Adam, ut vidéret quid vocáret ea: omne enim quod vocávit Adam ánimæ vivéntis, ipsum est nomen eius.

ויצר יהוה אלהים עוד מן האדמה את כל־חית השׂדה ואת כל־עוף השׁמים ויבא אל האדם לראות מה־יקרא לו וכל אשׁר יקרא לו האדם נפשׁ חיה הוא שׁמו

And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought [them] unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that [was] the name thereof.

וַיִּקְרָ֨א הָֽאָדָ֜ם שֵׁמ֗וֹת לְכָל הַ־בְּהֵמָה֙ וּלְע֣וֹף הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וּלְכֹ֖ל חַיַּ֣ת הַשָּׂדֶ֑ה וּלְאָדָ֕ם לֹֽא־מָצָ֥א עֵ֖זֶר כְּנֶגְדּֽוֹ׃

καὶ ἐκάλεσεν Ἀδὰμ ὀνόματα πᾶσιν τοῖς κτήνεσιν καὶ πᾶσι τοῖς πετεινοῖς τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ πᾶσι τοῖς θηρίοις τοῦ ἀγροῦ · τῷ τε Ἀδὰμ οὐχ εὑρέθη βοηθὸς ὅμοιος αὐτῷ.

Appellavítque Adam nomínibus suis cuncta animántia, et univérsa volatília cæli, et omnes béstias terræ: Adæ vero non inveniebátur adiútor símilis eius.

ויקרא האדם שׁמות לכל הבהמה ולעוף השׁמים ולכל חית השׂדה ולאדם לא־מצא עזר כנגדו

And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.

וַיַּפֵּל֩ יְהוָ֨ה אֱלֹהִ֧ים ׀ תַּרְדֵּמָ֛ה עַל הָ־אָדָ֖ם וַיִּישָׁ֑ן וַיִּקַּ֗ח אַחַת֙ מִצַּלְעֹתָ֔יו וַיִּסְגֹּ֥ר בָּשָׂ֖ר תַּחְתֶּֽנָּה׃
21
καὶ ἐπέβαλεν ὁ θεὸς ἔκστασιν ἐπὶ τὸν Ἀδάμ, καὶ ὕπνωσεν · καὶ ἔλαβεν μίαν τῶν πλευρῶν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀνεπλήρωσεν σάρκα ἀντ᾽ αὐτῆς.

Immísit ergo Dóminus Deus sopórem in Adam: cumque obdormísset, tulit unam de costis eius, et replévit carnem pro ea.

ויפל יהוה אלהים תרדמה על האדם ויישׁן ויקח אחת מצלעתיו ויסגר בשׂר תחתיה

וַיִּבֶן֩ יְהוָ֨ה אֱלֹהִ֧ים ׀ אֶֽת הַ־צֵּלָ֛ע אֲשֶׁר־לָקַ֥ח מִן הָֽ־אָדָ֖ם לְאִשָּׁ֑ה וַיְבִאֶ֖הָ אֶל הָֽ־אָדָֽם׃

καὶ ᾠκοδόμησεν Κύριος ὁ θεὸς τὴν πλευράν, ἣν ἔλαβεν ἀπὸ τοῦ Ἀδάμ, εἰς γυναῖκα · καὶ ἤγαγεν αὐτὴν πρὸς τὸν Ἀδάμ.

Et ædificávit Dóminus Deus costam, quam túlerat de Adam, in mulíerem: et addúxit eam ad Adam.

καὶ εἶπεν Ἀδάμ Τοῦτο νῦν ὀστοῦν ἐκ τῶν ὀστέων μου καὶ σὰρξ ἐκ τῆς σαρκός μου · αὕτη κληθήσεται Γυνή, ὅτι ἐκ τοῦ ἀνδρὸς αὐτῆς ἐλήμφθη αὕτη.

Dixítque Adam: Hoc nunc os ex óssibus meis, et caro de carne mea: hæc vocábitur Virágo, quóniam de viro sumpta est.

עַל־כֵּן֙ יַֽעֲזָב־אִ֔ישׁ אֶת אָבִ֖י־ו וְאֶת אִמּ֑־וֹ וְדָבַ֣ק בְּאִשְׁתּ֔וֹ וְהָי֖וּ לְבָשָׂ֥ר אֶחָֽד׃

ἕνεκεν τούτου καταλείψει ἄνθρωπος τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ καὶ τὴν μητέρα αὐτοῦ, καὶ προσκολληθήσεται τῇ γυναικὶ αὐτοῦ · καὶ ἔσονται οἱ δύο εἰς σάρκα μίαν.

Quam ob rem relínquet homo patrem suum, et matrem, et adhærébit uxóri suæ: et erunt duo in carne una.
