וַיִּשָּׂ֨א יַעֲקֹ֜ב עֵינָ֗יו וַיַּרְא֙ וְהִנֵּ֣ה עֵשָׂ֣ו בָּ֔א וְעִמּ֕וֹ אַרְבַּ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת אִ֑ישׁ וַיַּ֣חַץ אֶת הַ־יְלָדִ֗ים עַל־לֵאָה֙ וְעַל־רָחֵ֔ל וְעַ֖ל שְׁתֵּ֥י הַשְּׁפָחֽוֹת׃

Ἀναβλέψας δὲ Ἰακὼβ ἴδεν, καὶ ἰδοὺ Ἠσαὺ ὁ ἀδελφὸς αὐτοῦ ἐρχόμενος, αὐτὸς καὶ τετρακόσιοι ἄνδρες μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ · καὶ ἐπιδιεῖλεν Ἰακὼβ τὰ παιδία ἐπὶ Λείαν καὶ ἐπὶ Ῥαχὴλ καὶ τὰς δύο παιδίσκας ·

Elevans autem Iacob óculos suos, vidit veniéntem Esau, et cum eo quadringéntos viros: divisítque fílios Liæ et Rachel, ambarúmque famulárum:

וישׂא יעקב עיניו וירא והנה עשׂו בא ועמו ארבע מאות אישׁ ויחץ את הילדים על־לאה ועל־רחל ועל שׁתי השׁפחות

And Jacob lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, Esau came, and with him four hundred men. And he divided the children unto Leah, and unto Rachel, and unto the two handmaids.

וַיָּ֧שֶׂם אֶת הַ־שְּׁפָח֛וֹת וְאֶת יַלְדֵי־הֶ֖ן רִֽאשֹׁנָ֑ה וְאֶת־לֵאָ֤ה וִֽילָדֶ֨יהָ֙ אַחֲרֹנִ֔ים וְאֶת־רָחֵ֥ל וְאֶת־יוֹסֵ֖ף אַחֲרֹנִֽים׃

καὶ ἐποίησεν τὰς δύο παιδίσκας καὶ τοὺς υἱοὺς αὐτῶν ἐν πρώτοις, καὶ Λείαν καὶ τὰ παιδία αὐτῆς ὀπίσω, καὶ Ῥαχὴλ καὶ Ἰωσὴφ ἐσχάτους.

et pósuit utrámque ancíllam, et líberos eárum, in princípio: Liam vero, et fílios eius, in secúndo loco: Rachel autem et Ioseph novíssimos.

וישׂם את השׁפחות ואת ילדיהן ראישׁונה ואת־לאה וילדיה אחרנים ואת־רחל ואת־יוסף אחרנים

And he put the handmaids and their children foremost, and Leah and her children after, and Rachel and Joseph hindermost.

וְה֖וּא עָבַ֣ר לִפְנֵיהֶ֑ם וַיִּשְׁתַּ֤חוּ אַ֨רְצָה֙ שֶׁ֣בַע פְּעָמִ֔ים עַד גִּשְׁתּ֖־וֹ עַד אָחִֽי־ו׃

αὐτὸς δὲ παρῆλθεν ἔμπροσθεν αὐτῶν · καὶ προσεκύνησεν ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν ἑπτάκις ἕως τοῦ ἐγγίσαι τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ αὐτοῦ.

Et ipse progrédiens adorávit pronus in terram sépties, donec appropinquáret frater eius.

והוא עבר לפניהם וישׁתחוי ארצה שׁבע פעמים עד גשׁתו עד אחיו

And he passed over before them, and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother.

וַיָּ֨רָץ עֵשָׂ֤ו לִקְרָאתוֹ֙ וַֽיְחַבְּקֵ֔הוּ וַיִּפֹּ֥ל עַל צַוָּארָ֖־ו וַׄיִּׄשָּׁׄקֵ֑ׄהׄוּׄ וַיִּבְכּֽוּ׃

καὶ προσέδραμεν Ἠσαὺ εἰς συνάντησιν αὐτῷ, καὶ περιλαβὼν αὐτὸν ἐφίλησεν καὶ προσέπεσεν ἐπὶ τὸν τράχηλον αὐτοῦ · καὶ ἔκλαυσαν ἀμφότεροι.

Currens ítaque Esau óbviam fratri suo, amplexátus est eum: stringénsque collum eius, et ósculans flevit.

וירץ עשׂו לקראתו ויחבקהו ויפל על צוארו וישׁקהו ויבכו

And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him: and they wept.

וַיִּשָּׂ֣א אֶת עֵינָ֗י־ו וַיַּ֤רְא אֶת הַ־נָּשִׁים֙ וְאֶת הַ־יְלָדִ֔ים וַיֹּ֖אמֶר מִי־אֵ֣לֶּה לָּ֑ךְ וַיֹּאמַ֕ר הַיְלָדִ֕ים אֲשֶׁר־חָנַ֥ן אֱלֹהִ֖ים אֶת עַבְדֶּֽ־ךָ׃

καὶ ἀναβλέψας ἴδεν τὰς γυναῖκας καὶ τὰ παιδία, καὶ εἶπεν Τί ταῦτά σοί ἐστιν; ὁ δὲ εἶπεν Τὰ παιδία οἷς ἠλέησεν ὁ θεὸς τὸν παῖδά σου.

Levatísque óculis, vidit mulíeres et párvulos eárum, et ait: Quid sibi volunt isti? et si ad te pértinent? Respóndit: Párvuli sunt, quos donávit mihi Deus servo tuo.

וישׂא עיניו וירא את הנשׁים ואת הילדים ויאמר מי־אלה לך ויאמר הילדים אשׁר־חנן אלהים את עבדך

And he lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the children; and said, Who [are] those with thee? And he said, The children which God hath graciously given thy servant.

וַתִּגַּ֧שְׁןָ הַשְּׁפָח֛וֹת הֵ֥נָּה וְיַלְדֵיהֶ֖ן וַתִּֽשְׁתַּחֲוֶֽיןָ׃

καὶ προσήγγισαν αἱ παιδίσκαι καὶ τὰ παιδία αὐτῶν, καὶ προσεκύνησαν ·

Et appropinquántes ancíllæ et fílii eárum, incurváti sunt.

Then the handmaidens came near, they and their children, and they bowed themselves.

וַתִּגַּ֧שׁ גַּם־לֵאָ֛ה וִילָדֶ֖יהָ וַיִּֽשְׁתַּחֲו֑וּ וְאַחַ֗ר נִגַּ֥שׁ יוֹסֵ֛ף וְרָחֵ֖ל וַיִּֽשְׁתַּחֲוֽוּ׃

καὶ προσήγγισεν Λεία καὶ τὰ τέκνα αὐτῆς, καὶ προσεκύνησαν · καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα προσήγγισεν Ῥαχὴλ καὶ Ἰωσήφ, καὶ προσεκύνησαν.

Accéssit quoque Lia cum púeris suis: et cum simíliter adorássent, extrémi Ioseph et Rachel adoravérunt.

וַיֹּ֕אמֶר מִ֥י לְךָ֛ כָּל הַ־מַּחֲנֶ֥ה הַזֶּ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר פָּגָ֑שְׁתִּי וַיֹּ֕אמֶר לִמְצֹא־חֵ֖ן בְּעֵינֵ֥י אֲדֹנִֽי׃

καὶ εἶπεν Τί ταῦτά σοί ἐστιν, πᾶσαι αἱ παρεμβολαὶ αὗται αἷς ἀπήντηκα; ὁ δὲ εἶπεν Ἵνα εὕρῃ ὁ παῖς σου χάριν ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς σου, κύριε.

Dixítque Esau: Quænam sunt istæ turmæ quas óbviam hábui? Respóndit: Ut invenírem grátiam coram dómino meo.

ויאמר מי לך כל המחנה הזה אשׁר פגשׁתי ויאמר למצא־חן בעיני אדני
8
And he said, What [meanest] thou by all this drove which I met? And he said, [These are] to find grace in the sight of my lord.

וַיֹּ֥אמֶר עֵשָׂ֖ו יֶשׁ לִ֣־י רָ֑ב אָחִ֕י יְהִ֥י לְךָ֖ אֲשֶׁר לָֽ־ךְ׃

εἶπεν δὲ Ἠσαύ Ἔστιν μοι πολλά, ἀδελφέ · ἔστω σοι τὰ σά.

At ille ait: Hábeo plúrima, frater mi, sint tua tibi.

ויאמר עשׂו ישׁ לי רב אחי ויהי לך אשׁר לך

And Esau said, I have enough, my brother; keep that thou hast unto thyself.

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר יַעֲקֹ֗ב אַל־נָא֙ אִם־נָ֨א מָצָ֤אתִי חֵן֙ בְּעֵינֶ֔יךָ וְלָקַחְתָּ֥ מִנְחָתִ֖י מִיָּדִ֑י כִּ֣י עַל־כֵּ֞ן רָאִ֣יתִי פָנֶ֗יךָ כִּרְאֹ֛ת פְּנֵ֥י אֱלֹהִ֖ים וַתִּרְצֵֽנִי׃
10
εἶπεν δὲ Ἰακώβ Εἰ εὕρηκα χάριν ἐναντίον σου, δέξαι τὰ δῶρα διὰ τῶν ἐμῶν χειρῶν · ἕνεκεν τούτου ἴδον τὸ πρόσωπόν σου ὡς ἄν τις ἴδοι πρόσωπον θεοῦ, καὶ εὐδοκήσεις με ·

Dixítque Iacob: Noli ita, óbsecro: sed si invéni grátiam in óculis tuis, áccipe munúsculum de mánibus meis. Sic enim vidi fáciem tuam, quasi víderim vultum Dei: esto mihi propítius,

ויאמר יעקב אל־נא אם־נא מצאתי חן בעיניך ולקחת מנחתי מידי כי על־כן ראיתי פניך כראות פני אלהים ותרצני
10
And Jacob said, Nay, I pray thee, if now I have found grace in thy sight, then receive my present at my hand: for therefore I have seen thy face, as though I had seen the face of God, and thou wast pleased with me.

קַח־נָ֤א אֶת בִּרְכָתִ־י֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הֻבָ֣את לָ֔ךְ כִּֽי חַנַּ֥־נִי אֱלֹהִ֖ים וְכִ֣י יֶשׁ לִ־י־כֹ֑ל וַיִּפְצַר בּ֖־וֹ וַיִּקָּֽח׃
11
λάβε τὰς εὐλογίας μου ἃς ἤνεγκά σοι, ὅτι ἠλέησέν με ὁ θεὸς καὶ ἔστιν μοι πάντα. καὶ ἐβιάσατο αὐτόν, καὶ ἔλαβεν.

et súscipe benedictiónem quam áttuli tibi, et quam donávit mihi Deus tríbuens ómnia. Vix fratre compellénte, suscípiens,

קח־נא את ברכתי אשׁר הבאתי לך כי חנני אלהים וכי ישׁ לי כל ויפצר בו ויקח
11
Take, I pray thee, my blessing that is brought to thee; because God hath dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough. And he urged him, and he took [it].

וַיֹּ֖אמֶר נִסְעָ֣ה וְנֵלֵ֑כָה וְאֵלְכָ֖ה לְנֶגְדֶּֽךָ׃

καὶ εἶπεν Ἀπάραντες πορευθῶμεν ἐπ᾽ εὐθεῖαν.

ait: Gradiámur simul, eróque sócius itíneris tui.

ויאמר נסעה ונלכה ואלכה לנגדך
12
And he said, Let us take our journey, and let us go, and I will go before thee.

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלָ֗יו אֲדֹנִ֤י יֹדֵ֨עַ֙ כִּֽי הַ־יְלָדִ֣ים רַכִּ֔ים וְהַצֹּ֥אן וְהַבָּקָ֖ר עָל֣וֹת עָלָ֑י וּדְפָקוּם֙ י֣וֹם אֶחָ֔ד וָמֵ֖תוּ כָּל הַ־צֹּֽאן׃

εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ Ὁ κύριός μου γινώσκει ὅτι τὰ παιδία ἁπαλώτερα, καὶ τὰ πρόβατα καὶ αἱ βόες λοχεύονται ἐπ᾽ ἐμέ · ἐὰν οὖν καταδιώξω αὐτοὺς ἡμέραν μίαν, ἀποθανοῦνται πάντα τὰ κτήνη.

Dixítque Iacob: Nosti dómine mi quod párvulos hábeam téneros, et oves, et boves fœtas mecum: quas si plus in ambulándo fécero laboráre, moriéntur una die cuncti greges.

ויאמר אליו אדני ידע כי הילדים רכים והצאן והבקר אעלת עלי ודפקתים יום אחד ומתו כל הצאן
13
And he said unto him, My lord knoweth that the children [are] tender, and the flocks and herds with young [are] with me: and if men should overdrive them one day, all the flock will die.

יַעֲבָר־נָ֥א אֲדֹנִ֖י לִפְנֵ֣י עַבְדּ֑וֹ וַאֲנִ֞י אֶֽתְנָהֲלָ֣ה לְאִטִּ֗י לְרֶ֨גֶל הַמְּלָאכָ֤ה אֲשֶׁר לְפָנַ־י֙ וּלְרֶ֣גֶל הַיְלָדִ֔ים עַ֛ד אֲשֶׁר־אָבֹ֥א אֶל אֲדֹנִ֖־י שֵׂעִֽירָה׃

προελθάτω ὁ κύριός μου ἔμπροσθεν τοῦ παιδός · ἐγὼ δὲ ἐνισχύσω ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ κατὰ σχολὴν τῆς πορεύσεως τῆς ἐναντίον μου καὶ κατὰ πόδα τῶν παιδαρίων, ἕως τοῦ με ἐλθεῖν πρὸς τὸν κύριόν μου εἰς Σηείρ.

Præcédat dóminus meus ante servum suum: et ego sequar paulátim vestígia eius, sicut vídero párvulos meos posse, donec véniam ad dóminum meum in Seir.

יעבר־נא אדני לפני עבדו ואני אתנהלה לאטי לרגל המלאכה אשׁר לפני ולרגל הילדים עד אשׁר אבוא אל אדני שׂעירה
14
Let my lord, I pray thee, pass over before his servant: and I will lead on softly, according as the cattle that goeth before me and the children be able to endure, until I come unto my lord unto Seir.

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר עֵשָׂ֔ו אַצִּֽיגָה־נָּ֣א עִמְּךָ֔ מִן הָ־עָ֖ם אֲשֶׁ֣ר אִתִּ֑י וַיֹּ֨אמֶר֙ לָ֣מָּה זֶּ֔ה אֶמְצָא־חֵ֖ן בְּעֵינֵ֥י אֲדֹנִֽי׃

εἶπεν δὲ Ἠσαύ Καταλείψω μετὰ σοῦ ἀπὸ τοῦ λαοῦ τοῦ μετ᾽ ἐμοῦ. ὁ δὲ εἶπεν Ἵνα τί τοῦτο; ἱκανὸν ὅτι εὗρον χάριν ἐναντίον σου, κύριε.

Respóndit Esau: Oro te, ut de pópulo qui mecum est, saltem sócii remáneant viæ tuæ. Non est, inquit, necésse: hoc uno tantum indígeo, ut invéniam grátiam in conspéctu tuo dómine mi.

ויאמר עשׂו אציגה־נא עמך מן העם אשׁר אתי ויאמר למה זה אמצא־חן בעיני אדני

And Esau said, Let me now leave with thee [some] of the folk that [are] with me. And he said, What needeth it? let me find grace in the sight of my lord.

וַיָּשָׁב֩ בַּיּ֨וֹם הַה֥וּא עֵשָׂ֛ו לְדַרְכּ֖וֹ שֵׂעִֽירָה׃

ἀπέστρεψεν δὲ Ἠσαὺ ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ εἰς τὴν ὁδὸν αὐτοῦ εἰς Σηείρ.

Revérsus est ítaque illo die Esau itínere quo vénerat in Seir.

So Esau returned that day on his way unto Seir.

וְיַעֲקֹב֙ נָסַ֣ע סֻכֹּ֔תָה וַיִּ֥בֶן ל֖וֹ בָּ֑יִת וּלְמִקְנֵ֨הוּ֙ עָשָׂ֣ה סֻכֹּ֔ת עַל־כֵּ֛ן קָרָ֥א שֵׁם הַ־מָּק֖וֹם סֻכּֽוֹת׃ ס

καὶ Ἰακὼβ ἀπαίρει εἰς Σκηνάς · καὶ ἐποίησεν αὐτῷ ἐκεῖ οἰκίας, καὶ τοῖς κτήνεσιν αὐτοῦ ἐποίησεν σκηνάς · διὰ τοῦτο ἐκάλεσεν τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ τόπου ἐκείνου Σκηναί.

Et Iacob venit in Socoth: ubi ædificáta domo et fixis tentóriis appellávit nomen loci illíus Socoth, id est, Tabernácula.

ויעקב נסע סכותה ויבן לו בית ולמקנהו עשׂה סכות על־כן קרא שׁם המקום סכות
17
And Jacob journeyed to Succoth, and built him an house, and made booths for his cattle: therefore the name of the place is called Succoth.

וַיָּבֹא֩ יַעֲקֹ֨ב שָׁלֵ֜ם עִ֣יר שְׁכֶ֗ם אֲשֶׁר֙ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ כְּנַ֔עַן בְּבֹא֖וֹ מִפַּדַּ֣ן אֲרָ֑ם וַיִּ֖חַן אֶת־פְּנֵ֥י הָעִֽיר׃

Καὶ ἦλθεν Ἰακὼβ εἰς Σαλὴμ πόλιν Σικίμων, ἥ ἐστιν ἐν γῇ Χανάαν, ὅτε ἦλθεν ἐκ τῆς Μεσοποταμίας Συρίας · καὶ παρενέβαλεν κατὰ πρόσωπον τῆς πόλεως.

Transivítque in Salem urbem Sichimórum, quæ est in terra Chánaan, postquam revérsus est de Mesopotámia Sýriæ: et habitávit iuxta óppidum.

ויבא יעקב שׁלום עיר שׁכם אשׁר בארץ כנען בבאו מפדן ארם ויחן את־פני העיר

And Jacob came to Shalem, a city of Shechem, which [is] in the land of Canaan, when he came from Padanaram; and pitched his tent before the city.

καὶ ἐκτήσατο τὴν μερίδα τοῦ ἀγροῦ, οὗ ἔστησεν ἐκεῖ τὴν σκηνὴν αὐτοῦ, παρὰ Ἐμμὼρ πατρὸς Συχὲμ ἑκατὸν ἀμνῶν ·

Emítque partem agri, in qua fíxerat tabernácula, a fíliis Hemor patris Sichem centum agnis.

ויקן את־חלקת השׂדה אשׁר נטה־שׁם אהלו מיד בני־חמור אבי שׁכם במאה קשׂיטה

And he bought a parcel of a field, where he had spread his tent, at the hand of the children of Hamor, Shechem ’s father, for an hundred pieces of money.

καὶ ἔστησεν ἐκεῖ θυσιαστήριον καὶ ἐπεκαλέσατο τὸν θεὸν Ἰσραήλ.

Et erécto ibi altári, invocávit super illud fortíssimum Deum Israel.

ויצב־שׁם מזבח ויקרא לו אל אלהי ישׂראל

And he erected there an altar, and called it EleloheIsrael.
