וַיְהִ֗י כְּכַלֹּתוֹ֙ לְדַבֵּ֣ר אֶל־שָׁא֔וּל וְנֶ֨פֶשׁ֙ יְה֣וֹנָתָ֔ן נִקְשְׁרָ֖ה בְּנֶ֣פֶשׁ דָּוִ֑ד ויאהבו יְהוֹנָתָ֖ן כְּנַפְשֽׁוֹ׃

καὶ πονηρὸν ἐφάνη τὸ ῥῆμα ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς Σαοὺλ περὶ τοῦ λόγου τούτου, καὶ εἶπεν Τῷ Δαυεὶδ ἔδωκαν τὰς μυριάδας, καὶ ἐμοὶ ἔδωκαν τὰς χιλιάδας.

Irátus est autem Saul nimis, et displícuit in óculis eius sermo iste: dixítque: Dedérunt David decem míllia, et mihi mille dedérunt: quid ei súperest, nisi solum regnum?

Et mandávit Saul servis suis: Loquímini ad David clam me, dicéntes: Ecce places regi, et omnes servi eius díligunt te: nunc ergo esto gener regis.

καὶ ἐλάλησαν οἱ παῖδες Σαοὺλ εἰς τὰ ὦτα Δαυεὶδ τὰ ῥήματα ταῦτα · καὶ εἶπεν Δαυείδ Κοῦφον ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς ὑμῶν ἐπιγαμβρεῦσαι βασιλεῖ? κἀγὼ ἀνὴρ ταπεινὸς καὶ οὐχὶ ἔνδοξος.

Et locúti sunt servi Saul in áuribus David ómnia verba hæc. Et ait David: Num parum vidétur vobis, génerum esse regis? ego autem sum vir pauper et ténuis.

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר שָׁא֜וּל כֹּֽה־תֹאמְר֣וּ לְדָוִ֗ד אֵֽין־חֵ֤פֶץ לַמֶּ֨לֶךְ֙ בְּמֹ֔הַר כִּ֗י בְּמֵאָה֙ עָרְל֣וֹת פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים לְהִנָּקֵ֖ם בְּאֹיְבֵ֣י הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וְשָׁא֣וּל חָשַׁ֔ב לְהַפִּ֥יל אֶת־דָּוִ֖ד בְּיַד־פְּלִשְׁתִּֽים׃

καὶ εἶπεν Σαούλ Τάδε ἐρεῖτε τῷ Δαυείδ Οὐ βούλεται βασιλεὺς ἐν δόματι ἀλλ᾽ ἐν ἑκατὸν ἀκροβυστίαις ἀλλοφύλων, ἐκδικῆσαι ἐχθροὺς τοῦ βασιλέως. καὶ Σαοὺλ ἐλογίσατο αὐτὸν ἐμβαλεῖν εἰς χεῖρας τῶν ἀλλοφύλων.

Dixit autem Saul: Sic loquímini ad David: Non habet rex sponsália necésse, nisi tantum centum præpútia Philisthinórum, ut fiat últio de inimícis regis. Porro Saul cogitábat trádere David in manus Philisthinórum.

And Saul said, Thus shall ye say to David, The king desireth not any dowry, but an hundred foreskins of the Philistines, to be avenged of the king ’s enemies. But Saul thought to make David fall by the hand of the Philistines.

וַיַּגִּ֨דוּ עֲבָדָ֤יו לְדָוִד֙ אֶת הַ־דְּבָרִ֣ים הָאֵ֔לֶּה וַיִּשַׁ֤ר הַדָּבָר֙ בְּעֵינֵ֣י דָוִ֔ד לְהִתְחַתֵּ֖ן בַּמֶּ֑לֶךְ וְלֹ֥א מָלְא֖וּ הַיָּמִֽים׃
