בְּרֵאשִׁ֖ית בָּרָ֣א אֱלֹהִ֑ים אֵ֥ת הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם וְאֵ֥ת הָאָֽרֶץ׃

ΕΝ ΑΡΧΗ ἐποίησεν ὁ θεὸς τὸν οὐρανὸν καὶ τὴν γῆν.

In princípio creávit Deus cælum, et terram.

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

וְהָאָ֗רֶץ הָיְתָ֥ה תֹ֨הוּ֙ וָבֹ֔הוּ וְחֹ֖שֶׁךְ עַל־פְּנֵ֣י תְה֑וֹם וְר֣וּחַ אֱלֹהִ֔ים מְרַחֶ֖פֶת עַל־פְּנֵ֥י הַמָּֽיִם׃

ἡ δὲ γῆ ἦν ἀόρατος καὶ ἀκατασκεύαστος, καὶ σκότος ἐπάνω τῆς ἀβύσσου · καὶ πνεῦμα θεοῦ ἐπεφέρετο ἐπάνω τοῦ ὕδατος.

Terra autem erat inánis et vácua, et ténebræ erant super fáciem abýssi: et Spíritus Dei ferebátur super aquas.

והארץ היתה תהו ובהו וחשׁך על־פני תהום ורוח אלהים מרחפת על־פני המים
2
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness [was] upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

καὶ ἴδεν ὁ θεὸς τὸ φῶς ὅτι καλόν · καὶ διεχώρισεν ὁ θεὸς ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ φωτὸς καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ σκότους.

Et vidit Deus lucem quod esset bona: et divísit lucem a ténebris.

And God saw the light, that [it was] good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

καὶ ἐκάλεσεν ὁ θεὸς τὸ φῶς ἡμέραν, καὶ τὸ σκότος ἐκάλεσεν νύκτα. καὶ ἐγένετο ἑσπέρα καὶ ἐγένετο πρωί, ἡμέρα μία.

Appellavítque lucem Diem, et ténebras Noctem: factúmque est véspere et mane, dies unus.

ויקרא אלהים לאור יום ולחשׁך קרא לילה ויהי־ערב ויהי־בקר יום אחד

And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

Καὶ εἶπεν ὁ θεός Γενηθήτω στερέωμα ἐν μέσῳ τοῦ ὕδατος, καὶ ἔστω διαχωρίζον ἀνὰ μέσον ὕδατος καὶ ὕδατος · καὶ ἐγένετο οὕτως.

Dixit quoque Deus: Fiat firmaméntum in médio aquárum: et dívidat aquas ab aquis.

ויאמר אלהים יהי רקיע בתוך המים ויהי מבדיל בין מים למים
6
And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.

καὶ ἐποίησεν ὁ θεὸς τὸ στερέωμα · καὶ διεχώρισεν ὁ θεὸς ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ ὕδατος ὃ ἦν ὑποκάτω τοῦ στερεώματος, καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ ὕδατος τοῦ ἐπάνω τοῦ στερεώματος.

Et fecit Deus firmaméntum, divisítque aquas, quæ erant sub firmaménto, ab his, quæ erant super firmaméntum. Et factum est ita.

ויעשׂ אלהים את הרקיע ויבדל בין המים אשׁר מתחת לרקיע ובין המים אשׁר מעל לרקיע ויהי־כן

And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which [were] under the firmament from the waters which [were] above the firmament: and it was so.

Vocavítque Deus firmaméntum, Cælum: et factum est véspere et mane, dies secúndus.

ויקרא אלהים לרקיע שׁמים ויהי־ערב ויהי־בקר יום שׁני

And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

Καὶ εἶπεν ὁ θεός Συναχθήτω τὸ ὕδωρ τὸ ὑποκάτω τοῦ οὐρανοῦ εἰς συναγωγὴν μίαν, καὶ ὀφθήτω ἡ ξηρά · καὶ ἐγένετο οὕτως. καὶ συνήχθη τὸ ὕδωρ τὸ ὑποκάτω τοῦ οὐρανοῦ εἰς τὰς συναγωγὰς αὐτῶν, ὤφθη ἡ ξηρά.

Dixit vero Deus: Congregéntur aquæ, quæ sub cælo sunt, in locum unum: et appáreat árida. Et factum est ita.

ויאמר אלהים יקוו המים מתחת השׁמים אל־מקום אחד ותראה היבשׁה ויהי־כן
9
And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry [land] appear: and it was so.

וַיִּקְרָ֨א אֱלֹהִ֤ים ׀ לַיַּבָּשָׁה֙ אֶ֔רֶץ וּלְמִקְוֵ֥ה הַמַּ֖יִם קָרָ֣א יַמִּ֑ים וַיַּ֥רְא אֱלֹהִ֖ים כִּי־טֽוֹב׃
10
καὶ ἐκάλεσεν ὁ θεὸς τὴν ξηρὰν γῆν, καὶ τὰ συστέματα τῶν ὑδάτων ἐκάλεσεν θαλάσσας · καὶ ἴδεν ὁ θεὸς ὅτι καλόν.

Et vocávit Deus áridam Terram, congregationésque aquárum appellávit Mária. Et vidit Deus quod esset bonum.

ויקרא אלהים ליבשׁה ארץ ולמקוה המים קרא ימים וירא אלהים כי־טוב

And God called the dry [land] Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that [it was] good.

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֱלֹהִ֗ים תַּֽדְשֵׁ֤א הָאָ֨רֶץ֙ דֶּ֔שֶׁא עֵ֚שֶׂב מַזְרִ֣יעַ זֶ֔רַע עֵ֣ץ פְּרִ֞י עֹ֤שֶׂה פְּרִי֙ לְמִינ֔וֹ אֲשֶׁ֥ר זַרְעוֹ ב֖־וֹ עַל הָ־אָ֑רֶץ וַֽיְהִי־כֵֽן׃

καὶ εἶπεν ὁ θεός Βλαστησάτω ἡ γῆ βοτάνην χόρτου, σπεῖρον σπέρμα κατὰ γένος καὶ καθ᾽ ὁμοιότητα, καὶ ξύλον κάρπιμον ποιοῦν καρπόν, οὗ τὸ σπέρμα αὐτοῦ ἐν αὐτῷ κατὰ γένος εἰς ὁμοιότητα ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς · καὶ ἐγένετο οὕτως.

Et ait: Gérminet terra herbam viréntem, et faciéntem semen, et lignum pomíferum fáciens fructum iuxta genus suum, cuius semen in semetípso sit super terram. Et factum est ita.

ויאמר אלהים תדשׁא הארץ דשׁא עשׂב מזריע זרע ועץ פרי עשׂה פרי למינו אשׁר זרעו בו על הארץ ויהי־כן
11
And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, [and] the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed [is] in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.

וַתּוֹצֵ֨א הָאָ֜רֶץ דֶּ֠שֶׁא עֵ֣שֶׂב מַזְרִ֤יעַ זֶ֨רַע֙ לְמִינֵ֔הוּ וְעֵ֧ץ עֹֽשֶׂה־פְּרִ֛י אֲשֶׁ֥ר זַרְעוֹ ב֖־וֹ לְמִינֵ֑הוּ וַיַּ֥רְא אֱלֹהִ֖ים כִּי־טֽוֹב׃
12
καὶ ἐξήνεγκεν ἡ γῆ βοτάνην χόρτου, σπεῖρον σπέρμα κατὰ γένος καὶ καθ᾽ ὁμοιότητα, καὶ ξύλον κάρπιμον ποιοῦν καρπόν, οὗ τὸ σπέρμα αὐτοῦ ἐν αὐτῷ κατὰ γένος ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς. καὶ ἴδεν ὁ θεὸς ὅτι καλόν.

Et prótulit terra herbam viréntem, et faciéntem semen iuxta genus suum, lignúmque fáciens fructum, et habens unumquódque seméntem secúndum spéciem suam. Et vidit Deus quod esset bonum.

ותוצא הארץ דשׁא עשׂב מזריע זרע למינהו ועץ עשׂה־פרי אשׁר זרעו בו למינהו וירא אלהים כי־טוב

And the earth brought forth grass, [and] herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed [was] in itself, after his kind: and God saw that [it was] good.

Καὶ εἶπεν ὁ θεός Γενηθήτωσαν φωστῆρες ἐν τῷ στερεώματι τοῦ οὐρανοῦ εἰς φαῦσιν τῆς γῆς, ἄρχειν τῆς ἡμέρας καὶ τῆς νυκτὸς καὶ διαχωρίζειν ἀνὰ μέσον τῆς ἡμέρας καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τῆς νυκτός · καὶ ἔστωσαν εἰς σημεῖα καὶ εἰς καιροὺς καὶ εἰς ἡμέρας καὶ εἰς ἐνιαυτούς ·

Dixit autem Deus: Fiant luminária in firmaménto cæli, et dívidant diem ac noctem, et sint in signa et témpora, et dies et annos:

ויאמר אלהים יהי מאורות ברקיע השׁמים להאיר על הארץ ולהבדיל בין היום ובין הלילה והיו לאתות ולמועדים ולימים ושׁנים

And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

καὶ ἔστωσαν εἰς φαῦσιν ἐν τῷ στερεώματι τοῦ οὐρανοῦ, ὥστε φαίνειν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς. καὶ ἐγένετο οὕτως.

ut lúceant in firmaménto cæli, et illúminent terram. Et factum est ita.

והיו למאורות ברקיע השׁמים להאיר על הארץ ויהי־כן
15
And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.

וַיַּ֣עַשׂ אֱלֹהִ֔ים אֶת־שְׁנֵ֥י הַמְּאֹרֹ֖ת הַגְּדֹלִ֑ים אֶת הַ־מָּא֤וֹר הַגָּדֹל֙ לְמֶמְשֶׁ֣לֶת הַיּ֔וֹם וְאֶת הַ־מָּא֤וֹר הַקָּטֹן֙ לְמֶמְשֶׁ֣לֶת הַלַּ֔יְלָה וְאֵ֖ת הַכּוֹכָבִֽים׃

καὶ ἐποίησεν ὁ θεὸς τοὺς δύο φωστῆρας τοὺς μεγάλους, τὸν φωστῆρα τὸν μέγαν εἰς ἀρχὰς τῆς ἡμέρας καὶ τὸν φωστῆρα τὸν ἐλάσσω εἰς ἀρχὰς τῆς νυκτός, καὶ τοὺς ἀστέρας.

Fecítque Deus duo luminária magna: lumináre maius, ut præésset diéi: et lumináre minus, ut præésset nocti: et stellas.

ויעשׂ אלהים את־שׁני המאורות הגדלים את המאור הגדול לממשׁלת היום ואת המאור הקטן לממשׁלת הלילה ואת הכוכבים
16
And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: [he made] the stars also.

וַיִּתֵּ֥ן אֹתָ֛ם אֱלֹהִ֖ים בִּרְקִ֣יעַ הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם לְהָאִ֖יר עַל הָ־אָֽרֶץ׃

καὶ ἔθετο αὐτοὺς ὁ θεὸς ἐν τῷ στερεώματι τοῦ οὐρανοῦ, ὥστε φαίνειν ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς,

Et pósuit eas in firmaménto cæli, ut lucérent super terram,

ויתן אתם אלהים ברקיע השׁמים להאיר על הארץ

And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,

καὶ ἄρχειν τῆς ἡμέρας καὶ τῆς νυκτός, καὶ διαχωρίζειν ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ φωτὸς καὶ ἀνὰ μέσον τοῦ σκότους · καὶ ἴδεν ὁ θεὸς ὅτι καλόν.

et præéssent diéi ac nocti, et divíderent lucem ac ténebras. Et vidit Deus quod esset bonum.

ולמשׁל ביום ובלילה ולהבדיל בין האור ובין החשׁך וירא אלהים כי־טוב

And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that [it was] good.

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֱלֹהִ֔ים יִשְׁרְצ֣וּ הַמַּ֔יִם שֶׁ֖רֶץ נֶ֣פֶשׁ חַיָּ֑ה וְעוֹף֙ יְעוֹפֵ֣ף עַל הָ־אָ֔רֶץ עַל־פְּנֵ֖י רְקִ֥יעַ הַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃

Καὶ εἶπεν ὁ θεός Ἐξαγαγέτω τὰ ὕδατα ἑρπετὰ ψυχῶν ζωσῶν καὶ πετεινὰ πετόμενα ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς κατὰ στερέωμα οὐρανοῦ · καὶ ἐγένετο οὕτως.

Dixit étiam Deus: Prodúcant aquæ réptile ánimæ vivéntis, et volátile super terram sub firmaménto cæli.

ויאמר אלהים ישׁרצו המים שׁרץ נפשׁ חיה ועוף יעפף על הארץ על־פני רקיע השׁמים
20
And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl [that] may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.

וַיִּבְרָ֣א אֱלֹהִ֔ים אֶת הַ־תַּנִּינִ֖ם הַגְּדֹלִ֑ים וְאֵ֣ת כָּל־נֶ֣פֶשׁ הַֽחַיָּ֣ה ׀ הָֽרֹמֶ֡שֶׂת אֲשֶׁר֩ שָׁרְצ֨וּ הַמַּ֜יִם לְמִֽינֵהֶ֗ם וְאֵ֨ת כָּל־ע֤וֹף כָּנָף֙ לְמִינֵ֔הוּ וַיַּ֥רְא אֱלֹהִ֖ים כִּי־טֽוֹב׃

καὶ ἐποίησεν ὁ θεὸς τὰ κήτη μεγάλα καὶ πᾶσαν ψυχὴν ἑρπετῶν, ἃ ἐξήγαγεν, καὶ πᾶν πετεινὸν πτερωτὸν κατὰ γένος · καὶ ἴδεν ὁ.

Creavítque Deus Cete grándia, et omnem ánimam vivéntem atque motábilem, quam prodúxerant aquæ in spécies suas, et omne volátile secúndum genus suum. Et vidit Deus quod esset bonum.

ויברא אלהים את התנינים הגדלים ואת כל־נפשׁ החיה הרמשׂת אשׁר שׁרצו המים למיניהם ואת כל־עוף כנף למינהו וירא אלהים כי־טוב

And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that [it was] good.
