וּמִקְנֶ֣ה ׀ רַ֗ב הָיָ֞ה לִבְנֵ֧י רְאוּבֵ֛ן וְלִבְנֵי־גָ֖ד עָצ֣וּם מְאֹ֑ד וַיִּרְא֞וּ אֶת־אֶ֤רֶץ יַעְזֵר֙ וְאֶת־אֶ֣רֶץ גִּלְעָ֔ד וְהִנֵּ֥ה הַמָּק֖וֹם מְק֥וֹם מִקְנֶֽה׃

Καὶ κτήνη πλῆθος ἦν τοῖς υἱοῖς Ῥουβὴν καὶ τοῖς υἱοῖς Γάδ, πλῆθος σφόδρα · καὶ ἴδον τὴν χώραν Ἰαζὴρ καὶ τὴν χώραν Γαλαάδ, καὶ ἦν ὁ τόπος τόπος κτήνεσιν.

Fílii autem Ruben et Gad habébant pécora multa, et erat illis in iuméntis infiníta substántia. Cumque vidíssent Iazer et Gálaad aptas animálibus aléndis terras,

ומקנה רב היה לבני ראובן ולבני־גד ולחצי שׁבט המנשׁה עצום מאד ויראו את־ארץ יעזיר ואת־ארץ גלעד והנה המקום מקום מקנה
1
Now the children of Reuben and the children of Gad had a very great multitude of cattle: and when they saw the land of Jazer, and the land of Gilead, that, behold, the place [was] a place for cattle;

καὶ προσελθόντες οἱ υἱοὶ Ῥουβὴν καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ Γὰδ εἶπαν πρὸς Μωυσῆν καὶ πρὸς Ἐλεαζὰρ τὸν ἱερέα καὶ πρὸς τοὺς ἄρχοντας τῆς συναγωγῆς λέγοντες

venérunt ad Móysen, et ad Eleázarum sacerdótem, et príncipes multitúdinis, atque dixérunt:

ויבאו בני־גד ובני ראובן וחצי שׁבט המנשׁה ויאמרו אל־משׁה ואל־אלעזר הכהן ואל־נשׂיאי העדה לאמר

The children of Gad and the children of Reuben came and spake unto Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and unto the princes of the congregation, saying,

Ataroth, and Dibon, and Jazer, and Nimrah, and Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Shebam, and Nebo, and Beon,

הָאָ֗רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֨ר הִכָּ֤ה יְהוָה֙ לִפְנֵי֙ עֲדַ֣ת יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֶ֥רֶץ מִקְנֶ֖ה הִ֑וא וְלַֽעֲבָדֶ֖יךָ מִקְנֶֽה׃ ס

τὴν γῆν ἣν παραδέδωκεν Κύριος ἐνώπιον τῶν υἱῶν Ἰσραήλ, γῆ κτηνοτρόφος ἐστίν, καὶ τοῖς παισίν σου κτήνη ὑπάρχει.

terra, quam percússit Dóminus in conspéctu filiórum Israel, régio ubérrima est ad pastum animálium: et nos servi tui habémus iuménta plúrima:

הארץ אשׁר הכה יהוה לפני עדת ישׂראל ארץ מקנה היא ולעבדיך מקנה
4
[Even] the country which the LORD smote before the congregation of Israel, [is] a land for cattle, and thy servants have cattle:

וַיֹּאמְר֗וּ אִם־מָצָ֤אנוּ חֵן֙ בְּעֵינֶ֔יךָ יֻתַּ֞ן אֶת הָ־אָ֧רֶץ הַזֹּ֛את לַעֲבָדֶ֖יךָ לַאֲחֻזָּ֑ה אַל תַּעֲבִרֵ֖־נוּ אֶת הַ־יַּרְדֵּֽן׃

καὶ ἔλεγον Εἰ εὕρομεν χάριν ἐνώπιόν σου, δοθήτω ἡ γῆ αὕτη τοῖς οἰκέταις σου ἐν κατασχέσει, καὶ μὴ διαβιβάσῃς ἡμᾶς τὸν Ἰορδάνην.

precamúrque si invénimus grátiam coram te, ut des nobis fámulis tuis eam in possessiónem, nec fácias nos transíre Iordánem.

ויאמרו אם־מצאנו חן בעיניך יתן את הארץ הזאת לעבדיך לאחזה ואל תעבירנו את הירדן
5
Wherefore, said they, if we have found grace in thy sight, let this land be given unto thy servants for a possession, [and] bring us not over Jordan.

καὶ εἶπεν Μωυσῆς τοῖς υἱοῖς Γὰδ καὶ τοῖς υἱοῖς Ῥουβήν Οἱ ἀδελφοὶ ὑμῶν πορεύονται εἰς πόλεμον, καὶ ὑμεῖς καθήσεσθε αὐτοῦ;

Quibus respóndit Móyses: Numquid fratres vestri ibunt ad pugnam, et vos hic sedébitis?

ויאמר משׁה לבני ראובן ולבני־גד ולחצי שׁבט המנשׁה האחיכם יבאו למלחמה ואתם תשׁבו פה

And Moses said unto the children of Gad and to the children of Reuben, Shall your brethren go to war, and shall ye sit here?

וְלָ֣מָּה תנואון אֶת־לֵ֖ב בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל מֵֽעֲבֹר֙ אֶל הָ־אָ֔רֶץ אֲשֶׁר־נָתַ֥ן לָהֶ֖ם יְהוָֽה׃

καὶ ἵνα τί διαστρέφετε τὰς διανοίας τῶν υἱῶν Ἰσραήλ, μὴ διαβῆναι εἰς τὴν γῆν ἣν Κύριος δίδωσιν αὐτοῖς;

Cur subvértitis mentes filiórum Israel, ne transíre áudeant in locum, quem eis datúrus est Dóminus?

ולמה תניאו את־לב בני ישׂראל מעבר אל הארץ אשׁר־נתן להם יהוה
7
And wherefore discourage ye the heart of the children of Israel from going over into the land which the LORD hath given them?

כֹּ֥ה עָשׂ֖וּ אֲבֹתֵיכֶ֑ם בְּשָׁלְחִ֥י אֹתָ֛ם מִקָּדֵ֥שׁ בַּרְנֵ֖עַ לִרְא֥וֹת אֶת הָ־אָֽרֶץ׃
8
οὐχ οὕτως ἐποίησαν οἱ πατέρες ὑμῶν, ὅτε ἀπέστειλα αὐτοὺς ἐκ Καδὴς Βαρνὴ κατανοῆσαι τὴν γῆν;
8
Nonne ita egérunt patres vestri, quando misi de Cadesbárne ad explorándam terram?

כה עשׂו אבתיכם בשׁלחי אתם מקדשׁ ברנע לראות את הארץ
8
Thus did your fathers, when I sent them from Kadeshbarnea to see the land.

וַֽיַּעֲל֞וּ עַד־נַ֣חַל אֶשְׁכּ֗וֹל וַיִּרְאוּ֙ אֶת הָ־אָ֔רֶץ וַיָּנִ֕יאוּ אֶת־לֵ֖ב בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל לְבִלְתִּי־בֹא֙ אֶל הָ־אָ֔רֶץ אֲשֶׁר־נָתַ֥ן לָהֶ֖ם יְהוָֽה׃

καὶ ἀνέβησαν Φάραγγα βότρυος, καὶ κατενόησαν τὴν γῆν, καὶ ἀπέστησαν τὴν καρδίαν τῶν υἱῶν Ἰσραήλ, ὅπως μὴ εἰσέλθωσιν εἰς τὴν γῆν ἣν ἔδωκεν Κύριος αὐτοῖς.

Cumque veníssent usque ad Vallem botri, lustráta omni regióne, subvertérunt cor filiórum Israel, ut non intrárent fines, quos eis Dóminus dedit.

ויעלו עד־נחל אשׁכול ויראו את הארץ ויניאו את־לב בני ישׂראל לבלתי־בא אל הארץ אשׁר־נתן להם יהוה
9
For when they went up unto the valley of Eshcol, and saw the land, they discouraged the heart of the children of Israel, that they should not go into the land which the LORD had given them.

καὶ ὠργίσθη θυμῷ Κύριος ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ, καὶ ὤμοσεν λέγων

Qui irátus iurávit, dicens:

And the LORD ’S anger was kindled the same time, and he sware, saying,

אִם־יִרְא֨וּ הָאֲנָשִׁ֜ים הָעֹלִ֣ים מִמִּצְרַ֗יִם מִבֶּ֨ן עֶשְׂרִ֤ים שָׁנָה֙ וָמַ֔עְלָה אֵ֚ת הָאֲדָמָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר נִשְׁבַּ֛עְתִּי לְאַבְרָהָ֥ם לְיִצְחָ֖ק וּֽלְיַעֲקֹ֑ב כִּ֥י לֹא־מִלְא֖וּ אַחֲרָֽי׃

Εἰ ὄψονται οἱ ἄνθρωποι οὗτοι οἱ ἀναβάντες ἐξ Αἰγύπτου ἀπὸ εἰκοσαετοῦς καὶ ἐπάνω, οἱ ἐπιστάμενοι τὸ κακὸν καὶ τὸ ἀγαθόν, τὴν γῆν ἣν ὤμοσεν τῷ Ἀβραὰμ καὶ Ἰσαὰκ καὶ Ἰακώβ · οὐ γὰρ συνεπηκολούθησαν ὀπίσω μου ·

Si vidébunt hómines isti, qui ascendérunt ex Ægýpto a vigínti annis et supra, terram, quam sub iuraménto pollícitus sum Abraham, Isaac, et Iacob: et noluérunt sequi me,

אם־יראו האנשׁים העלים ממצרים מבן עשׂרים שׁנה ומעלה את האדמה אשׁר נשׁבעתי לאברהם ליצחק וליעקב כי לא־מלאו אחרי

Surely none of the men that came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob; because they have not wholly followed me:

πλὴν Χαλὲβ υἱὸς Ἰεφοννὴ ὁ διακεχωρισμένος, καὶ Ἰησοῦς ὁ τοῦ Ναυή, ὅτι συνεπηκολούθησεν ὀπίσω Κυρίου.

præter Caleb fílium Iéphone Cenezǽum, et Iósue fílium Nun: isti implevérunt voluntátem meam.

בלתי כלב בן־יפנה הקנזי ויהושׁע בן־נון כי מלאו אחרי יהוה
12
Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite, and Joshua the son of Nun: for they have wholly followed the LORD.

וַיִּֽחַר־אַ֤ף יְהוָה֙ בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַיְנִעֵם֙ בַּמִּדְבָּ֔ר אַרְבָּעִ֖ים שָׁנָ֑ה עַד־תֹּם֙ כָּל הַ־דּ֔וֹר הָעֹשֶׂ֥ה הָרַ֖ע בְּעֵינֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃

καὶ ὠργίσθη θυμῷ Κύριος ἐπὶ τὸν Ἰσραήλ, καὶ κατερόμβευσεν αὐτοὺς ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ τεσσεράκοντα ἔτη, ἕως ἐξανηλώθη πᾶσα ἡ γενεά, οἱ ποιοῦντες τὰ πονηρὰ ἔναντι Κυρίου.

Iratúsque Dóminus advérsum Israel, circumdúxit eum per desértum quadragínta annis, donec consumerétur univérsa generátio, quæ fécerat malum in conspéctu eius.

ויחר־אף יהוה בישׂראל וינעם במדבר ארבעים שׁנה עד־תם כל הדור העשׂה הרע בעיני יהוה
13
And the LORD ’S anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation, that had done evil in the sight of the LORD, was consumed.

וְהִנֵּ֣ה קַמְתֶּ֗ם תַּ֚חַת אֲבֹ֣תֵיכֶ֔ם תַּרְבּ֖וּת אֲנָשִׁ֣ים חַטָּאִ֑ים לִסְפּ֣וֹת ע֗וֹד עַ֛ל חֲר֥וֹן אַף־יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

ἰδοὺ ἀνέστητε ἀντὶ τῶν πατέρων ὑμῶν, σύστρεμμα ἀνθρώπων ἁμαρτωλῶν, προσθεῖναι ἔτι ἐπὶ τὸν θυμὸν τῆς ὀργῆς Κυρίου ἐπὶ Ἰσραήλ ·

Et ecce, inquit, vos surrexístis pro pátribus vestris, increménta et alúmni hóminum peccatórum, ut augerétis furórem Dómini contra Israel.

והנה קמתם תחת אבתיכם תרבות אנשׁים חטאים לספות עוד על חרון אף־יהוה על ישׂראל
14
And, behold, ye are risen up in your fathers ’ stead, an increase of sinful men, to augment yet the fierce anger of the LORD toward Israel.

והנה קמתם תח#ת [אבתי׳כם תרבות אנשים חטאים לספות עוד על חרון אף־יהו]ה אל־ישראל ׃

כִּ֤י תְשׁוּבֻן֙ מֵֽאַחֲרָ֔יו וְיָסַ֣ף ע֔וֹד לְהַנִּיח֖וֹ בַּמִּדְבָּ֑ר וְשִֽׁחַתֶּ֖ם לְכָל הָ־עָ֥ם הַזֶּֽה׃ ס
15
ὅτι ἀποστραφήσεσθε ἀπ᾽ αὐτοῦ προσθεῖναι ἔτι καταλιπεῖν αὐτὸν ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ, καὶ ἀνομήσετε εἰς ὅλην τὴν συναγωγὴν ταύτην.

Quod si noluéritis sequi eum, in solitúdine pópulum derelínquet, et vos causa éritis necis ómnium.

כי תשׁובון מאחריו ויסף עוד להניחו במדבר ושׁחתם לכל העם הזה
15
For if ye turn away from after him, he will yet again leave them in the wilderness; and ye shall destroy all this people.

וַיִּגְּשׁ֤וּ אֵלָיו֙ וַ֣יֹּאמְר֔וּ גִּדְרֹ֥ת צֹ֛אן נִבְנֶ֥ה לְמִקְנֵ֖נוּ פֹּ֑ה וְעָרִ֖ים לְטַפֵּֽנוּ׃
16
καὶ προσῆλθον αὐτῷ καὶ ἔλεγον Ἐπαύλεις προβάτων οἰκοδομήσωμεν ὧδε τοῖς κτήνεσιν ἡμῶν καὶ πόλεις ταῖς ἀποσκευαῖς ἡμῶν,

At illi prope accedéntes, dixérunt: Caulas óvium fabricábimus, et stábula iumentórum, párvulis quoque nostris urbes munítas:

ויגשׁו אליו ויאמרו גדרות צאן נבנה למקנינו פה וערים לטפנו
16
And they came near unto him, and said, We will build sheepfolds here for our cattle, and cities for our little ones:

וַאֲנַ֜חְנוּ נֵחָלֵ֣ץ חֻשִׁ֗ים לִפְנֵי֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל עַ֛ד אֲשֶׁ֥ר אִם הֲבִֽיאֹנֻ֖־ם אֶל מְקוֹמָ֑־ם וְיָשַׁ֤ב טַפֵּ֨נוּ֙ בְּעָרֵ֣י הַמִּבְצָ֔ר מִפְּנֵ֖י יֹשְׁבֵ֥י הָאָֽרֶץ׃
17
καὶ ἡμεῖς ἐνοπλισάμενοι προφυλακὴν πρότεροι τῶν υἱῶν Ἰσραήλ, ἕως ἂν ἀγάγωμεν αὐτοὺς εἰς τὸν ἑαυτῶν τόπον · καὶ κατοικήσει ἡ ἀποσκευὴ ἡμῶν ἐν πόλεσιν τετειχισμέναις διὰ τοὺς κατοικοῦντας τὴν γῆν.

nos autem ipsi armáti et accíncti pergémus ad prœ́lium ante fílios Israel, donec introducámus eos ad loca sua. Párvuli nostri, et quidquid habére póssumus, erunt in úrbibus murátis, propter habitatórum insídias.

ואנחנו נחלץ חשׁים לפני בני ישׂראל עד אשׁר אם הבאנום אל מקומם וישׁב טפנו בערי המבצר מפני ישׁבי הארץ
17
But we ourselves will go ready armed before the children of Israel, until we have brought them unto their place: and our little ones shall dwell in the fenced cities because of the inhabitants of the land.

[ואנחנו נחלץ חושים לפני] בני ישראל עד[ אשר אם הביאונו׳ם אל מקומ׳ם וישב] [טפ׳נו בערי המבצר מפני יו]ש##בי [הארץ ׃

לֹ֥א נָשׁ֖וּב אֶל בָּתֵּ֑י־נוּ עַ֗ד הִתְנַחֵל֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אִ֖ישׁ נַחֲלָתֽוֹ׃
18
οὐ μὴ ἀποστραφῶμεν εἰς τὰς οἰκίας ἡμῶν ἕως ἂν καταμερισθῶσιν οἱ υἱοὶ Ἰσραὴλ ἕκαστος εἰς τὴν κληρονομίαν αὐτοῦ.

Non revertémur in domos nostras, usque dum possídeant fílii Israel hereditátem suam:
18
לא נשׁוב אל בתינו עד התנחלו בני ישׂראל אישׁ את נחלתו
18
We will not return unto our houses, until the children of Israel have inherited every man his inheritance.

כִּ֣י לֹ֤א נִנְחַל֙ אִתָּ֔ם מֵעֵ֥בֶר לַיַּרְדֵּ֖ן וָהָ֑לְאָה כִּ֣י בָ֤אָה נַחֲלָתֵ֨נוּ֙ אֵלֵ֔ינוּ מֵעֵ֥בֶר הַיַּרְדֵּ֖ן מִזְרָֽחָה׃ פ
19
καὶ οὐκέτι κληρονομήσωμεν ἐν αὐτοῖς ἀπὸ τοῦ πέραν τοῦ Ἰορδάνου καὶ ἐπέκεινα, ὅτι ἀπέχομεν τοὺς κλήρους ἡμῶν ἐν τῷ πέραν τοῦ Ἰορδάνου ἐν ἀνατολαῖς.

nec quidquam quærémus trans Iordánem, quia iam habémus nostram possessiónem in orientáli eius plaga.
19
כי לא ננחל אתם מעבר לירדן והלאה כי באה נחלתנו אלינו מעבר לירדן מזרחה
19
For we will not inherit with them on yonder side Jordan, or forward; because our inheritance is fallen to us on this side Jordan eastward.

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם֙ מֹשֶׁ֔ה אִֽם תַּעֲשׂ֖וּ־ן אֶת הַ־דָּבָ֣ר הַזֶּ֑ה אִם־תֵּחָֽלְצ֛וּ לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָ֖ה לַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃

καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτοὺς Μωυσῆς Ἐὰν ποιήσητε κατὰ τὸ ῥῆμα τοῦτο, ἐὰν ἐξοπλίσησθε ἔναντι Κυρίου εἰς πόλεμον,

Quibus Móyses ait: Si fácitis quod promíttitis, expedíti pérgite coram Dómino ad pugnam:

ויאמר אליהם משׁה אם תעשׂון את הדבר הזה ואם־תחלצו לפני יהוה למלחמה

And Moses said unto them, If ye will do this thing, if ye will go armed before the LORD to war,

καὶ παρελεύσεται ὑμῶν πᾶς ὁπλίτης τὸν Ἰορδάνην ἔναντι Κυρίου ἕως ἂν ἐκτριβῇ ὁ ἐχθρὸς αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ προσώπου αὐτοῦ

et omnis vir bellátor armátus Iordánem tránseat, donec subvértat Dóminus inimícos suos,

ועבר לכם כל־חלוץ את הירדן לפני יהוה עד אורישׁו את איביו מפניו

And will go all of you armed over Jordan before the LORD, until he hath driven out his enemies from before him,

et subiciátur ei omnis terra: tunc éritis inculpábiles apud Dóminum et apud Israel, et obtinébitis regiónes, quas vultis, coram Dómino.

ונכבשׁה הארץ לפני יהוה ואחר תשׁובון והייתם נקואים מיהוה ומישׂראל והיתה הארץ הזאת לכם לאחזה לפני יהוה
22
And the land be subdued before the LORD: then afterward ye shall return, and be guiltless before the LORD, and before Israel; and this land shall be your possession before the LORD.

But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out.

But thy servants will pass over, every man armed for war, before the LORD to battle, as my lord saith.

And Moses said unto them, If the children of Gad and the children of Reuben will pass with you over Jordan, every man armed to battle, before the LORD, and the land shall be subdued before you; then ye shall give them the land of Gilead for a possession:

We will pass over armed before the LORD into the land of Canaan, that the possession of our inheritance on this side Jordan [may be] ours.

And Moses gave unto them, [even] to the children of Gad, and to the children of Reuben, and unto half the tribe of Manasseh the son of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land, with the cities thereof in the coasts, [even] the cities of the country round about.

And the children of Machir the son of Manasseh went to Gilead, and took it, and dispossessed the Amorite which [was] in it.

καὶ ἔδωκεν Μωυσῆς τὴν Γαλαὰδ τῷ Μαχεὶρ υἱῷ Μανασσή, καὶ κατῴκησεν ἐκεῖ.

Dedit ergo Móyses terram Gálaad Machir fílio Manásse, qui habitávit in ea.

ויתן משׁה את הגלעד למכיר בן־מנשׁה וישׁב בה

And Moses gave Gilead unto Machir the son of Manasseh; and he dwelt therein.

καὶ Ἰαεὶρ ὁ τοῦ Μανασσὴ ἐπορεύθη καὶ ἔλαβεν τὰς ἐπαύλεις αὐτῶν, καὶ ἐπωνόμασεν αὐτὰς Ἐπαύλεις Ἰαείρ.

Iair autem fílius Manásse ábiit, et occupávit vicos eius, quos appellávit Havoth Iair, id est, Villas Iair.

And Jair the son of Manasseh went and took the small towns thereof, and called them Havothjair.
