שְׁמַ֣ע יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל אַתָּ֨ה עֹבֵ֤ר הַיּוֹם֙ אֶת הַ־יַּרְדֵּ֔ן לָבֹא֙ לָרֶ֣שֶׁת גּוֹיִ֔ם גְּדֹלִ֥ים וַעֲצֻמִ֖ים מִמֶּ֑ךָּ עָרִ֛ים גְּדֹלֹ֥ת וּבְצֻרֹ֖ת בַּשָּׁמָֽיִם׃

Ἄκουε, Ἰσραήλ · σὺ διαβαίνεις σήμερον τὸν Ἰορδάνην τοῦτον εἰσελθεῖν κληρονομῆσαι ἔθνη μεγάλα καὶ ἰσχυρότερα μᾶλλον ἢ ὑμεῖς, πόλεις μεγάλας καὶ τειχήρεις ἕως τοῦ οὐρανοῦ,

Audi Israel: tu transgrediéris hódie Iordánem, ut possídeas natiónes máximas et fortióres te, civitátes ingéntes, et ad cælum usque murátas,

שׁמע ישׂראל אתה עבר היום את הירדן לבוא לרשׁת גוים גדלים ועצמים ממך ערים גדלות ובצרות בשׁמים

Hear, O Israel: Thou [art] to pass over Jordan this day, to go in to possess nations greater and mightier than thyself, cities great and fenced up to heaven,

עַֽם־גָּד֥וֹל וָרָ֖ם בְּנֵ֣י עֲנָקִ֑ים אֲשֶׁ֨ר אַתָּ֤ה יָדַ֨עְתָּ֙ וְאַתָּ֣ה שָׁמַ֔עְתָּ מִ֣י יִתְיַצֵּ֔ב לִפְנֵ֖י בְּנֵ֥י עֲנָֽק׃

λαὸν μέγαν καὶ πολὺν καὶ εὐμήκη, υἱοὺς Ἐνάκ, οὓς σὺ οἶσθας καὶ σὺ ἀκήκοας Τίς ἀντιστήσεται κατὰ πρόσωπον υἱῶν Ἐνάκ;

pópulum magnum atque sublímem, fílios Enacim, quos ipse vidísti et audísti, quibus nullus potest ex advérso resístere.

עם־גדול ורם בני ענקים אשׁר אתה ידעת ואתה שׁמעת מי יתיצב לפני בני ענק
2
A people great and tall, the children of the Anakims, whom thou knowest, and [of whom] thou hast heard [say], Who can stand before the children of Anak!

וְיָדַעְתָּ֣ הַיּ֗וֹם כִּי֩ יְהוָ֨ה אֱלֹהֶ֜יךָ הֽוּא הָ־עֹבֵ֤ר לְפָנֶ֨יךָ֙ אֵ֣שׁ אֹֽכְלָ֔ה ה֧וּא יַשְׁמִידֵ֛ם וְה֥וּא יַכְנִיעֵ֖ם לְפָנֶ֑יךָ וְהֽוֹרַשְׁתָּ֤ם וְהַֽאַבַדְתָּם֙ מַהֵ֔ר כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר דִּבֶּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה לָֽךְ׃

καὶ γνώσῃ σήμερον ὅτι Κύριος ὁ θεός σου, οὗτος προπορεύεται πρὸ προσώπου σου · πῦρ καταναλίσκον ἐστίν · οὗτος ἐξολεθρεύσει αὐτούς, καὶ οὗτος ἀποστρέψει αὐτοὺς ἀπὸ προσώπου σου, καὶ ἀπολεῖς αὐτοὺς καθάπερ εἶπέν σοι Κύριος.

Scies ergo hódie quod Dóminus Deus tuus ipse transíbit ante te, ignis dévorans atque consúmens, qui cónterat eos, et déleat atque dispérdat ante fáciem tuam velóciter, sicut locútus est tibi.

וידעת היום כי יהוה אלהיך הוא העבר לפניך אשׁ אכלה הוא ישׁמידם והוא יכנעם לפניך והורשׁתם ואבדתם מהר כאשׁר דבר יהוה לך

Understand therefore this day, that the LORD thy God [is] he which goeth over before thee; [as] a consuming fire he shall destroy them, and he shall bring them down before thy face: so shalt thou drive them out, and destroy them quickly, as the LORD hath said unto thee.

אַל־תֹּאמַ֣ר בִּלְבָבְךָ֗ בַּהֲדֹ֣ף יְהוָה֩ אֱלֹהֶ֨יךָ אֹתָ֥ם ׀ מִלְּפָנֶיךָ֮ לֵאמֹר֒ בְּצִדְקָתִי֙ הֱבִיאַ֣נִי יְהוָ֔ה לָרֶ֖שֶׁת אֶת הָ־אָ֣רֶץ הַזֹּ֑את וּבְרִשְׁעַת֙ הַגּוֹיִ֣ם הָאֵ֔לֶּה יְהוָ֖ה מוֹרִישָׁ֥ם מִפָּנֶֽיךָ׃

μὴ εἴπῃς ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ σου, ἐν τῷ ἐξαναλῶσαι Κύριον τὸν θεόν σου τὰ ἔθνη ταῦτα ἀπὸ προσώπου, λέγων Διὰ τὴν δικαιοσύνην μου εἰσήγαγέν με Κύριος κληρονομῆσαι τὴν γῆν τὴν ἀγαθὴν ταύτην.

Ne dicas in corde tuo, cum deléverit eos Dóminus Deus tuus in conspéctu tuo: Propter iustítiam meam introdúxit me Dóminus ut terram hanc possidérem, cum propter impietátes suas istæ delétæ sint natiónes.

אל־תאמר בלבבך בהדיף יהוה אלהיך אתם מפניך לאמר בצדקתי הביאני יהוה לרשׁת את הארץ הזאת וברשׁעת הגוים האלה יהוה מורישׁם מפניך
4
Speak not thou in thine heart, after that the LORD thy God hath cast them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness the LORD hath brought me in to possess this land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD doth drive them out from before thee.

לֹ֣א בְצִדְקָתְךָ֗ וּבְיֹ֨שֶׁר֙ לְבָ֣בְךָ֔ אַתָּ֥ה בָ֖א לָרֶ֣שֶׁת אֶת אַרְצָ֑־ם כִּ֞י בְּרִשְׁעַ֣ת ׀ הַגּוֹיִ֣ם הָאֵ֗לֶּה יְהוָ֤ה אֱלֹהֶ֨יךָ֙ מוֹרִישָׁ֣ם מִפָּנֶ֔יךָ וּלְמַ֜עַן הָקִ֣ים אֶת הַ־דָּבָ֗ר אֲשֶׁ֨ר נִשְׁבַּ֤ע יְהוָה֙ לַאֲבֹתֶ֔יךָ לְאַבְרָהָ֥ם לְיִצְחָ֖ק וּֽלְיַעֲקֹֽב׃

οὐχὶ διὰ τὴν δικαιοσύνην σου οὐδὲ διὰ τὴν ὁσιότητα τῆς καρδίας σου σὺ εἰσπορεύῃ κληρονομῆσαι τὴν γῆν αὐτῶν, ἀλλὰ διὰ τὴν ἀσέβειαν τῶν ἐθνῶν τούτων Κύριος ἐξολεθρεύσει αὐτοὺς ἀπὸ προσώπου σου · καὶ ἵνα στήσῃ τὴν διαθήκην αὐτοῦ ἣν ὤμοσεν τοῖς πατράσιν ὑμῶν, τῷ Ἀβραὰμ καὶ τῷ Ἰσαὰκ καὶ τῷ Ἰακώβ.

Neque enim propter iustítias tuas, et æquitátem cordis tui ingrediéris, ut possídeas terras eárum: sed quia illæ egérunt ímpie, introeúnte te delétæ sunt: et ut compléret verbum suum Dóminus, quod sub iuraménto pollícitus est pátribus tuis, Abraham, Isaac, et Iacob.

לא בצדקתך ובישׁר לבבך אתה בא לרשׁת את ארצם כי ברשׁעת הגוים האלה יהוה מורישׁם מפניך ולמען הקים את הדבר אשׁר נשׁבע לאבתיך לאברהם ליצחק וליעקב
5
Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thine heart, dost thou go to possess their land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee, and that he may perform the word which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

וְיָדַעְתָּ֗ כִּ֠י לֹ֤א בְצִדְקָֽתְךָ֙ יְהוָ֣ה אֱ֠לֹהֶיךָ נֹתֵ֨ן לְךָ֜ אֶת הָ־אָ֧רֶץ הַטּוֹבָ֛ה הַזֹּ֖את לְרִשְׁתָּ֑הּ כִּ֥י עַם־קְשֵׁה־עֹ֖רֶף אָֽתָּה׃

καὶ γνώσῃ σήμερον ὅτι οὐχὶ διὰ τὰς δικαιοσύνας σου Κύριος ὁ θεός σου δίδωσίν σοι τὴν γῆν τὴν ἀγαθὴν ταύτην κληρονομῆσαι, ὅτι λαὸς σκληροτράχηλος εἶ.

Scito ergo quod non propter iustítias tuas Dóminus Deus tuus déderit tibi terram hanc óptimam in possessiónem, cum duríssimæ cervícis sis pópulus.

וידעת כי לא בצדקתך יהוה אלהיך נתן לך את הארץ הטובה הזאת לרשׁתה כי עם־קשׁה־ערף אתה
6
Understand therefore, that the LORD thy God giveth thee not this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou [art] a stiffnecked people.

[יהוה אלהי׳ך נתן ל׳ך את הארץ הטוב]ה# הזאת[ לרשת׳ה כי עם־קשה־ערף אתה ׃

זְכֹר֙ אַל־תִּשְׁכַּ֔ח אֵ֧ת אֲשֶׁר־הִקְצַ֛פְתָּ אֶת־יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֶ֖יךָ בַּמִּדְבָּ֑ר לְמִן הַ־יּ֞וֹם אֲשֶׁר־יָצָ֣אתָ ׀ מֵאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֗יִם עַד בֹּֽאֲ־כֶם֙ עַד הַ־מָּק֣וֹם הַזֶּ֔ה מַמְרִ֥ים הֱיִיתֶ֖ם עִם־יְהוָֽה׃

μνήσθητι μὴ ἐπιλάθῃ ὅσα παρώξυνας Κύριον τὸν θεόν σου ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ · ἀφ᾽ ἧς ἡμέρας ἐξήλθετε ἐξ Αἰγύπτου καὶ ἤλθετε εἰς τὸν τόπον τοῦτον, ἀπειθοῦντες διετελεῖτε τὰ πρὸς Κύριον.

Meménto, et ne obliviscáris, quómodo ad iracúndiam provocáveris Dóminum Deum tuum in solitúdine. Ex eo die, quo egréssus es ex Ægýpto usque ad locum istum, semper advérsum Dóminum contendísti.

זכור ואל־תשׁכח את אשׁר־הקצפת את־יהוה אלהיך במדבר למן היום אשׁר יצאתם מארץ מצרים עד באכם עד המקום הזה ממרים הייתם עם־יהוה
7
Remember, [and] forget not, how thou provokedst the LORD thy God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that thou didst depart out of the land of Egypt, until ye came unto this place, ye have been rebellious against the LORD.

זכר] [אל־תשכח את אשר־הקצפת את־י]הוה א#[להי׳ך במדבר למן היום אשר־יצאת מארץ] [מצרים עד בא׳כם א]ל##[ המקום הזה ממרים הייתם עם־יהוה ε ׃

וּבְחֹרֵ֥ב הִקְצַפְתֶּ֖ם אֶת־יְהוָ֑ה וַיִּתְאַנַּ֧ף יְהוָ֛ה בָּכֶ֖ם לְהַשְׁמִ֥יד אֶתְכֶֽם׃

καὶ ἐν Χωρὴβ παρωξύνατε Κύριον, καὶ ἐθυμώθη ἐφ᾽ ὑμῖν ἐξολεθρεῦσαι ὑμᾶς,

Nam et in Horeb provocásti eum, et irátus delére te vóluit,

ובחורב הקצפתם את־יהוה ויתאנף יהוה בכם להשׁמיד אתכם

Also in Horeb ye provoked the LORD to wrath, so that the LORD was angry with you to have destroyed you.

בַּעֲלֹתִ֣י הָהָ֗רָה לָקַ֜חַת לוּחֹ֤ת הָֽאֲבָנִים֙ לוּחֹ֣ת הַבְּרִ֔ית אֲשֶׁר־כָּרַ֥ת יְהוָ֖ה עִמָּכֶ֑ם וָאֵשֵׁ֣ב בָּהָ֗ר אַרְבָּעִ֥ים יוֹם֙ וְאַרְבָּעִ֣ים לַ֔יְלָה לֶ֚חֶם לֹ֣א אָכַ֔לְתִּי וּמַ֖יִם לֹ֥א שָׁתִֽיתִי׃

ἀναβαίνοντός μου εἰς τὸ ὄρος λαβεῖν τὰς πλάκας τὰς λιθίνας, πλάκας διαθήκης ἃς διέθετο Κύριος πρὸς ὑμᾶς · καὶ κατεγινόμην ἐν τῷ ὄρει τεσσεράκοντα ἡμέρας καὶ τεσσεράκοντα νύκτας · ἄρτον οὐκ ἔφαγον καὶ ὕδωρ οὐκ ἔπιον.

quando ascéndi in montem, ut accíperem tábulas lapídeas, tábulas pacti quod pépigit vobíscum Dóminus: et perseverávi in monte quadragínta diébus ac nóctibus, panem non cómedens, et aquam non bibens.

בעלותי ההרה לקחת לוחות האבנים לוחת הברית אשׁר־כרת יהוה עמכם ואשׁב בהר ארבעים יום וארבעים לילה לחם לא אכלתי ומים לא שׁתיתי

When I was gone up into the mount to receive the tables of stone, [even] the tables of the covenant which the LORD made with you, then I abode in the mount forty days and forty nights, I neither did eat bread nor drink water:

וַיִּתֵּ֨ן יְהוָ֜ה אֵלַ֗י אֶת־שְׁנֵי֙ לוּחֹ֣ת הָֽאֲבָנִ֔ים כְּתֻבִ֖ים בְּאֶצְבַּ֣ע אֱלֹהִ֑ים וַעֲלֵיהֶ֗ם כְּֽכָל הַ־דְּבָרִ֡ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר דִּבֶּר֩ יְהוָ֨ה עִמָּכֶ֥ם בָּהָ֛ר מִתּ֥וֹךְ הָאֵ֖שׁ בְּי֥וֹם הַקָּהָֽל׃

καὶ ἔδωκεν Κύριος ἐμοὶ τὰς δύο πλάκας τὰς λιθίνας, γεγραμμένας ἐν τῷ δακτύλῳ τοῦ θεοῦ, καὶ ἐπ᾽ αὐταῖς ἐγέγραπτο πάντες οἱ λόγοι οὓς ἐλάλησεν Κύριος πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἐν τῷ ὄρει ἡμέρᾳ ἐκκλησίας ·

Dedítque mihi Dóminus duas tábulas lapídeas scriptas dígito Dei, et continéntes ómnia verba quæ vobis locútus est in monte de médio ignis, quando cóncio pópuli congregáta est.

ויתן יהוה אלי את־שׁני לוחת האבנים כתובים באצבע אלהים ועליהם ככל הדברים אשׁר דבר יהוה אליכם בהר מתוך האשׁ ביום הקהל

And the LORD delivered unto me two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them [was written] according to all the words, which the LORD spake with you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly.

וַיְהִ֗י מִקֵּץ֙ אַרְבָּעִ֣ים י֔וֹם וְאַרְבָּעִ֖ים לָ֑יְלָה נָתַ֨ן יְהוָ֜ה אֵלַ֗י אֶת־שְׁנֵ֛י לֻחֹ֥ת הָאֲבָנִ֖ים לֻח֥וֹת הַבְּרִֽית׃

καὶ ἐγένετο διὰ τεσσεράκοντα ἡμερῶν καὶ τεσσεράκοντα νυκτῶν ἔδωκεν Κύριος ἐμοὶ τὰς δύο πλάκας τὰς λιθίνας, πλάκας διαθήκης.

Cumque transíssent quadragínta dies, et tótidem noctes, dedit mihi Dóminus duas tábulas lapídeas, tábulas fœ́deris,

ויהי מקץ ארבעים יום וארבעים לילה נתן יהוה אלי את־שׁני לוחת הברית
11
And it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, [that] the LORD gave me the two tables of stone, [even] the tables of the covenant.

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהוָ֜ה אֵלַ֗י ק֣וּם רֵ֤ד מַהֵר֙ מִזֶּ֔ה כִּ֚י שִׁחֵ֣ת עַמְּךָ֔ אֲשֶׁ֥ר הוֹצֵ֖אתָ מִמִּצְרָ֑יִם סָ֣רוּ מַהֵ֗ר מִן הַ־דֶּ֨רֶךְ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר צִוִּיתִ֔ם עָשׂ֥וּ לָהֶ֖ם מַסֵּכָֽה׃

καὶ εἶπεν Κύριος πρὸς μέ Ἀνάστηθι, κατάβηθι τὸ τάχος ἐντεῦθεν, ὅτι ἠνόμησεν ὁ λαός σου οὓς ἐξήγαγες ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου · παρέβησαν ταχὺ ἐκ τῆς ὁδοῦ ἧς ἐνετείλω αὐτοῖς, καὶ ἐποίησαν ἑαυτοῖς χώνευμα.

dixítque mihi: Surge, et descénde hinc cito: quia pópulus tuus, quem eduxísti de Ægýpto, deseruérunt velóciter viam, quam demonstrásti eis, fecerúntque sibi conflátile.

ויאמר יהוה אלי קום רד מהר מזה כי שׁחת עמך אשׁר הוצאת ממצרים סרו מהר מן הדרך אשׁר צויתם עשׂו להם עגל מסכה
12
And the LORD said unto me, Arise, get thee down quickly from hence; for thy people which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt have corrupted [themselves]; they are quickly turned aside out of the way which I commanded them; they have made them a molten image.

וַיֹּ֥אמֶר יְהוָ֖ה אֵלַ֣י לֵאמֹ֑ר רָאִ֨יתִי֙ אֶת הָ־עָ֣ם הַזֶּ֔ה וְהִנֵּ֥ה עַם־קְשֵׁה־עֹ֖רֶף הֽוּא׃

καὶ εἶπεν Κύριος πρὸς μέ Λελάληκα πρὸς σὲ ἅπαξ καὶ δὶς λέγων Ἑώρακα τὸν λαὸν τοῦτον, καὶ ἰδοὺ λαὸς σκληροτράχηλός ἐστιν ·

Rursúmque ait Dóminus ad me: Cerno quod pópulus iste duræ cervícis sit:

ויאמר יהוה אלי לאמר ראיתי את העם הזה והנה עם־קשׁה־ערף הוא

Furthermore the LORD spake unto me, saying, I have seen this people, and, behold, it [is] a stiffnecked people:

הֶ֤רֶף מִמֶּ֨נִּי֙ וְאַשְׁמִידֵ֔ם וְאֶמְחֶ֣ה אֶת שְׁמָ֔־ם מִתַּ֖חַת הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם וְאֶֽעֱשֶׂה֙ אֽוֹתְךָ֔ לְגוֹי־עָצ֥וּם וָרָ֖ב מִמֶּֽנּוּ׃
14
καὶ νῦν ἔασόν με ἐξολεθρεῦσαι αὐτούς, καὶ ἐξαλείψω τὸ ὄνομα αὐτῶν ὑποκάτωθεν τοῦ οὐρανοῦ, καὶ ποιήσω σε εἰς ἔθνος μέγα καὶ ἰσχυρὸν καὶ πολὺ μᾶλλον ἢ τοῦτο.

dimítte me ut cónteram eum, et déleam nomen eius de sub cælo, et constítuam te super gentem, quæ hac maior et fórtior sit.

הרף ממני ואשׁמידם ואמחה את שׁמם מתחת השׁמים ואעשׂה אתך לגוי־עצום ורב ממנו
14
Let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under heaven: and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they.

וָאֵ֗פֶן וָֽאֵרֵד֙ מִן הָ־הָ֔ר וְהָהָ֖ר בֹּעֵ֣ר בָּאֵ֑שׁ וּשְׁנֵי֙ לֻחֹ֣ת הַבְּרִ֔ית עַ֖ל שְׁתֵּ֥י יָדָֽי׃
15
καὶ ἐπιστρέψας κατέβην ἐκ τοῦ ὄρους, καὶ τὸ ὄρος ἐκαίετο πυρὶ ἕως τοῦ οὐρανοῦ, καὶ αἱ δύο πλάκες ἐπὶ ταῖς δυσὶ χερσίν μου.

Cumque de monte ardénte descénderem, et duas tábulas fœ́deris utráque tenérem manu,

ואפנה וארדה מן ההר וההר בער באשׁ ושׁני לוחת הברית על שׁתי ידי

So I turned and came down from the mount, and the mount burned with fire: and the two tables of the covenant [were] in my two hands.
