וַיְהִי֙ כִּֽי־זָקֵ֣ן יִצְחָ֔ק וַתִּכְהֶ֥יןָ עֵינָ֖יו מֵרְאֹ֑ת וַיִּקְרָ֞א אֶת־עֵשָׂ֣ו ׀ בְּנ֣וֹ הַגָּדֹ֗ל וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֵלָיו֙ בְּנִ֔י וַיֹּ֥אמֶר אֵלָ֖יו הִנֵּֽנִי׃

Ἐγένετο δὲ μετὰ τὸ γηρᾶσαι Ἰσαὰκ καὶ ἠμβλύνθησαν οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ αὐτοῦ τοῦ ὁρᾷν, καὶ ἐκάλεσεν Ἠσαὺ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ τὸν πρεσβύτερον καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Υἱέ μου. καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Ἰδοὺ ἐγώ.

Sénuit autem Isaac, et caligavérunt óculi eius, et vidére non póterat: vocavítque Esau fílium suum maiórem, et dixit ei: Fili mi? Qui respóndit: Adsum.

ויהי כי־זקן יצחק ותכהנה עיניו מראות ויקרא את־עשׂו בנו הגדול ויאמר אליו בני ויאמר אליו הנני

And it came to pass, that when Isaac was old, and his eyes were dim, so that he could not see, he called Esau his eldest son, and said unto him, My son: and he said unto him, Behold, [here am] I.

וַיֹּ֕אמֶר הִנֵּה־נָ֖א זָקַ֑נְתִּי לֹ֥א יָדַ֖עְתִּי י֥וֹם מוֹתִֽי׃
2
καὶ εἶπεν Ἰδοὺ γεγήρακα, καὶ οὐ γινώσκω τὴν ἡμέραν τῆς τελευτῆς μου ·
2
Cui pater: Vides, inquit, quod senúerim, et ignórem diem mortis meæ.
2
ויאמר הנה־נא זקנתי לא ידעתי יום מותי
2
And he said, Behold now, I am old, I know not the day of my death:

וְעַתָּה֙ שָׂא־נָ֣א כֵלֶ֔יךָ תֶּלְיְךָ֖ וְקַשְׁתֶּ֑ךָ וְצֵא֙ הַשָּׂדֶ֔ה וְצ֥וּדָה לִּ֖י צידה׃
3
νῦν οὖν λάβε τὸ σκεῦος, τήν τε φαρέτραν καὶ τὸ τόξον, καὶ ἔξελθε εἰς τὸ πεδίον καὶ θήρευσόν μοι θήραν ·
3
Sume arma tua, pháretram, et arcum, et egrédere foras: cumque venátu áliquid apprehénderis,

ועתה שׂא־נא כליך תליתך וקשׁתך וצא השׂדה וצוד לי ציד
3
Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me [some] venison;

וַעֲשֵׂה לִ֨־י מַטְעַמִּ֜ים כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר אָהַ֛בְתִּי וְהָבִ֥יאָה לִּ֖י וְאֹכֵ֑לָה בַּעֲב֛וּר תְּבָרֶכְךָ֥ נַפְשִׁ֖י בְּטֶ֥רֶם אָמֽוּת׃
4
καὶ ποίησόν μοι ἐδέσματα ὡς φιλῶ ἐγώ, καὶ ἔνεγκόν μοι ἵνα φάγω · ὅπως εὐλογήσῃ σε ἡ ψυχή μου πρὸ τοῦ ἀποθανεῖν με.

fac mihi inde pulméntum sicut velle me nosti, et affer ut cómedam: et benedícat tibi ánima mea ántequam móriar.
4
ועשׂה לי מטעמים כאשׁר אהבתי והבאת לי ואכל בעבור תברכך נפשׁי בטרם אמות
4
And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring [it] to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die.

וְרִבְקָ֣ה שֹׁמַ֔עַת בְּדַבֵּ֣ר יִצְחָ֔ק אֶל־עֵשָׂ֖ו בְּנ֑וֹ וַיֵּ֤לֶךְ עֵשָׂו֙ הַשָּׂדֶ֔ה לָצ֥וּד צַ֖יִד לְהָבִֽיא׃

Ῥεβέκκα δὲ ἤκουσεν λαλοῦντος Ἰσαὰκ πρὸς Ἠσαὺ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ · ἐπορεύθη δὲ Ἠσαὺ εἰς τὸ πεδίον θηρεῦσαι θήραν τῷ πατρὶ αὐτοῦ.

Quod cum audísset Rebécca, et ille abiísset in agrum ut iussiónem patris impléret,

ורבקה שׁמעת בדבר יצחק אל־עשׂו בנו וילך עשׂו השׂדה לצוד ציד להביא
5
And Rebekah heard when Isaac spake to Esau his son. And Esau went to the field to hunt [for] venison, [and] to bring [it].

וְרִבְקָה֙ אָֽמְרָ֔ה אֶל־יַעֲקֹ֥ב בְּנָ֖הּ לֵאמֹ֑ר הִנֵּ֤ה שָׁמַ֨עְתִּי֙ אֶת אָבִ֔י־ךָ מְדַבֵּ֛ר אֶל־עֵשָׂ֥ו אָחִ֖יךָ לֵאמֹֽר׃

Ῥεβέκκα δὲ εἶπεν πρὸς Ἰακὼβ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτῆς τὸν ἐλάσσω Ἴδε ἐγὼ ἤκουσα τοῦ πατρός σου λαλοῦντος πρὸς Ἠσαὺ τὸν ἀδελφόν σου λέγοντος.

dixit fílio suo Iacob: Audívi patrem tuum loquéntem cum Esau fratre tuo, et dicéntem ei:

ורבקה אמרה אל־יעקב בנה לאמר הנה שׁמעתי את אביך מדבר אל־עשׂו אחיך לאמר

And Rebekah spake unto Jacob her son, saying, Behold, I heard thy father speak unto Esau thy brother, saying,

הָבִ֨יאָה לִּ֥י צַ֛יִד וַעֲשֵׂה לִ֥־י מַטְעַמִּ֖ים וְאֹכֵ֑לָה וַאֲבָרֶכְכָ֛ה לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָ֖ה לִפְנֵ֥י מוֹתִֽי׃
7
Ἔνεγκόν μοι θήραν καὶ ποίησόν μοι ἐδέσματα, ἵνα φαγὼν εὐλογήσω σε ἐναντίον Κυρίου πρὸ τοῦ ἀποθανεῖν με.

Affer mihi de venatióne tua, et fac cibos ut cómedam, et benedícam tibi coram Dómino ántequam móriar.

הבא לי ציד ועשׂה לי מטעמים ואכלה ואברכך לפני יהוה לפני מותי
7
Bring me venison, and make me savoury meat, that I may eat, and bless thee before the LORD before my death.

וְעַתָּ֥ה בְנִ֖י שְׁמַ֣ע בְּקֹלִ֑י לַאֲשֶׁ֥ר אֲנִ֖י מְצַוָּ֥ה אֹתָֽךְ׃

νῦν οὖν, υἱέ, ἄκουσόν μου καθὰ ἐγὼ ἐντέλλομαί σοι ·
8
Nunc ergo fili mi, acquiésce consíliis meis:

ועתה בני שׁמע בקולי לאשׁר אני מצויה אתך

Now therefore, my son, obey my voice according to that which I command thee.

לֶךְ־נָא֙ אֶל הַ־צֹּ֔אן וְקַֽח לִ֣־י מִשָּׁ֗ם שְׁנֵ֛י גְּדָיֵ֥י עִזִּ֖ים טֹבִ֑ים וְאֶֽעֱשֶׂ֨ה אֹתָ֧ם מַטְעַמִּ֛ים לְאָבִ֖יךָ כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר אָהֵֽב׃
9
καὶ πορευθεὶς εἰς τὰ πρόβατα λάβε μοι ἐκεῖθεν δύο ἐρίφους ἁπαλοὺς καὶ καλούς, καὶ ποιήσω αὐτοὺς ἐδέσματα τῷ πατρί σου ὡς φιλεῖ ·

et pergens ad gregem, affer mihi duos hædos óptimos, ut fáciam ex eis escas patri tuo, quibus libénter véscitur:

לך־נא אל הצאן וקח לי משׁם שׁני גדיי עזים טובים ואעשׂה אתם מטעמים לאביך כאשׁר אהב
9
Go now to the flock, and fetch me from thence two good kids of the goats; and I will make them savoury meat for thy father, such as he loveth:

וְהֵבֵאתָ֥ לְאָבִ֖יךָ וְאָכָ֑ל בַּעֲבֻ֛ר אֲשֶׁ֥ר יְבָרֶכְךָ֖ לִפְנֵ֥י מוֹתֽוֹ׃

καὶ εἰσοίσεις τῷ πατρί σου καὶ φάγεται, ὅπως εὐλογήσῃ σε ὁ πατήρ σου πρὸ τοῦ ἀποθανεῖν αὐτόν.

quas cum intúleris, et coméderit, benedícat tibi priúsquam moriátur.

והבאת לאביך ואכל בעבור אשׁר יברכך לפני מותו

And thou shalt bring [it] to thy father, that he may eat, and that he may bless thee before his death.

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יַעֲקֹ֔ב אֶל־רִבְקָ֖ה אִמּ֑וֹ הֵ֣ן עֵשָׂ֤ו אָחִי֙ אִ֣ישׁ שָׂעִ֔ר וְאָנֹכִ֖י אִ֥ישׁ חָלָֽק׃

εἶπεν δὲ Ἰακὼβ πρὸς Ῥεβέκκαν τὴν μητέρα αὐτοῦ Ἔστιν Ἠσαὺ ὁ ἀδελφός μου ἀνὴρ δασύς, ἐγὼ δὲ ἀνὴρ λεῖος ·

Cui ille respóndit: Nosti quod Esau frater meus homo pilósus sit, et ego lenis:

ויאמר יעקב אל־רבקה אמו הנה עשׂו אחי אישׁ שׂעיר ואנכי אישׁ חלק
11
And Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, Behold, Esau my brother [is] a hairy man, and I [am] a smooth man:

אוּלַ֤י יְמֻשֵּׁ֨נִי֙ אָבִ֔י וְהָיִ֥יתִי בְעֵינָ֖יו כִּמְתַעְתֵּ֑עַ וְהֵבֵאתִ֥י עָלַ֛י קְלָלָ֖ה וְלֹ֥א בְרָכָֽה׃
12
μή ποτε ψηλαφήσῃ με ὁ πατήρ μου, καὶ ἔσομαι ἐναντίον αὐτοῦ ὡς καταφρονῶν, καὶ ἐπάξω ἐπ᾽ ἐμαυτὸν κατάραν καὶ οὐκ εὐλογίαν.

si attrectáverit me pater meus, et sénserit, tímeo ne putet me sibi voluísse illúdere, et indúcam super me maledictiónem pro benedictióne.

אולי ימשׁני אבי והייתי בעיניו כמתעתע והבאת עלי קללה ולא ברכה
12
My father peradventure will feel me, and I shall seem to him as a deceiver; and I shall bring a curse upon me, and not a blessing.

וַתֹּ֤אמֶר לוֹ֙ אִמּ֔וֹ עָלַ֥י קִלְלָתְךָ֖ בְּנִ֑י אַ֛ךְ שְׁמַ֥ע בְּקֹלִ֖י וְלֵ֥ךְ קַֽח לִֽ־י׃
13
εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ ἡ μήτηρ Ἐπ᾽ ἐμὲ ἡ κατάρα σου, τέκνον · μόνον ὑπάκουσον τῆς φωνῆς μου, καὶ πορευθεὶς ἔνεγκαί μοι.

Ad quem mater: In me sit, ait, ista maledíctio, fili mi: tantum audi vocem meam, et pergens affer quæ dixi.

ותאמר לו אמו עלי קללתך בני אך שׁמע בקולי ולך קח לי
13
And his mother said unto him, Upon me [be] thy curse, my son: only obey my voice, and go fetch me [them].

וַיֵּ֨לֶךְ֙ וַיִּקַּ֔ח וַיָּבֵ֖א לְאִמּ֑וֹ וַתַּ֤עַשׂ אִמּוֹ֙ מַטְעַמִּ֔ים כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר אָהֵ֥ב אָבִֽיו׃

πορευθεὶς δὲ ἔλαβεν καὶ ἤνεγκεν τῇ μητρί, καὶ ἐποίησεν ἡ μήτηρ αὐτοῦ ἐδέσματα καθὰ ἐφίλει ὁ πατὴρ αὐτοῦ.

Abiit, et áttulit, dedítque matri. Parávit illa cibos, sicut velle nóverat patrem illíus.

וילך ויקח ויבא לאמו ותעשׂ אמו מטעמים כאשׁר אהב אביו

And he went, and fetched, and brought [them] to his mother: and his mother made savoury meat, such as his father loved.

וַתִּקַּ֣ח רִ֠בְקָה אֶת־בִּגְדֵ֨י עֵשָׂ֜ו בְּנָ֤הּ הַגָּדֹל֙ הַחֲמֻדֹ֔ת אֲשֶׁ֥ר אִתָּ֖הּ בַּבָּ֑יִת וַתַּלְבֵּ֥שׁ אֶֽת־יַעֲקֹ֖ב בְּנָ֥הּ הַקָּטָֽן׃
15
καὶ λαβοῦσα Ῥεβέκκα τὴν στολὴν Ἠσαὺ τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτῆς τοῦ πρεσβυτέρου τὴν καλήν, ἣ ἦν παρ᾽ αὐτῇ ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ, καὶ ἐνέδυσεν Ἰακὼβ τὸν υἱὸν αὐτῆς τὸν νεώτερον ·

Et véstibus Esau valde bonis, quas apud se habébat domi, índuit eum:
15
ותקח רבקה את־בגדי עשׂו בנה הגדול החמדות אשׁר אתה בבית ותלבישׁ את־יעקב בנה הקטן
15
And Rebekah took goodly raiment of her eldest son Esau, which [were] with her in the house, and put them upon Jacob her younger son:

וְאֵ֗ת עֹרֹת֙ גְּדָיֵ֣י הָֽעִזִּ֔ים הִלְבִּ֖ישָׁה עַל יָדָ֑י־ו וְעַ֖ל חֶלְקַ֥ת צַוָּארָֽיו׃

καὶ τὰ δέρματα τῶν ἐρίφων περιέθηκεν ἐπὶ τοὺς βραχίονας αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐπὶ τὰ γυμνὰ τοῦ τραχήλου αὐτοῦ ·

pelliculásque hædórum circúmdedit mánibus, et colli nuda protéxit:

ואת עורות גדיי העזים הלבישׁה על ידו ועל חלקת צוארו

And she put the skins of the kids of the goats upon his hands, and upon the smooth of his neck:

וַתִּתֵּ֧ן אֶת הַ־מַּטְעַמִּ֛ים וְאֶת הַ־לֶּ֖חֶם אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֑תָה בְּיַ֖ד יַעֲקֹ֥ב בְּנָֽהּ׃
17
καὶ ἔδωκεν τὰ ἐδέσματα καὶ τοὺς ἄρτους οὓς ἐποίησεν εἰς τὰς χεῖρας Ἰακὼβ τοῦ υἱοῦ αὐτῆς.

dedítque pulméntum, et panes, quos cóxerat, trádidit.

ותתן את המטעמים ואת הלחם אשׁר עשׂתה ביד יעקב בנה

And she gave the savoury meat and the bread, which she had prepared, into the hand of her son Jacob.

וַיָּבֹ֥א אֶל אָבִ֖י־ו וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אָבִ֑י וַיֹּ֣אמֶר הִנֶּ֔נִּי מִ֥י אַתָּ֖ה בְּנִֽי׃

καὶ εἰσήνεγκεν τῷ πατρὶ αὐτοῦ · εἶπεν δέ Πάτερ μου · ὁ δὲ εἶπεν Ἰδοὺ ἐγώ · τίς εἶ σύ, τέκνον?

Quibus illátis, dixit: Pater mi? At ille respóndit: Audio. Quis es tu fili mi?

ויבא אל אביו ויאמר אבי ויאמר הנני מי אתה בני

And he came unto his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here [am] I; who [art] thou, my son?

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יַעֲקֹ֜ב אֶל אָבִ֗י־ו אָנֹכִי֙ עֵשָׂ֣ו בְּכֹרֶ֔ךָ עָשִׂ֕יתִי כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבַּ֖רְתָּ אֵלָ֑י קֽוּם־נָ֣א שְׁבָ֗ה וְאָכְלָה֙ מִצֵּידִ֔י בַּעֲב֖וּר תְּבָרֲכַ֥נִּי נַפְשֶֽׁךָ׃

καὶ εἶπεν Ἰακὼβ ὁ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ τῷ πατρὶ αὐτοῦ Ἐγὼ Ἠσαὺ ὁ πρωτότοκός σου, ἐποίησα καθὰ ἐλάλησάς μοι · ἀναστὰς κάθισον καὶ φάγε τῆς θήρας μου, ὅπως εὐλογήσῃ με ἡ ψυχή σου.

Dixítque Iacob: Ego sum primogénitus tuus Esau: feci sicut præcepísti mihi: surge, sede, et cómede de venatióne mea, ut benedícat mihi ánima tua.

ויאמר יעקב אל אביו אנכי עשׂו בכרך עשׂיתי כאשׁר דברת אלי קום־נא שׁבה ואכלה מצידי בעבור תברכני נפשׁך
19
And Jacob said unto his father, I [am] Esau thy firstborn; I have done according as thou badest me: arise, I pray thee, sit and eat of my venison, that thy soul may bless me.

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יִצְחָק֙ אֶל בְּנ֔־וֹ מַה־זֶּ֛ה מִהַ֥רְתָּ לִמְצֹ֖א בְּנִ֑י וַיֹּ֕אמֶר כִּ֥י הִקְרָ֛ה יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ לְפָנָֽי׃
20
εἶπεν δὲ Ἰσαὰκ τῷ υἱῷ αὐτοῦ Τί τοῦτο ὃ ταχὺ εὗρες, ὦ τέκνον? ὁ δὲ εἶπεν Ὃ παρέδωκεν Κύριος ὁ θεὸς ἐναντίον μου.

Rursúmque Isaac ad fílium suum: Quómodo, inquit, tam cito inveníre potuísti, fili mi? Qui respóndit: Volúntas Dei fuit ut cito occúrreret mihi quod volébam.

ויאמר יצחק אל בנו מה־זה מהרת למצא בני ויאמר כי הקרא יהוה אלהיך לפני
20
And Isaac said unto his son, How [is it] that thou hast found [it] so quickly, my son? And he said, Because the LORD thy God brought [it] to me.

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יִצְחָק֙ אֶֽל־יַעֲקֹ֔ב גְּשָׁה־נָּ֥א וַאֲמֻֽשְׁךָ֖ בְּנִ֑י הַֽאַתָּ֥ה זֶ֛ה בְּנִ֥י עֵשָׂ֖ו אִם־לֹֽא׃
21
εἶπεν δὲ Ἰσαὰκ τῷ Ἰακώβ Ἔγγισόν μοι καὶ ψηλαφήσω σε, τέκνον, εἰ σὺ εἶ ὁ υἱός μου Ἠσαὺ ἢ οὔ.

Dixítque Isaac: Accéde huc, ut tangam te, fili mi, et probem utrum tu sis fílius meus Esau, an non.

ויאמר יצחק אל־יעקב גשׁה נא ואמושׁך בני האתה זה בני עשׂו אם־לא
21
And Isaac said unto Jacob, Come near, I pray thee, that I may feel thee, my son, whether thou [be] my very son Esau or not.

וַיִּגַּ֧שׁ יַעֲקֹ֛ב אֶל־יִצְחָ֥ק אָבִ֖יו וַיְמֻשֵּׁ֑הוּ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר הַקֹּל֙ ק֣וֹל יַעֲקֹ֔ב וְהַיָּדַ֖יִם יְדֵ֥י עֵשָֽׂו׃

ἤγγισεν δὲ Ἰακὼβ πρὸς Ἰσαὰκ τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἐψηλάφησεν αὐτόν · καὶ εἶπεν Ἡ φωνὴ φωνὴ Ἰακώβ, αἱ δὲ χεῖρες χεῖρες Ἠσαύ.

Accéssit ille ad patrem, et palpáto eo, dixit Isaac: Vox quidem, vox Iacob est: sed manus, manus sunt Esau.

ויגשׁ יעקב אל־יצחק אביו וימשׁהו ויאמר הקול קול יעקב והידים ידי עשׂו
22
And Jacob went near unto Isaac his father; and he felt him, and said, The voice [is] Jacob ’s voice, but the hands [are] the hands of Esau.

וְלֹ֣א הִכִּיר֔וֹ כִּֽי־הָי֣וּ יָדָ֗יו כִּידֵ֛י עֵשָׂ֥ו אָחִ֖יו שְׂעִרֹ֑ת וַֽיְבָרְכֵֽהוּ׃

καὶ οὐκ ἐπέγνω αὐτόν · ἦσαν γὰρ αἱ χεῖρες αὐτοῦ ὡς αἱ χεῖρες Ἠσαὺ τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ δασεῖαι · καὶ ηὐλόγησεν αὐτόν.

Et non cognóvit eum, quia pilósæ manus similitúdinem maióris exprésserant. Benedícens ergo illi,

ולא הכירו כי־היו ידיו כידי עשׂו אחיו שׂעירות ויברכהו

And he discerned him not, because his hands were hairy, as his brother Esau ’s hands: so he blessed him.

וַיֹּ֕אמֶר אַתָּ֥ה זֶ֖ה בְּנִ֣י עֵשָׂ֑ו וַיֹּ֖אמֶר אָֽנִי׃

καὶ εἶπεν Σὺ εἶ ὁ υἱός μου Ἠσαύ? ὁ δὲ εἶπεν Ἐγώ.

ait: Tu es fílius meus Esau? Respóndit: Ego sum.

ויאמר האתה זה בני עשׂו ויאמר אני
24
And he said, [Art] thou my very son Esau? And he said, I [am].

וַיֹּ֗אמֶר הַגִּ֤שָׁה לִּי֙ וְאֹֽכְלָה֙ מִצֵּ֣יד בְּנִ֔י לְמַ֥עַן תְּבָֽרֶכְךָ֖ נַפְשִׁ֑י וַיַּגֶּשׁ ל־וֹ֙ וַיֹּאכַ֔ל וַיָּ֧בֵא ל֦וֹ יַ֖יִן וַיֵּֽשְׁתְּ׃
