וַתֵּ֣רֶא רָחֵ֗ל כִּ֣י לֹ֤א יָֽלְדָה֙ לְיַעֲקֹ֔ב וַתְּקַנֵּ֥א רָחֵ֖ל בַּאֲחֹתָ֑הּ וַתֹּ֤אמֶר אֶֽל־יַעֲקֹב֙ הָֽבָה לִּ֣־י בָנִ֔ים וְאִם־אַ֖יִן מֵתָ֥ה אָנֹֽכִי׃

Ἰδοῦσα δὲ Ῥαχὴλ ὅτι οὐ τέτοκεν τῷ Ἰακώβ, καὶ ἐζήλωσεν Ῥαχὴλ τὴν ἀδελφὴν αὐτῆς, καὶ εἶπεν τῷ Ἰακώβ Δός μοι τέκνα · εἰ δὲ μή, τελευτήσω ἐγώ.

Cernens autem Rachel quod infecúnda esset, invídit soróri suæ, et ait maríto suo: Da mihi líberos, alióquin móriar.

ותרא רחל כי לא ילדה ליעקב ותקנא רחל באחותה ותאמר אל־יעקב הבה לי בנים ואם־אין מתה אנכי

And when Rachel saw that she bare Jacob no children, Rachel envied her sister; and said unto Jacob, Give me children, or else I die.

וַיִּֽחַר־אַ֥ף יַעֲקֹ֖ב בְּרָחֵ֑ל וַיֹּ֗אמֶר הֲתַ֤חַת אֱלֹהִים֙ אָנֹ֔כִי אֲשֶׁר־מָנַ֥ע מִמֵּ֖ךְ פְּרִי־בָֽטֶן׃

ἐθυμώθη δὲ Ἰακὼβ τῇ Ῥαχὴλ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῇ Μὴ ἀντὶ τοῦ θεοῦ ἐγώ εἰμι, ὃς ἐστέρησέν σε καρπὸν κοιλίας;

Cui irátus respóndit Iacob: Num pro Deo ego sum, qui privávit te fructu ventris tui?

ויחר־אף יעקב ברחל ויאמר התחת אלהים אנכי אשׁר־מנע ממעיך פרי־בטן

And Jacob ’s anger was kindled against Rachel: and he said, [Am] I in God ’s stead, who hath withheld from thee the fruit of the womb?

וַתֹּ֕אמֶר הִנֵּ֛ה אֲמָתִ֥י בִלְהָ֖ה בֹּ֣א אֵלֶ֑יהָ וְתֵלֵד֙ עַל בִּרְכַּ֔־י וְאִבָּנֶ֥ה גַם־אָנֹכִ֖י מִמֶּֽנָּה׃

εἶπεν δὲ Ῥαχὴλ τῷ Ἰακώβ Ἰδοὺ ἡ παιδίσκη μου Βάλλα, εἴσελθε πρὸς αὐτήν · καὶ τέξεται ἐπὶ τῶν γονάτων μου, ἵνα τεκνοποιήσωμαι κἀγὼ ἐξ αὐτῆς.

At illa: Hábeo, inquit, fámulam Balam: ingrédere ad illam, ut páriat super génua mea, et hábeam ex illa fílios.

ותאמר הנה אמתי בלהה בא אליה ותלד על ברכי ואבנה גם־אנכי ממנה

And she said, Behold my maid Bilhah, go in unto her; and she shall bear upon my knees, that I may also have children by her.

καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτῷ Βάλλαν τὴν παιδίσκην αὐτῆς αὐτῷ γυναῖκα, καὶ εἰσῆλθεν πρὸς αὐτὴν Ἰακώβ ·

καὶ εἶπεν Ῥαχήλ Ἔκρινέν μοι ὁ θεὸς καὶ ἐπήκουσεν τῆς φωνῆς μου καὶ ἔδωκέν μοι υἱόν · διὰ τοῦτο ἐκάλεσεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Δάν.

Dixítque Rachel: Iudicávit mihi Dóminus, et exaudívit vocem meam, dans mihi fílium, et idcírco appellávit nomen eius Dan.

ותאמר רחל דנני אלהים וגם שׁמע בקולי ויתן לי בן על־כן קראה שׁמו דן

And Rachel said, God hath judged me, and hath also heard my voice, and hath given me a son: therefore called she his name Dan.

καὶ εἶπεν Ῥαχήλ Συνεβάλετό μοι ὁ θεός, καὶ συνανεστράφην τῇ ἀδελφῇ μου καὶ ἠδυνάσθην · καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Νεφθαλεί.

וַתֵּ֣רֶא לֵאָ֔ה כִּ֥י עָמְדָ֖ה מִלֶּ֑דֶת וַתִּקַּח֙ אֶת־זִלְפָּ֣ה שִׁפְחָתָ֔הּ וַתִּתֵּ֥ן אֹתָ֛הּ לְיַעֲקֹ֖ב לְאִשָּֽׁה׃

ἴδεν δὲ Λεία ὅτι ἔστη τοῦ τίκτειν, καὶ ἔλαβεν Ζέλφαν τὴν παιδίσκην αὐτῆς καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτὴν τῷ Ἰακὼβ γυναῖκα.

καὶ εἶπεν Λεία Μακαρία ἐγώ, ὅτι μακαρίζουσίν με πᾶσαι αἱ γυναῖκες · καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ἀσήρ.

Dixítque Lia: Hoc pro beatitúdine mea: beátam quippe me dicent mulíeres: proptérea appellávit eum Aser.

ותאמר לאה באשׁרי כי אשׁרוני בנות ותקרא את שׁמו אשׁר

וַיֵּ֨לֶךְ רְאוּבֵ֜ן בִּימֵ֣י קְצִיר־חִטִּ֗ים וַיִּמְצָ֤א דֽוּדָאִים֙ בַּשָּׂדֶ֔ה וַיָּבֵ֣א אֹתָ֔ם אֶל־לֵאָ֖ה אִמּ֑וֹ וַתֹּ֤אמֶר רָחֵל֙ אֶל־לֵאָ֔ה תְּנִי־נָ֣א לִ֔י מִדּוּדָאֵ֖י בְּנֵֽךְ׃

ἐπορεύθη δὲ Ῥουβὴν ἐν ἡμέραις θερισμοῦ πυρῶν καὶ εὗρεν μῆλα μανδραγόρου ἐν τῷ ἀγρῷ, καὶ ἤνεγκεν αὐτὰ πρὸς Λείαν τὴν μητέρα αὐτοῦ · εἶπεν δὲ Ῥαχὴλ τῇ Λείᾳ Δός μοι τῶν μανδραγορῶν τοῦ υἱοῦ σου.

Egréssus autem Ruben témpore messis tritíceæ in agrum, réperit mandrágoras, quas matri Liæ détulit. Dixítque Rachel: Da mihi partem de mandrágoris fílii tui.

וילך ראובן בימי קציר־חטים וימצא דודים בשׂדה ויבא אתם אל־לאה אמו ותאמר רחל אל־לאה תני־נא לי מדודי בניך

And Reuben went in the days of wheat harvest, and found mandrakes in the field, and brought them unto his mother Leah. Then Rachel said to Leah, Give me, I pray thee, of thy son ’s mandrakes.

וַתֹּ֣אמֶר לָ֗הּ הַמְעַט֙ קַחְתֵּ֣ךְ אֶת אִישִׁ֔־י וְלָקַ֕חַת גַּ֥ם אֶת־דּוּדָאֵ֖י בְּנִ֑י וַתֹּ֣אמֶר רָחֵ֗ל לָכֵן֙ יִשְׁכַּ֤ב עִמָּךְ֙ הַלַּ֔יְלָה תַּ֖חַת דּוּדָאֵ֥י בְנֵֽךְ׃

εἶπεν δὲ Λεία Οὐχ ἱκανόν σοι ὅτι ἔλαβες τὸν ἄνδρα μου; μὴ καὶ τοὺς μανδραγόρας τοῦ υἱοῦ μου λήμψῃ; εἶπεν δὲ Ῥαχήλ Οὐχ οὕτως · κοιμηθήτω μετὰ σοῦ τὴν νύκτα ταύτην ἀντὶ τῶν μανδραγορῶν τοῦ υἱοῦ σου.

Illa respóndit: Parúmne tibi vidétur quod præripúeris marítum mihi, nisi étiam mandrágoras fílii mei túleris? Ait Rachel: Dórmiat tecum hac nocte pro mandrágoris fílii tui.

ותאמר לה המעט קחתיך את אישׁי ולקחתי גם את דודי בני ותאמר רחל לכן ישׁכב עמיך הלילה תחת דודי בניך

And she said unto her, [Is it] a small matter that thou hast taken my husband? and wouldest thou take away my son ’s mandrakes also? And Rachel said, Therefore he shall lie with thee to night for thy son ’s mandrakes.

וַיָּבֹ֨א יַעֲקֹ֣ב מִן הַ־שָּׂדֶה֮ בָּעֶרֶב֒ וַתֵּצֵ֨א לֵאָ֜ה לִקְרָאת֗וֹ וַתֹּ֨אמֶר֙ אֵלַ֣י תָּב֔וֹא כִּ֚י שָׂכֹ֣ר שְׂכַרְתִּ֔יךָ בְּדוּדָאֵ֖י בְּנִ֑י וַיִּשְׁכַּ֥ב עִמָּ֖הּ בַּלַּ֥יְלָה הֽוּא׃

εἰσῆλθεν δὲ Ἰακὼβ ἐξ ἀγροῦ ἑσπέρας, καὶ ἐξῆλθεν Λεία εἰς συνάντησιν αὐτῷ καὶ εἶπεν Πρὸς ἐμὲ εἰσελεύσῃ σήμερον · μεμίσθωμαι γάρ σε ἀντὶ τῶν μανδραγορῶν τοῦ υἱοῦ μου · καὶ ἐκοιμήθη μετ᾽ αὐτῆς τὴν νύκτα ἐκείνην.

Redeuntíque ad vésperam Iacob de agro, egréssa est in occúrsum eius Lia, et ad me, inquit, intrábis: quia mercéde condúxi te pro mandrágoris fílii mei. Dormivítque cum ea nocte illa.

ויבא יעקב מן השׂדה בערב ותצא לאה לקראתו ותאמר אלי תבוא הלילה כי שׂכר שׂכרתיך בדודי בני וישׁכב עמה בלילה ההוא

And Jacob came out of the field in the evening, and Leah went out to meet him, and said, Thou must come in unto me; for surely I have hired thee with my son ’s mandrakes. And he lay with her that night.

וַיִּשְׁמַ֥ע אֱלֹהִ֖ים אֶל־לֵאָ֑ה וַתַּ֛הַר וַתֵּ֥לֶד לְיַעֲקֹ֖ב בֵּ֥ן חֲמִישִֽׁי׃

καὶ ἐπήκουσεν αὐτῆς ὁ θεός, καὶ συλλαβοῦσα ἔτεκεν τῷ Ἰακὼβ υἱόν πέμπτον.

Et exaudívit Deus preces eius, concepítque et péperit fílium quintum,

וישׁמע אלהים אל־לאה ותהר ותלד ליעקב בן חמישׁי

And God hearkened unto Leah, and she conceived, and bare Jacob the fifth son.

וַתֹּ֣אמֶר לֵאָ֗ה נָתַ֤ן אֱלֹהִים֙ שְׂכָרִ֔י אֲשֶׁר־נָתַ֥תִּי שִׁפְחָתִ֖י לְאִישִׁ֑י וַתִּקְרָ֥א שְׁמ֖וֹ יִשָּׂשכָֽר׃

καὶ εἶπεν Λεία Δέδωκέν μοι ὁ θεὸς τὸν μισθόν μου ἀνθ᾽ ὧν ἔδωκα τὴν παιδίσκην μου τῷ ἀνδρί μου · καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ἰσσαχάρ, ὅ ἐστιν Μισθός.

et ait: Dedit Deus mercédem mihi, quia dedi ancíllam meam viro meo: appellavítque nomen eius Issachar.

ותאמר לאה נתן אלהים שׂכרי אשׁר־נתתי שׁפחתי לאישׁי ותקרא את שׁמו ישׂשׂכר

And Leah said, God hath given me my hire, because I have given my maiden to my husband: and she called his name Issachar.

וַתַּ֤הַר עוֹד֙ לֵאָ֔ה וַתֵּ֥לֶד בֵּן־שִׁשִּׁ֖י לְּיַעֲקֹֽב׃

καὶ συνέλαβεν ἔτι Λεία καὶ ἔτεκεν υἱὸν ἕκτον τῷ Ἰακώβ.

וַתֹּ֣אמֶר לֵאָ֗ה זְבָדַ֨נִי אֱלֹהִ֥ים ׀ אֹתִי֮ זֵ֣בֶד טוֹב֒ הַפַּ֨עַם֙ יִזְבְּלֵ֣נִי אִישִׁ֔י כִּֽי־יָלַ֥דְתִּי ל֖וֹ שִׁשָּׁ֣ה בָנִ֑ים וַתִּקְרָ֥א אֶת שְׁמ֖־וֹ זְבֻלֽוּן׃

καὶ εἶπεν Λεία Δεδώρηται ὁ θεός μοι δῶρον καλόν · ἐν τῷ νῦν καιρῷ αἱρετιεῖ με ὁ ἀνήρ μου, τέτοκα γὰρ αὐτῷ υἱοὺς ἕξ · καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ζαβουλών.

et ait: Dotávit me Deus dote bona: étiam hac vice mecum erit marítus meus, eo quod genúerim ei sex fílios: et idcírco appellávit nomen eius Zábulon.

ותאמר לאה זבדני אלהים אתי זבד טוב הפעם יזבלני אישׁי כי־ילדתי לו שׁשׁה בנים ותקרא את שׁמו זבולן

And Leah said, God hath endued me [with] a good dowry; now will my husband dwell with me, because I have born him six sons: and she called his name Zebulun.

וְאַחַ֖ר יָ֣לְדָה בַּ֑ת וַתִּקְרָ֥א אֶת שְׁמָ֖־הּ דִּינָֽה׃

καὶ μετὰ τοῦτο ἔτεκεν θυγατέρα, καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτῆς Δεινά. καὶ ἔστη τοῦ τίκτειν.

ἐμνήσθη δὲ ὁ θεὸς Ῥαχήλ · καὶ ἐπήκουσεν αὐτῆς ὁ θεός, καὶ ἀνέῳξεν αὐτῆς τὴν μήτραν ·

Recordátus quoque Dóminus Rachélis, exaudívit eam, et apéruit vulvam eius.

ויזכר אלהים את־רחל וישׁמע אליה אלהים ויפתח את רחמה

And God remembered Rachel, and God hearkened to her, and opened her womb.

καὶ συλλαβοῦσα ἔτεκεν τῷ Ἰακὼβ υἱόν. εἶπεν δὲ Ῥαχήλ Ἀφεῖλεν ὁ θεός μου τὸ ὄνειδος ·

Quæ concépit, et péperit fílium, dicens: Abstulit Deus oppróbrium meum.

ותהר ותלד בן ותאמר אסף אלהים את חרפתי

And she conceived, and bare a son; and said, God hath taken away my reproach:

καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ἰωσὴφ λέγουσα Προσθέτω ὁ θεός μοι υἱὸν ἕτερον.

Et vocávit nomen eius Ioseph, dicens: Addat mihi Dóminus fílium álterum.

ותקרא את שׁמו יוסף לאמר יסף יהוה לי בן אחר

And she called his name Joseph; and said, The LORD shall add to me another son.

וַיְהִ֕י כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר יָלְדָ֥ה רָחֵ֖ל אֶת־יוֹסֵ֑ף וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יַעֲקֹב֙ אֶל־לָבָ֔ן שַׁלְּחֵ֨נִי֙ וְאֵ֣לְכָ֔ה אֶל מְקוֹמִ֖־י וּלְאַרְצִֽי׃

Ἐγένετο δὲ ὡς ἔτεκεν Ῥαχὴλ τὸν Ἰωσήφ, εἶπεν Ἰακὼβ τῷ Λαβάν Ἀπόστειλόν με ἵνα ἀπέλθω εἰς τὸν τόπον μου καὶ εἰς τὴν γῆν μου.

Nato autem Ioseph, dixit Iacob sócero suo: Dimítte me ut revértar in pátriam, et ad terram meam.

ויהי כאשׁר ילדה רחל את־יוסף ויאמר יעקב אל־לבן שׁלחני ואלכה אל מקומי ואל ארצי

And it came to pass, when Rachel had born Joseph, that Jacob said unto Laban, Send me away, that I may go unto mine own place, and to my country.

וְעָֽנְתָה בִּ֤־י צִדְקָתִי֙ בְּי֣וֹם מָחָ֔ר כִּֽי־תָב֥וֹא עַל שְׂכָרִ֖־י לְפָנֶ֑יךָ כֹּ֣ל אֲשֶׁר אֵינֶ־נּוּ֩ נָקֹ֨ד וְטָל֜וּא בָּֽעִזִּ֗ים וְחוּם֙ בַּכְּשָׂבִ֔ים גָּנ֥וּב ה֖וּא אִתִּֽי׃

καὶ ἐπακούσεταί μοι ἡ δικαιοσύνη μου ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ αὔριον, ὅτι ἐστὶν ὁ μισθός μου ἐνώπιόν σου · πᾶν ὃ ἐὰν μὴ ᾖ ῥαντὸν καὶ διάλευκον ἐν ταῖς αἰξὶν καὶ φαιὸν ἐν τοῖς ἄρνασιν, κεκλεμμένον ἔσται παρ᾽ ἐμοί.

Et separávit in die illa capras, et oves, et hircos, et aríetes vários, atque maculósos: cunctum autem gregem unicolórem, id est albi, et nigri vélleris, trádidit in manu filiórum suórum.

Tollens ergo Iacob virgas popúleas vírides, et amygdálinas, et ex plátanis, ex parte decorticávit eas: detractísque cortícibus, in his, quæ spoliáta fúerant, candor appáruit: illa vero quæ íntegra fúerant, virídia permansérunt: atque in hunc modum color efféctus est várius.

καὶ παρέθηκεν τὰς ῥάβδους ἃς ἐλέπισεν ἐν ταῖς ληνοῖς τῶν ποτιστηρίων τοῦ ὕδατος, ἵνα ὡς ἂν ἔλθωσιν τὰ πρόβατα πιεῖν, ἐνώπιον τῶν ῥάβδων καὶ ἐλθόντων αὐτῶν εἰς τὸ πιεῖν, ἐνκισσήσωσιν τὰ πρόβατα εἰς τὰς ῥάβδους.

τοὺς δὲ ἀμνοὺς διέστειλεν Ἰακώβ, καὶ ἔστησεν ἐναντίον τῶν προβάτων κριὸν διάλευκον καὶ πᾶν ποικίλον ἐν τοῖς ἀμνοῖς · καὶ διεχώρισεν ἑαυτῷ ποίμνια καθ᾽ ἑαυτόν, καὶ οὐκ ἔμιξεν αὐτὰ εἰς τὰ πρόβατα Λαβάν.

And Jacob did separate the lambs, and set the faces of the flocks toward the ringstraked, and all the brown in the flock of Laban; and he put his own flocks by themselves, and put them not unto Laban ’s cattle.
