וַיָּבֹ֣א יוֹסֵף֮ וַיַּגֵּ֣ד לְפַרְעֹה֒ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר אָבִ֨י וְאַחַ֜י וְצֹאנָ֤ם וּבְקָרָם֙ וְכָל־אֲשֶׁ֣ר לָהֶ֔ם בָּ֖אוּ מֵאֶ֣רֶץ כְּנָ֑עַן וְהִנָּ֖ם בְּאֶ֥רֶץ גֹּֽשֶׁן׃

Ἐλθὼν δὲ Ἰωσὴφ ἀπήγγειλεν τῷ Φαραὼ λέγων Ὁ πατὴρ καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ καὶ τὰ κτήνη καὶ οἱ βόες αὐτῶν καὶ πάντα τὰ αὐτῶν ἦλθον ἐκ γῆς Χανάαν, καὶ ἰδού εἰσιν ἐν γῇ Γέσεμ.

Ingréssus ergo Ioseph nuntiávit Pharaóni, dicens: Pater meus et fratres, oves eórum et arménta, et cuncta quæ póssident, venérunt de terra Chánaan: et ecce consístunt in terra Gessen.

ויבא יוסף ויגד לפרעה ויאמר אליו אבי ואחי וצאנם ובקרם וכל־אשׁר להם באו מארץ כנען והנם בארץ גשׁן

Then Joseph came and told Pharaoh, and said, My father and my brethren, and their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have, are come out of the land of Canaan; and, behold, they [are] in the land of Goshen.

וּמִקְצֵ֣ה אֶחָ֔יו לָקַ֖ח חֲמִשָּׁ֣ה אֲנָשִׁ֑ים וַיַּצִּגֵ֖ם לִפְנֵ֥י פַרְעֹֽה׃

ἀπὸ δὲ τῶν ἀδελφῶν παρέλαβεν πέντε ἄνδρας καὶ ἔστησεν αὐτοὺς ἐναντίον Φαραώ.

Extrémos quoque fratrum suórum quinque viros constítuit coram rege:

ומקצה אחיו לקח עמו חמשׁה אנשׁים ויצגם לפני פרעה

And he took some of his brethren, [even] five men, and presented them unto Pharaoh.

וַיֹּ֧אמֶר פַּרְעֹ֛ה אֶל אֶחָ֖י־ו מַה מַּעֲשֵׂי־כֶ֑ם וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ אֶל־פַּרְעֹ֗ה רֹעֵ֥ה צֹאן֙ עֲבָדֶ֔יךָ גַּם־אֲנַ֖חְנוּ גַּם אֲבוֹתֵֽי־נוּ׃

καὶ εἶπεν Φαραὼ τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς Ἰωσήφ Τί τὸ ἔργον ὑμῶν; οἱ δὲ εἶπαν τῷ Φαραώ Ποιμένες προβάτων οἱ παῖδές σου, καὶ ἡμεῖς καὶ οἱ πατέρες ἡμῶν.

quos ille interrogávit: Quid habétis óperis? Respondérunt: Pastóres óvium sumus servi tui, et nos, et patres nostri.

ויאמר פרעה אל אחי יוסף מה מעשׂיכם ויאמרו אל־פרעה רעי צאן עבדיך גם־אנחנו גם אבתינו

And Pharaoh said unto his brethren, What [is] your occupation? And they said unto Pharaoh, Thy servants [are] shepherds, both we, [and] also our fathers.

וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ אֶל־פַּרְעֹ֗ה לָג֣וּר בָּאָרֶץ֮ בָּאנוּ֒ כִּי־אֵ֣ין מִרְעֶ֗ה לַצֹּאן֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לַעֲבָדֶ֔יךָ כִּֽי־כָבֵ֥ד הָרָעָ֖ב בְּאֶ֣רֶץ כְּנָ֑עַן וְעַתָּ֛ה יֵֽשְׁבוּ־נָ֥א עֲבָדֶ֖יךָ בְּאֶ֥רֶץ גֹּֽשֶׁן׃

εἶπαν δὲ τῷ Φαραώ Παροικεῖν ἐν τῇ γῇ ἥκαμεν · οὐ γάρ ἐστιν νομὴ τοῖς κτήνεσιν τῶν παίδων σου, ἐνίσχυσεν γὰρ ὁ λιμὸς ἐν γῇ Χανάαν · νῦν οὖν κατοικήσομεν ἐν γῇ Γέσεμ.

Ad peregrinándum in terra tua venímus: quóniam non est herba grégibus servórum tuórum, ingravescénte fame in terra Chánaan: petimúsque ut esse nos iúbeas servos tuos in terra Gessen.

ויאמרו אל־פרעה לגור בארץ באנו כי־אין מרעה לצאן אשׁר לעבדיך כי־כבד הרעב בארץ כנען ועתה ישׁבו־נא עבדיך בארץ גשׁן

They said moreover unto Pharaoh, For to sojourn in the land are we come; for thy servants have no pasture for their flocks; for the famine [is] sore in the land of Canaan: now therefore, we pray thee, let thy servants dwell in the land of Goshen.

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר פַּרְעֹ֔ה אֶל־יוֹסֵ֖ף לֵאמֹ֑ר אָבִ֥יךָ וְאַחֶ֖יךָ בָּ֥אוּ אֵלֶֽיךָ׃

εἶπεν δὲ Φαραὼ τῷ Ἰωσήφ Κατοικείτωσαν ἐν γῇ Γέσεμ · εἰ δὲ ἐπίστῃ ὅτι εἰσὶν ἐν αὐτοῖς ἄνδρες δυνατοί, κατάστησον αὐτοὺς ἄρχοντας τῶν ἐμῶν κτηνῶν. ἦλθον δὲ εἰς Αἴγυπτον πρὸς Ἰωσὴφ Ἰακὼβ καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτοῦ · καὶ ἤκουσεν Φαραὼ βασιλεὺς Αἰγύπτου. καὶ εἶπεν Φαραὼ πρὸς Ἰωσὴφ λέγων Ὁ πατήρ σου καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοί σου ἥκασι πρὸς σέ ·

אֶ֤רֶץ מִצְרַ֨יִם֙ לְפָנֶ֣יךָ הִ֔וא בְּמֵיטַ֣ב הָאָ֔רֶץ הוֹשֵׁ֥ב אֶת אָבִ֖י־ךָ וְאֶת אַחֶ֑י־ךָ יֵשְׁבוּ֙ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ גֹּ֔שֶׁן וְאִם־יָדַ֗עְתָּ וְיֶשׁ בָּ־ם֙ אַנְשֵׁי־חַ֔יִל וְשַׂמְתָּ֛ם שָׂרֵ֥י מִקְנֶ֖ה עַל־אֲשֶׁר לִֽ־י׃

ἰδοὺ ἡ γῆ Αἰγύπτου ἐναντίον σού ἐστιν · ἐν τῇ βελτίστῃ γῇ κατοίκισον τὸν πατέρα σου καὶ τοὺς ἀδελφούς σου.

Terra Ægýpti in conspéctu tuo est: in óptimo loco fac eos habitáre, et trade eis terram Gessen. Quod si nosti in eis esse viros indústrios, constítue illos magístros pécorum meórum.

ארץ מצרים לפניך היא במיטב הארץ הושׁב את אביך ואת אחיך ישׁבו בארץ גשׁן ואם־ידעת הישׁ בם אנשׁי־חיל ושׂמתם שׂרי מקנה על־אשׁר לי

The land of Egypt [is] before thee; in the best of the land make thy father and brethren to dwell; in the land of Goshen let them dwell: and if thou knowest [any] men of activity among them, then make them rulers over my cattle.

וַיָּבֵ֤א יוֹסֵף֙ אֶת־יַֽעֲקֹ֣ב אָבִ֔יו וַיַּֽעֲמִדֵ֖הוּ לִפְנֵ֣י פַרְעֹ֑ה וַיְבָ֥רֶךְ יַעֲקֹ֖ב אֶת־פַּרְעֹֽה׃

εἰσήγαγεν δὲ Ἰωσὴφ Ἰακὼβ τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔστησεν αὐτὸν ἐναντίον Φαραώ · καὶ εὐλόγησεν Ἰακὼβ τὸν Φαραώ.

Post hæc introdúxit Ioseph patrem suum ad regem, et státuit eum coram eo: qui benedícens illi,

ויבא יוסף את־יעקב אביו ויעמדהו לפני פרעה ויברך יעקב את־פרעה

And Joseph brought in Jacob his father, and set him before Pharaoh: and Jacob blessed Pharaoh.

וַיֹּ֥אמֶר פַּרְעֹ֖ה אֶֽל־יַעֲקֹ֑ב כַּמָּ֕ה יְמֵ֖י שְׁנֵ֥י חַיֶּֽיךָ׃

εἶπεν δὲ Φαραὼ τῷ Ἰακώβ Πόσα ἔτη ἡμερῶν τῆς ζωῆς σου;

et interrogátus ab eo: Quot sunt dies annórum vitæ tuæ?

ויאמר פרעה אל־יעקב כמה ימי שׁני חייך

And Pharaoh said unto Jacob, How old [art] thou?

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יַעֲקֹב֙ אֶל־פַּרְעֹ֔ה יְמֵי֙ שְׁנֵ֣י מְגוּרַ֔י שְׁלֹשִׁ֥ים וּמְאַ֖ת שָׁנָ֑ה מְעַ֣ט וְרָעִ֗ים הָיוּ֙ יְמֵי֙ שְׁנֵ֣י חַיַּ֔י וְלֹ֣א הִשִּׂ֗יגוּ אֶת־יְמֵי֙ שְׁנֵי֙ חַיֵּ֣י אֲבֹתַ֔י בִּימֵ֖י מְגוּרֵיהֶֽם׃

καὶ εἶπεν Ἰακὼβ τῷ Φαραώ Αἱ ἡμέραι τῶν ἐτῶν τῆς ζωῆς μου ἃς παροικῶ ἑκατὸν τριάκοντα ἔτη · μικραὶ καὶ πονηραὶ γεγόνασιν αἱ ἡμέραι τῶν ἐτῶν τῆς ζωῆς τῶν πατέρων μου, οὐκ ἀφίκοντο εἰς τὰς ἡμέρας τῶν ἐτῶν τῆς ζωῆς τῶν πατέρων μου, ἃς ἡμέρας παρῴκησαν.

respóndit: Dies peregrinatiónis meæ centum trigínta annórum sunt, parvi et mali, et non pervenérunt usque ad dies patrum meórum quibus peregrináti sunt.

ויאמר יעקב אל־פרעה ימי שׁני מגרי שׁלשׁים ומאת שׁנה מעט ורעים היו ימי שׁני חיי ולא השׂיגו את־ימי שׁני חיי אבותי בימי מגריהם

And Jacob said unto Pharaoh, The days of the years of my pilgrimage [are] an hundred and thirty years: few and evil have the days of the years of my life been, and have not attained unto the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage.

וַיְבָ֥רֶךְ יַעֲקֹ֖ב אֶת־פַּרְעֹ֑ה וַיֵּצֵ֖א מִלִּפְנֵ֥י פַרְעֹֽה׃

καὶ εὐλογήσας Ἰακὼβ τὸν Φαραὼ ἐξῆλθεν ἀπ᾽ αὐτοῦ.

And Jacob blessed Pharaoh, and went out from before Pharaoh.

וַיּוֹשֵׁ֣ב יוֹסֵף֮ אֶת אָבִ֣י־ו וְאֶת אֶחָי־ו֒ וַיִּתֵּ֨ן לָהֶ֤ם אֲחֻזָּה֙ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֔יִם בְּמֵיטַ֥ב הָאָ֖רֶץ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ רַעְמְסֵ֑ס כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר צִוָּ֥ה פַרְעֹֽה׃

καὶ κατῴκισεν Ἰωσὴφ τὸν πατέρα καὶ τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτοῖς κατάσχεσιν ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτου, ἐν τῇ βελτίστῃ γῇ, ἐν γῇ Ῥαμεσσή, καθὰ προσέταξεν Φαραώ.

ויושׁב יוסף את אביו ואת אחיו ויתן להם אחזה בארץ מצרים במיטב הארץ בארץ רעמסס כאשׁר צוה פרעה

And Joseph placed his father and his brethren, and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded.

וַיְכַלְכֵּ֤ל יוֹסֵף֙ אֶת אָבִ֣י־ו וְאֶת אֶחָ֔י־ו וְאֵ֖ת כָּל־בֵּ֣ית אָבִ֑יו לֶ֖חֶם לְפִ֥י הַטָּֽף׃

καὶ ἐσιτομέτρει Ἰωσὴφ τῷ πατρὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς καὶ παντὶ τῷ οἴκῳ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ σῖτον κατὰ σῶμα.

Et alébat eos, omnémque domum patris sui, præbens cibária síngulis.

ויכלכל יוסף את אביו ואת אחיו ואת כל־בית אביו לחם לפי הטף

And Joseph nourished his father, and his brethren, and all his father ’s household, with bread, according to [their] families.

וְלֶ֤חֶם אֵין֙ בְּכָל הָ־אָ֔רֶץ כִּֽי־כָבֵ֥ד הָרָעָ֖ב מְאֹ֑ד וַתֵּ֜לַהּ אֶ֤רֶץ מִצְרַ֨יִם֙ וְאֶ֣רֶץ כְּנַ֔עַן מִפְּנֵ֖י הָרָעָֽב׃

Σῖτος δὲ οὐκ ἦν ἐν πάσῃ τῇ γῇ, ἐνίσχυσεν γὰρ ὁ λιμὸς σφόδρα · ἐξέλιπεν δὲ ἡ γῆ Αἰγύπτου καὶ ἡ γῆ Χανάαν ἀπὸ τοῦ λιμοῦ.

In toto enim orbe panis déerat, et opprésserat fames terram, máxime Ægýpti et Chánaan.

ולחם אין בכל הארץ כי־כבד הרעב מאד ותלא ארץ מצרים וארץ כנען מפני הרעב

And [there was] no bread in all the land; for the famine [was] very sore, so that the land of Egypt and [all] the land of Canaan fainted by reason of the famine.

συνήγαγεν δὲ Ἰωσὴφ πᾶν τὸ ἀργύριον τὸ εὑρεθὲν ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτου καὶ ἐν γῇ Χανάαν τοῦ σίτου ὃ ἠγόραζον, καὶ ἐσιτομέτρει αὐτοῖς · καὶ εἰσήνεγκεν Ἰωσὴφ πᾶν τὸ ἀργύριον εἰς τὸν οἶκον Φαραώ.

E quibus omnem pecúniam congregávit pro venditióne fruménti, et íntulit eam in ærárium regis.

וילקט יוסף את־כל הכסף הנמצא בארץ־מצרים ובארץ כנען בשׁבר אשׁר־הם שׁברים ויבא יוסף את הכסף ביתה פרעה

And Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, for the corn which they bought: and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh ’s house.

καὶ ἐξέλιπεν τὸ ἀργύριον πᾶν ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου καὶ ἐκ γῆς Χανάαν · ἦλθον δὲ πάντες οἱ Αἰγύπτιοι πρὸς Ἰωσὴφ λέγοντες Δὸς ἡμῖν ἄρτους · καὶ ἵνα τί ἀποθνήσκομεν ἐναντίον σου; ἐκλέλοιπεν γὰρ τὸ ἀργύριον ἡμῶν.

Cumque defecísset emptóribus prétium, venit cuncta Ægýptus ad Ioseph, dicens: Da nobis panes: quare mórimur coram te, deficiénte pecúnia?

ויתם הכסף מארץ מצרים ומארץ כנען ויבאו כל־מצרים אל־יוסף לאמר הבה לנו לחם ולמה נמות נגדך כי אפס הכסף

And when money failed in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came unto Joseph, and said, Give us bread: for why should we die in thy presence? for the money faileth.

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יוֹסֵף֙ הָב֣וּ מִקְנֵיכֶ֔ם וְאֶתְּנָ֥ה לָכֶ֖ם בְּמִקְנֵיכֶ֑ם אִם־אָפֵ֖ס כָּֽסֶף׃
16
εἶπεν δὲ αὐτοῖς Ἰωσήφ Φέρετε τὰ κτήνη ὑμῶν, καὶ δώσω ὑμῖν ἄρτους ἀντὶ τῶν κτηνῶν ὑμῶν, εἰ ἐκλέλοιπεν τὸ ἀργύριον ὑμῶν.

Quibus ille respóndit: Addúcite pécora vestra, et dabo vobis pro eis cibos, si prétium non habétis.

ויאמר יוסף הבו מקניכם ואתן לכם לחם במקניכם אם־אפס הכסף

And Joseph said, Give your cattle; and I will give you for your cattle, if money fail.

וַיָּבִ֣יאוּ אֶת מִקְנֵי־הֶם֮ אֶל־יוֹסֵף֒ וַיִּתֵּ֣ן לָהֶם֩ יוֹסֵ֨ף לֶ֜חֶם בַּסּוּסִ֗ים וּבְמִקְנֵ֥ה הַצֹּ֛אן וּבְמִקְנֵ֥ה הַבָּקָ֖ר וּבַחֲמֹרִ֑ים וַיְנַהֲלֵ֤ם בַּלֶּ֨חֶם֙ בְּכָל מִקְנֵ־הֶ֔ם בַּשָּׁנָ֖ה הַהִֽוא׃

ἤγαγον δὲ τὰ κτήνη πρὸς Ἰωσήφ, καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτοῖς Ἰωσὴφ ἄρτους ἀντὶ τῶν ἵππων καὶ ἀντὶ τῶν προβάτων καὶ ἀντὶ τῶν βοῶν καὶ ἀντὶ τῶν ὄνων · καὶ ἐξέθρεψεν αὐτοὺς ἐν ἄρτοις ἀντὶ πάντων τῶν κτηνῶν αὐτῶν ἐν τῷ ἐνιαυτῷ ἐκείνῳ.

Quæ cum adduxíssent, dedit eis aliménta pro equis, et óvibus, et bobus, et ásinis: sustentavítque eos illo anno pro commutatióne pécorum.

ויביאו את מקניהם אל־יוסף ויתן להם יוסף לחם בסוסים ובמקנה הצאן ובמקנה הבקר ובחמרים וינחלם בלחם בכל מקניהם בשׁנה ההיא

And they brought their cattle unto Joseph: and Joseph gave them bread [in exchange] for horses, and for the flocks, and for the cattle of the herds, and for the asses: and he fed them with bread for all their cattle for that year.

וַתִּתֹּם֮ הַשָּׁנָ֣ה הַהִוא֒ וַיָּבֹ֨אוּ אֵלָ֜יו בַּשָּׁנָ֣ה הַשֵּׁנִ֗ית וַיֹּ֤אמְרוּ לוֹ֙ לֹֽא־נְכַחֵ֣ד מֵֽאֲדֹנִ֔י כִּ֚י אִם־תַּ֣ם הַכֶּ֔סֶף וּמִקְנֵ֥ה הַבְּהֵמָ֖ה אֶל אֲדֹנִ֑־י לֹ֤א נִשְׁאַר֙ לִפְנֵ֣י אֲדֹנִ֔י בִּלְתִּ֥י אִם גְּוִיָּתֵ֖־נוּ וְאַדְמָתֵֽנוּ׃

ἐξῆλθεν δὲ τὸ ἔτος ἐκεῖνο, καὶ ἦλθαν πρὸς αὐτὸν ἐν τῷ ἔτει τῷ δευτέρῳ καὶ εἶπαν αὐτῷ Μή ποτε ἐκτριβῶμεν ἀπὸ τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν · εἰ γὰρ ἐκλέλοιπεν τὸ ἀργύριον ἡμῶν καὶ τὰ ὑπάρχοντα καὶ τὰ κτήνη πρὸς σὲ τὸν κύριον, καὶ οὐχ ὑπολείπεται ἡμῖν ἐναντίον τοῦ κυρίου ἀλλ᾽ ἢ τὸ ἴδιον σῶμα καὶ ἡ γῆ ἡμῶν.

Venérunt quoque anno secúndo, et dixérunt ei: Non celábimus dóminum nostrum quod deficiénte pecúnia, pécora simul defecérunt: nec clam te est, quod absque corpóribus et terra nihil habeámus.

ותתם השׁנה ההיא ויבאו אליו בשׁנה השׁנית ויאמרו לו לא־נכחד מאדני כי אם־תם הכסף ומקנה הבהמה אל אדני לא נשׁאר לפני אדני בלתי אם גויתינו ואדמתנו

When that year was ended, they came unto him the second year, and said unto him, We will not hide [it] from my lord, how that our money is spent; my lord also hath our herds of cattle; there is not ought left in the sight of my lord, but our bodies, and our lands:

Cur ergo moriémur te vidénte? et nos et terra nostra tui érimus: eme nos in servitútem régiam, et præbe sémina, ne pereúnte cultóre redigátur terra in solitúdinem.

למה נמות לעיניך גם־אנחנו גם אדמתנו קנה אתנו ואת אדמתנו בלחם ונהיה אנחנו ואדמתנו עבדים לפרעה ותן־זרע ונחיה ולא נמות והאדמה לא תשׁם

καὶ τὸν λαὸν κατεδουλώσατο αὐτῷ εἰς παῖδας, ἀπ᾽ ἄκρων ὁρίων Αἰγύπτου ἕως τῶν ἄκρων,

χωρὶς τῆς γῆς τῶν ἱερέων μόνον · οὐκ ἐκτήσατο ταύτην Ἰωσήφ · ἐν δόσει γὰρ ἔδωκεν δόμα τοῖς ἱερεῦσιν Φαραώ, καὶ ἤσθιον τὴν δόσιν ἣν ἔδωκεν αὐτοῖς Φαραώ · διὰ τοῦτο οὐκ ἀπέδοντο τὴν γῆν αὐτῶν.

Only the land of the priests bought he not; for the priests had a portion [assigned them] of Pharaoh, and did eat their portion which Pharaoh gave them: wherefore they sold not their lands.

ἀλλὰ κοιμηθήσομαι μετὰ τῶν πατέρων μου, καὶ ἀρεῖς με ἐξ Αἰγύπτου καὶ θάψεις με ἐν τῷ τάφῳ αὐτῶν. ὁ δὲ εἶπεν Ἐγὼ ποιήσω κατὰ τὸ ῥῆμά σου.
