וַיְהִ֕י מִקֵּ֖ץ שְׁנָתַ֣יִם יָמִ֑ים וּפַרְעֹ֣ה חֹלֵ֔ם וְהִנֵּ֖ה עֹמֵ֥ד עַל הַ־יְאֹֽר׃

Ἐγένετο δὲ μετὰ δύο ἔτη ἡμερῶν Φαραὼ ἴδεν ἐνύπνιον. ᾤετο ἑστάναι ἐπὶ τοῦ ποταμοῦ,

Post duos annos vidit Phárao sómnium. Putábat se stare super flúvium,

ויהי מקץ שׁנתים ימים ופרעה חלם והנה עמד על היאר
1
And it came to pass at the end of two full years, that Pharaoh dreamed: and, behold, he stood by the river.

וְהִנֵּ֣ה מִן הַ־יְאֹ֗ר עֹלֹת֙ שֶׁ֣בַע פָּר֔וֹת יְפ֥וֹת מַרְאֶ֖ה וּבְרִיאֹ֣ת בָּשָׂ֑ר וַתִּרְעֶ֖ינָה בָּאָֽחוּ׃

καὶ ἰδοὺ ὥσπερ ἐκ τοῦ ποταμοῦ ἀνέβαινον ἑπτὰ βόες καλαὶ τῷ εἴδει καὶ ἐκλεκταὶ ταῖς σαρξίν, καὶ ἐβόσκοντο ἐν τῷ ἄχει ·

de quo ascendébant septem boves, pulchræ et crassæ nimis: et pascebántur in locis palústribus.

והנה מן היאר עלות שׁבע פרות יפות מראה ובריות בשׂר ותריענה באחו
2
And, behold, there came up out of the river seven well favoured kine and fatfleshed; and they fed in a meadow.

וְהִנֵּ֞ה שֶׁ֧בַע פָּר֣וֹת אֲחֵר֗וֹת עֹל֤וֹת אַחֲרֵיהֶן֙ מִן הַ־יְאֹ֔ר רָע֥וֹת מַרְאֶ֖ה וְדַקּ֣וֹת בָּשָׂ֑ר וַֽתַּעֲמֹ֛דְנָה אֵ֥צֶל הַפָּר֖וֹת עַל־שְׂפַ֥ת הַיְאֹֽר׃
3
ἄλλαι δὲ ἑπτὰ βόες ἀνέβαινον μετὰ ταύτας ἐκ τοῦ ποταμοῦ, αἰσχραὶ τῷ εἴδει καὶ λεπταὶ ταῖς σαρξίν, καὶ ἐνέμοντο αἱ βόες παρὰ τὸ χεῖλος τοῦ ποταμοῦ ἐν τῷ ἄχει ·

Aliæ quoque septem emergébant de flúmine, fœdæ confectǽque mácie: et pascebántur in ipsa amnis ripa in locis viréntibus:

והנה שׁבע פרות אחרות עלות אחריהן מן היאר רעות מראה ורקות בשׂר ותעמדנה אצל הפרות על־שׂפת היאר
3
And, behold, seven other kine came up after them out of the river, ill favoured and leanfleshed; and stood by the [other] kine upon the brink of the river.

וַתֹּאכַ֣לְנָה הַפָּר֗וֹת רָע֤וֹת הַמַּרְאֶה֙ וְדַקֹּ֣ת הַבָּשָׂ֔ר אֵ֚ת שֶׁ֣בַע הַפָּר֔וֹת יְפֹ֥ת הַמַּרְאֶ֖ה וְהַבְּרִיאֹ֑ת וַיִּיקַ֖ץ פַּרְעֹֽה׃

καὶ κατέφαγον αἱ ἑπτὰ βόες αἱ αἰσχραὶ καὶ λεπταὶ ταῖς σαρξὶν τὰς ἑπτὰ βόας τὰς καλὰς τῷ εἴδει καὶ τὰς ἐκλεκτάς. ἠγέρθη δὲ Φαραώ.

devoraverúntque eas, quarum mira spécies et habitúdo córporum erat. Expergefáctus Phárao,

ותאכלנה הפרות רעות המראה ורקות הבשׂר את שׁבע הפרות יפות המראה והבריות ויקץ פרעה
4
And the ill favoured and leanfleshed kine did eat up the seven well favoured and fat kine. So Pharaoh awoke.

וַיִּישָׁ֕ן וַֽיַּחֲלֹ֖ם שֵׁנִ֑ית וְהִנֵּ֣ה ׀ שֶׁ֣בַע שִׁבֳּלִ֗ים עֹל֛וֹת בְּקָנֶ֥ה אֶחָ֖ד בְּרִיא֥וֹת וְטֹבֽוֹת׃
5
καὶ ἐνυπνιάσθη τὸ δεύτερον · καὶ ἰδοὺ ἑπτὰ στάχυες ἀνέβαινον ἐν πυθμένι ἑνί, ἐκλεκτοὶ καὶ καλοί ·

rursum dormívit, et vidit álterum sómnium: septem spicæ pullulábant in culmo uno plenæ atque formósæ:

ויישׁן ויחלם שׁנית והנה שׁבע שׁבלים עלות בקנה אחד בריות וטובות
5
And he slept and dreamed the second time: and, behold, seven ears of corn came up upon one stalk, rank and good.

ἄλλοι δὲ ἑπτὰ στάχυες λεπτοὶ καὶ ἀνεμόφθοροι ἀνεφύοντο μετ᾽ αὐτούς ·

áliæ quoque tótidem spicæ ténues, et percússæ urédine oriebántur,

והנה שׁבע שׁבלים דקות ושׁדיפת קדים צמחות אחריהן

And, behold, seven thin ears and blasted with the east wind sprung up after them.

וַתִּבְלַ֨עְנָה֙ הַשִּׁבֳּלִ֣ים הַדַּקּ֔וֹת אֵ֚ת שֶׁ֣בַע הַֽשִּׁבֳּלִ֔ים הַבְּרִיא֖וֹת וְהַמְּלֵא֑וֹת וַיִּיקַ֥ץ פַּרְעֹ֖ה וְהִנֵּ֥ה חֲלֽוֹם׃

καὶ κατέπιον οἱ ἑπτὰ στάχυες οἱ λεπτοὶ καὶ ἀνεμόφθοροι τοὺς ἑπτὰ στάχυας τοὺς ἐκλεκτοὺς καὶ τοὺς πλήρεις. ἠγέρθη δὲ Φαραώ, καὶ ἦν ἐνύπνιον.

devorántes ómnium priórum pulchritúdinem. Evígilans Phárao post quiétem,

ותבלענה השׁבלים הדקות את שׁבע השׁבלים הבריות והמליות ויקץ פרעה והנה חלום

And the seven thin ears devoured the seven rank and full ears. And Pharaoh awoke, and, behold, [it was] a dream.

וַיְהִ֤י בַבֹּ֨קֶר֙ וַתִּפָּ֣עֶם רוּח֔וֹ וַיִּשְׁלַ֗ח וַיִּקְרָ֛א אֶת־כָּל־חַרְטֻמֵּ֥י מִצְרַ֖יִם וְאֶת־כָּל חֲכָמֶ֑י־הָ וַיְסַפֵּ֨ר פַּרְעֹ֤ה לָהֶם֙ אֶת חֲלֹמ֔־וֹ וְאֵין־פּוֹתֵ֥ר אוֹתָ֖ם לְפַרְעֹֽה׃

ἐγένετο δὲ πρωὶ καὶ ἐταράχθη ἡ ψυχὴ αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἀποστείλας ἐκάλεσεν πάντας τοὺς ἐξηγητὰς Αἰγύπτου καὶ πάντας τοὺς σοφοὺς αὐτῆς · καὶ διηγήσατο αὐτοῖς Φαραὼ τὸ ἐνύπνιον, καὶ οὐκ ἦν ὁ ἀπαγγέλλων αὐτὸ τῷ Φαραώ.

et facto mane, pavóre pertérritus, misit ad omnes coniectóres Ægýpti, cunctósque sapiéntes, et accersítis narrávit sómnium, nec erat qui interpretarétur.

ויהי בבקר ותפעם רוחו וישׁלח ויקרא את־כל־חרטמי מצרים ואת־כל חכמיה ויספר פרעה להם את חלמיו ואין פתר אתם לפרעה

And it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled; and he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt, and all the wise men thereof: and Pharaoh told them his dream; but [there was] none that could interpret them unto Pharaoh.

וַיְדַבֵּר֙ שַׂ֣ר הַמַּשְׁקִ֔ים אֶת־פַּרְעֹ֖ה לֵאמֹ֑ר אֶת חֲטָאַ֕־י אֲנִ֖י מַזְכִּ֥יר הַיּֽוֹם׃

καὶ ἐλάλησεν ὁ ἀρχιοινοχόος πρὸς Φαραὼ λέγων Τὴν ἁμαρτίαν μου ἀναμιμνήσκω σήμερον.

Tunc demum reminíscens pincernárum magíster, ait: Confíteor peccátum meum:

וידבר שׂר המשׁקים אל פרעה לאמר את חטאי אני מזכיר היום

Then spake the chief butler unto Pharaoh, saying, I do remember my faults this day:

פַּרְעֹ֖ה קָצַ֣ף עַל עֲבָדָ֑י־ו וַיִּתֵּ֨ן אֹתִ֜י בְּמִשְׁמַ֗ר בֵּ֚ית שַׂ֣ר הַטַּבָּחִ֔ים אֹתִ֕י וְאֵ֖ת שַׂ֥ר הָאֹפִֽים׃
10
Φαραὼ ὠργίσθη τοῖς παισὶν αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἔθετο ἡμᾶς ἐν φυλακῇ ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ τοῦ ἀρχιδεσμοφύλακος, ἐμέ τε καὶ τὸν ἀρχισιτοποιόν ·

irátus rex servis suis, me et magístrum pistórum retrúdi iussit in cárcerem príncipis mílitum:

פרעה קצף על עבדיו ויתן אתי במשׁמר בית שׂר הטבחים אתי ואת שׂר האפים
10
Pharaoh was wroth with his servants, and put me in ward in the captain of the guard ’s house, [both] me and the chief baker:

וַנַּֽחַלְמָ֥ה חֲל֛וֹם בְּלַ֥יְלָה אֶחָ֖ד אֲנִ֣י וָה֑וּא אִ֛ישׁ כְּפִתְר֥וֹן חֲלֹמ֖וֹ חָלָֽמְנוּ׃
11
καὶ ἴδομεν ἐνύπνιον ἐν νυκτὶ μιᾷ, ἐγὼ καὶ αὐτός · ἕκαστος κατὰ τὸ αὐτοῦ ἐνύπνιον ἴδομεν.

ubi una nocte utérque vídimus sómnium præságum futurórum.

ונחלם חלום בלילה אחד אני והוא אישׁ כפתרון חלמו חלמנו
11
And we dreamed a dream in one night, I and he; we dreamed each man according to the interpretation of his dream.

וְשָׁ֨ם אִתָּ֜נוּ נַ֣עַר עִבְרִ֗י עֶ֚בֶד לְשַׂ֣ר הַטַּבָּחִ֔ים וַנְּ֨סַפֶּר ל֔־וֹ וַיִּפְתָּר לָ֖־נוּ אֶת חֲלֹמֹתֵ֑י־נוּ אִ֥ישׁ כַּחֲלֹמ֖וֹ פָּתָֽר׃

ἦν δὲ ἐκεῖ μεθ᾽ ἡμῶν νεανίσκος παῖς Ἐβραῖος τοῦ ἀρχιμαγείρου, καὶ διηγησάμεθα αὐτῷ, καὶ συνέκρινεν ἡμῖν.

Erat ibi puer Hebrǽus, eiúsdem ducis mílitum fámulus: cui narrántes sómnia,

ושׁם אתנו נער עברי עבד לשׂר הטבחים ונספר לו ויפתר לנו את חלמתינו אישׁ כחלמו פתר
12
And [there was] there with us a young man, an Hebrew, servant to the captain of the guard; and we told him, and he interpreted to us our dreams; to each man according to his dream he did interpret.

וַיְהִ֛י כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר פָּֽתַר לָ֖־נוּ כֵּ֣ן הָיָ֑ה אֹתִ֛י הֵשִׁ֥יב עַל כַּנִּ֖־י וְאֹת֥וֹ תָלָֽה׃
13
ἐγενήθη δὲ καθὼς συνέκρινεν ἡμῖν, οὕτως καὶ συνέβη, ἐμέ τε ἀποκατασταθῆναι ἐπὶ τὴν ἀρχήν μου, ἐκεῖνον δὲ κρεμασθῆναι.

audívimus quidquid póstea rei probávit evéntus: ego enim rédditus sum offício meo, et ille suspénsus est in cruce.

ויהי כאשׁר פתר לנו כן היה אתי השׁיב על כני ואתו תלא
13
And it came to pass, as he interpreted to us, so it was; me he restored unto mine office, and him he hanged.

וַיִּשְׁלַ֤ח פַּרְעֹה֙ וַיִּקְרָ֣א אֶת־יוֹסֵ֔ף וַיְרִיצֻ֖הוּ מִן הַ־בּ֑וֹר וַיְגַלַּח֙ וַיְחַלֵּ֣ף שִׂמְלֹתָ֔יו וַיָּבֹ֖א אֶל־פַּרְעֹֽה׃

Ἀποστείλας δὲ Φαραὼ ἐκάλεσεν τὸν Ἰωσήφ, καὶ ἐξήγαγεν αὐτὸν ἐκ τοῦ ὀχυρώματος · καὶ ἐξύρησαν αὐτόν καὶ ἤλλαξαν τὴν στολὴν αὐτοῦ, καὶ ἦλθεν πρὸς Φαραώ.

וישׁלח פרעה ויקרא את־יוסף ויריצהו מן הבור ויגלח ויחלף שׂמלתיו ויבא אל־פרעה

Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon: and he shaved [himself], and changed his raiment, and came in unto Pharaoh.

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר פַּרְעֹה֙ אֶל־יוֹסֵ֔ף חֲל֣וֹם חָלַ֔מְתִּי וּפֹתֵ֖ר אֵ֣ין אֹת֑וֹ וַאֲנִ֗י שָׁמַ֤עְתִּי עָלֶ֨יךָ֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר תִּשְׁמַ֥ע חֲל֖וֹם לִפְתֹּ֥ר אֹתֽוֹ׃
15
εἶπεν δὲ Φαραὼ τῷ Ἰωσήφ Ἐνύπνιον ἑώρακα, καὶ ὁ συγκρίνων αὐτὸ οὐκ ἔστιν · ἐγὼ δὲ ἀκήκοα περὶ σοῦ λεγόντων, ἀκούσαντά σε ἐνύπνια συγκρῖναι αὐτά.

Cui ille ait: Vidi sómnia, nec est qui edísserat: quæ audívi te sapientíssime conícere.

ויאמר פרעה אל־יוסף חלום חלמתי ופתר אין אתו ואני שׁמעתי עליך לאמר התשׁמע חלום לפתר אתו
15
And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I have dreamed a dream, and [there is] none that can interpret it: and I have heard say of thee, [that] thou canst understand a dream to interpret it.

ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ Ἰωσὴφ τῷ Φαραὼ εἶπεν Ἄνευ τοῦ θεοῦ οὐκ ἀποκριθήσεται τὸ σωτήριον Φαραώ.

Respóndit Ioseph: Absque me Deus respondébit próspera Pharaóni.

ויען יוסף את־פרעה לאמר בלעדי אלהים לא יענה את־שׁלום פרעה

And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, [It is] not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace.

ἐλάλησεν δὲ Φαραὼ τῷ Ἰωσὴφ λέγων Ἐν τῷ ὕπνῳ μου ᾤμην ἑστάναι ἐπὶ τὸ χεῖλος τοῦ ποταμοῦ ·

Narrávit ergo Phárao quod víderat: Putábam me stare super ripam flúminis,

וידבר פרעה את יוסף בחלמי והנני עמד על־שׂפת היאר

And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, In my dream, behold, I stood upon the bank of the river:

καὶ ὥσπερ ἐκ τοῦ ποταμοῦ ἀνέβαινον ἑπτὰ βόες καλαὶ τῷ εἴδει καὶ ἐκλεκταὶ ταῖς σαρξίν, καὶ ἐνέμοντο ἐν τῷ ἄχει ·

et septem boves de amne conscéndere, pulchras nimis, et obésis cárnibus: quæ in pastu palúdis virécta carpébant.

והנה מן היאר עלות שׁבע פרות בריות בשׂר ויפות תאר ותריענה באחו
18
And, behold, there came up out of the river seven kine, fatfleshed and well favoured; and they fed in a meadow:

וְהִנֵּ֞ה שֶֽׁבַע־פָּר֤וֹת אֲחֵרוֹת֙ עֹל֣וֹת אַחֲרֵיהֶ֔ן דַּלּ֨וֹת וְרָע֥וֹת תֹּ֛אַר מְאֹ֖ד וְרַקּ֣וֹת בָּשָׂ֑ר לֹֽא־רָאִ֧יתִי כָהֵ֛נָּה בְּכָל־אֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרַ֖יִם לָרֹֽעַ׃
19
καὶ ἰδοὺ ἑπτὰ βόες ἕτεραι ἀνέβαινον ὀπίσω αὐτῶν ἐκ τοῦ ποταμοῦ πονηραὶ καὶ αἰσχραὶ τῷ εἴδει καὶ λεπταὶ ταῖς σαρξίν, καὶ ἐνέμοντο ἐν τῷ ἄχει · οἵας οὐκ εἶδον τοιαύτας ἐν ὅλῃ Αἰγύπτῳ αἰσχροτέρας ·
19
Et ecce, has sequebántur áliæ septem boves, in tantum defórmes et maciléntæ, ut numquam tales in terra Ægýpti víderim:
19
והנה שׁבע־פרות אחרות עלות אחריהן דלות ורעות תאר מאד ורקות בשׂר לא־ראיתי כהן בכל־ארץ מצרים לרע

And, behold, seven other kine came up after them, poor and very ill favoured and leanfleshed, such as I never saw in all the land of Egypt for badness:

וַתֹּאכַ֨לְנָה֙ הַפָּר֔וֹת הָרַקּ֖וֹת וְהָרָע֑וֹת אֵ֣ת שֶׁ֧בַע הַפָּר֛וֹת הָרִאשֹׁנ֖וֹת הַבְּרִיאֹֽת׃
20
καὶ κατέφαγον αἱ ἑπτὰ βόες αἱ αἰσχραὶ καὶ λεπταὶ τὰς ἑπτὰ βόας τὰς πρώτας τὰς καλὰς καὶ ἐκλεκτάς,
20
quæ, devorátis et consúmptis prióribus,
20
ותאכלנה הפרות הרקות והרעות את שׁבע הפרות הראישׁונות והבריות
20
And the lean and the ill favoured kine did eat up the first seven fat kine:

וַתָּבֹ֣אנָה אֶל קִרְבֶּ֗־נָה וְלֹ֤א נוֹדַע֙ כִּי־בָ֣אוּ אֶל קִרְבֶּ֔־נָה וּמַרְאֵיהֶ֣ן רַ֔ע כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר בַּתְּחִלָּ֑ה וָאִיקָֽץ׃
21
καὶ εἰσῆλθον εἰς τὰς κοιλίας αὐτῶν · καὶ οὐ διάδηλοι ἐγένοντο ὅτι εἰσῆλθον εἰς τὰς κοιλίας αὐτῶν, καὶ αἱ ὄψεις αὐτῶν αἰσχραὶ καθὰ καὶ τὴν ἀρχήν. ἐξεγερθεὶς δὲ ἐκοιμήθην.

And I saw in my dream, and, behold, seven ears came up in one stalk, full and good:

And, behold, seven ears, withered, thin, [and] blasted with the east wind, sprung up after them:

And the thin ears devoured the seven good ears: and I told [this] unto the magicians; but [there was] none that could declare [it] to me.

And there shall arise after them seven years of famine; and all the plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine shall consume the land;

And the plenty shall not be known in the land by reason of that famine following; for it [shall be] very grievous.

And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; [it is] because the thing [is] established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.

Now therefore let Pharaoh look out a man discreet and wise, and set him over the land of Egypt.

And that food shall be for store to the land against the seven years of famine, which shall be in the land of Egypt; that the land perish not through the famine.

Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou.

And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph ’s hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck;

וַיַּרְכֵּ֣ב אֹת֗וֹ בְּמִרְכֶּ֤בֶת הַמִּשְׁנֶה֙ אֲשֶׁר ל֔־וֹ וַיִּקְרְא֥וּ לְפָנָ֖יו אַבְרֵ֑ךְ וְנָת֣וֹן אֹת֔וֹ עַ֖ל כָּל־אֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃
