וַיְדַבֵּ֧ר יְהוָ֛ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֖ה בְּעַֽרְבֹ֣ת מוֹאָ֑ב עַל־יַרְדֵּ֥ן יְרֵח֖וֹ לֵאמֹֽר׃

Καὶ ἐλάλησεν Κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν ἐπὶ δυσμῶν Μωὰβ παρὰ τὸν Ἰορδάνην κατὰ Ἰερειχὼ λέγων

Hæc quoque locútus est Dóminus ad Móysen in campéstribus Moab supra Iordánem, contra Iéricho:

וידבר יהוה אל־משׁה בערבת מואב על־ירדן יריחו לאמר

And the LORD spake unto Moses in the plains of Moab by Jordan [near] Jericho, saying,

צַו֮ אֶת־בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵל֒ וְנָתְנ֣וּ לַלְוִיִּ֗ם מִֽנַּחֲלַ֛ת אֲחֻזָּתָ֖ם עָרִ֣ים לָשָׁ֑בֶת וּמִגְרָ֗שׁ לֶֽעָרִים֙ סְבִיבֹ֣תֵיהֶ֔ם תִּתְּנ֖וּ לַלְוִיִּֽם׃
2
Σύνταξον τοῖς υἱοῖς Ἰσραὴλ καὶ δώσουσιν τοῖς Λευείταις ἀπὸ τῶν κλήρων κατασχέσεως αὐτῶν πόλεις κατοικεῖν, καὶ τὰ προάστια τῶν πόλεων κύκλῳ αὐτῶν δώσουσιν τοῖς Λευείταις ·

Prǽcipe fíliis Israel ut dent Levítis de possessiónibus suis

צוי את־בני ישׂראל ונתנו ללוים מנחלת אחזתם ערים לשׁבת ומגרשׁ לערים סביבתיהם תתנו ללוים
2
Command the children of Israel, that they give unto the Levites of the inheritance of their possession cities to dwell in; and ye shall give [also] unto the Levites suburbs for the cities round about them.

וְהָי֧וּ הֶֽעָרִ֛ים לָהֶ֖ם לָשָׁ֑בֶת וּמִגְרְשֵׁיהֶ֗ם יִהְי֤וּ לִבְהֶמְתָּם֙ וְלִרְכֻשָׁ֔ם וּלְכֹ֖ל חַיָּתָֽם׃
3
καὶ ἔσονται αὐτοῖς αἱ πόλεις κατοικεῖν, καὶ τὰ ἀφορίσματα αὐτῶν ἔσται τοῖς κτήνεσιν αὐτῶν καὶ πᾶσι τοῖς τετράποσιν αὐτῶν.

urbes ad habitándum, et suburbána eárum per circúitum: ut ipsi in óppidis máneant, et suburbána sint pecóribus ac iuméntis:

והיו הערים להם לשׁבת ומגרשׁיהן יהיו לבהמתם ולרכושׁם ולכל חיתם
3
And the cities shall they have to dwell in; and the suburbs of them shall be for their cattle, and for their goods, and for all their beasts.

quæ a muris civitátum forínsecus, per circúitum, mille pássuum spátio tendéntur.

ומגרשׁי הערים אשׁר תתנו ללוים מקיר העיר החוצה אלף אמה סביב
4
And the suburbs of the cities, which ye shall give unto the Levites, [shall reach] from the wall of the city and outward a thousand cubits round about.

καὶ μετρήσεις ἔξω τῆς πόλεως τὸ κλίτος τὸ πρὸς ἀνατολὰς δισχιλίους πήχεις, καὶ τὸ κλίτος τὸ πρὸς λίβα δισχιλίους πήχεις, καὶ τὸ κλίτος τὸ πρὸς θάλασσαν δισχιλίους πήχεις, καὶ τὸ κλίτος τὸ πρὸς βορρᾶν δισχιλίους πήχεις · καὶ ἡ πόλις μέσον τούτου ἔσται ὑμῖν, καὶ τὰ ὅμορα τῶν πόλεων.

Contra oriéntem duo míllia erunt cúbiti, et contra merídiem simíliter erunt duo míllia: ad mare quoque, quod réspicit ad occidéntem, éadem mensúra erit, et septentrionális plaga æquáli término finiétur, erúntque urbes in médio, et foris suburbána.

ומדתם מחוץ לעיר את־פאת קדמה אלפים באמה ואת־פאת נגבה אלפים באמה ואת־פאת ימה אלפים באמה ואת־פאת צפונה אלפים באמה והעיר בתוך זה יהיה לכם מגרשׁי הערים
5
And ye shall measure from without the city on the east side two thousand cubits, and on the south side two thousand cubits, and on the west side two thousand cubits, and on the north side two thousand cubits; and the city [shall be] in the midst: this shall be to them the suburbs of the cities.

καὶ τὰς πόλεις δώσετε τοῖς Λευείταις, τὰς ἓξ πόλεις τῶν φυγαδευτηρίων ἃς δώσετε φεύγειν ἐκεῖ τῷ φονεύσαντι, καὶ πρὸς ταύταις τεσσεράκοντα καὶ δύο πόλεις ·

De ipsis autem óppidis, quæ Levítis dábitis, sex erunt in fugitivórum auxília separáta, ut fúgiat ad ea qui fúderit sánguinem: et excéptis his, ália quadragínta duo óppida,

ואת הערים אשׁר תתנו ללוים את שׁשׁ־ערי המקלט אשׁר תתנו לנוס שׁם הרצח ועליהן תתנו ארבעים ושׁתים עיר
6
And among the cities which ye shall give unto the Levites [there shall be] six cities for refuge, which ye shall appoint for the manslayer, that he may flee thither: and to them ye shall add forty and two cities.

כָּל הֶ־עָרִ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֤ר תִּתְּנוּ֙ לַלְוִיִּ֔ם אַרְבָּעִ֥ים וּשְׁמֹנֶ֖ה עִ֑יר אֶתְהֶ֖ן וְאֶת מִגְרְשֵׁי־הֶֽן׃

πάσας τὰς πόλεις δώσετε τοῖς Λευείταις καὶ τεσσεράκοντα καὶ ὀκτὼ πόλεις, ταύτας καὶ τὰ προάστια αὐτῶν.

id est, simul quadragínta octo cum suburbánis suis.

כל הערים אשׁר תתנו ללוים ארבעים ושׁמנה עיר אתהן ואת מגרשׁיהן
7
[So] all the cities which ye shall give to the Levites [shall be] forty and eight cities: them [shall ye give] with their suburbs.

וְהֶֽעָרִ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֤ר תִּתְּנוּ֙ מֵאֲחֻזַּ֣ת בְּנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל מֵאֵ֤ת הָרַב֙ תַּרְבּ֔וּ וּמֵאֵ֥ת הַמְעַ֖ט תַּמְעִ֑יטוּ אִ֗ישׁ כְּפִ֤י נַחֲלָתוֹ֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר יִנְחָ֔לוּ יִתֵּ֥ן מֵעָרָ֖יו לַלְוִיִּֽם׃ פ

καὶ τὰς πόλεις ἃς δώσετε ἀπὸ τῆς κατασχέσεως υἱῶν Ἰσραήλ, ἀπὸ τῶν τὰ πολλὰ πολλά, καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν ἐλαττόνων ἐλάττω · ἕκαστος κατὰ τὴν κληρονομίαν αὐτοῦ ἣν κληρονομήσουσιν, δώσουσιν ἀπὸ τῶν πόλεων τοῖς Λευείταις.

Ipsǽque urbes, quæ dabúntur de possessiónibus filiórum Israel, ab his qui plus habent, plures auferéntur: et qui minus, paucióres: sínguli iuxta mensúram hereditátis suæ dabunt óppida Levítis.

והערים אשׁר תתנו מאחזת בני־ישׂראל מאת הרב תרבו ומאת המעט תמעיטו אישׁ כפי נחלתו אשׁר ינחל יתן מעריו ללוים
8
And the cities which ye shall give [shall be] of the possession of the children of Israel: from [them that have] many ye shall give many; but from [them that have] few ye shall give few: every one shall give of his cities unto the Levites according to his inheritance which he inheriteth.

Καὶ ἐλάλησεν Κύριος πρὸς Μωυσῆν λέγων.

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

דַּבֵּר֙ אֶל־בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְאָמַרְתָּ֖ אֲלֵהֶ֑ם כִּ֥י אַתֶּ֛ם עֹבְרִ֥ים אֶת הַ־יַּרְדֵּ֖ן אַ֥רְצָה כְּנָֽעַן׃
10
Λάλησον τοῖς υἱοῖς Ἰσραὴλ καὶ ἐρεῖς πρὸς αὐτούς Ὑμεῖς διαβαίνετε τὸν Ἰορδάνην εἰς γῆν Χανάαν,
10
Lóquere fíliis Israel, et dices ad eos: Quando transgréssi fuéritis Iordánem in terram Chánaan,

דבר אל־בני ישׂראל ואמרת אליהם כי אתם עברים את הירדן אל ארץ כנען
10
Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come over Jordan into the land of Canaan;

וְהִקְרִיתֶ֤ם לָכֶם֙ עָרִ֔ים עָרֵ֥י מִקְלָ֖ט תִּהְיֶ֣ינָה לָכֶ֑ם וְנָ֥ס שָׁ֨מָּה֙ רֹצֵ֔חַ מַכֵּה־נֶ֖פֶשׁ בִּשְׁגָגָֽה׃
11
καὶ διαστελεῖτε ὑμῖν αὐτοῖς πόλεις · φυγαδευτήρια ἔσται ὑμῖν, φυγεῖν ἐκεῖ τὸν φονευτήν, πᾶς ὁ πατάξας ψυχὴν ἀκουσίως.

decérnite quæ urbes esse débeant in præsídia fugitivórum, qui noléntes sánguinem fúderint:

והקריתם לכם ערים ערי מקלט תהיינה לכם ונס שׁמה הרצח מכה־נפשׁ בשׁגגה
11
Then ye shall appoint you cities to be cities of refuge for you; that the slayer may flee thither, which killeth any person at unawares.

וְהָי֨וּ לָכֶ֧ם הֶעָרִ֛ים לְמִקְלָ֖ט מִגֹּאֵ֑ל וְלֹ֤א יָמוּת֙ הָרֹצֵ֔חַ עַד עָמְד֛־וֹ לִפְנֵ֥י הָעֵדָ֖ה לַמִּשְׁפָּֽט׃
12
καὶ ἔσονται αἱ πόλεις ὑμῖν φυγαδευτήρια ἀπὸ ἀγχιστεύοντος τὸ αἷμα, καὶ οὐ μὴ ἀποθάνῃ ὁ φονεύων ἕως ἂν στῇ ἔναντι τῆς συναγωγῆς εἰς κρίσιν.

in quibus cum fúerit prófugus, cognátus occísi non póterit eum occídere, donec stet in conspéctu multitúdinis, et causa illíus iudicétur.

והיו לכם הערים למקלט מגאל ולא יומת הרצח עד עמדו לפני העדה למשׁפט
12
And they shall be unto you cities for refuge from the avenger; that the manslayer die not, until he stand before the congregation in judgment.

והיו ל׳כמה הערים למקלט מגואל ולוא ימות הרוצח] [עד עומד׳ו ]לפני? ה##ע#ד#[ה למשפט ׃

אֵ֣ת ׀ שְׁלֹ֣שׁ הֶעָרִ֗ים תִּתְּנוּ֙ מֵעֵ֣בֶר לַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן וְאֵת֙ שְׁלֹ֣שׁ הֶֽעָרִ֔ים תִּתְּנ֖וּ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ כְּנָ֑עַן עָרֵ֥י מִקְלָ֖ט תִּהְיֶֽינָה׃

τρεῖς πόλεις δώσετε πέραν τοῦ Ἰορδάνου, καὶ τὰς τρεῖς πόλεις δώσετε ἐν τῇ γῇ Χανάαν.

tres erunt trans Iordánem, et tres in terra Chánaan,

את שׁלשׁ הערים תתנו מעבר לירדן ואת שׁלשׁ הערים תתנו בארץ כנען ערי מקלט תהינה לבני ישׂראל
14
Ye shall give three cities on this side Jordan, and three cities shall ye give in the land of Canaan, [which] shall be cities of refuge.

לִבְנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל וְלַגֵּ֤ר וְלַתּוֹשָׁב֙ בְּתוֹכָ֔ם תִּהְיֶ֛ינָה שֵׁשׁ הֶ־עָרִ֥ים הָאֵ֖לֶּה לְמִקְלָ֑ט לָנ֣וּס שָׁ֔מָּה כָּל־מַכֵּה־נֶ֖פֶשׁ בִּשְׁגָגָֽה׃

φυγάδιον ἔσται τοῖς υἱοῖς Ἰσραήλ, καὶ τῷ προσηλύτῳ τῷ παροίκῳ τῷ ἐν ὑμῖν · ἔσονται αἱ πόλεις αὗται εἰς φυγαδευτήριον, φυγεῖν ἐκεῖ παντὶ πατάξαντι ψυχὴν ἀκουσίως.

tam fíliis Israel quam ádvenis atque peregrínis, ut confúgiat ad eas qui nolens sánguinem fúderit.

ולגר ולתושׁב בתוכם תהיינה שׁשׁ הערים האלה למקלט לנוס שׁמה כל־מכה־נפשׁ בשׁגגה
15
These six cities shall be a refuge, [both] for the children of Israel, and for the stranger, and for the sojourner among them: that every one that killeth any person unawares may flee thither.

וְאִם בִּ־כְלִ֨י בַרְזֶ֧ל ׀ הִכָּ֛הוּ וַיָּמֹ֖ת רֹצֵ֣חַֽ ה֑וּא מ֥וֹת יוּמַ֖ת הָרֹצֵֽחַ׃
16
ἐὰν δὲ ἐν σκεύει σιδήρου πατάξῃ αὐτὸν καὶ τελευτήσῃ, φονευτής ἐστιν · θανάτῳ θανατούσθω ὁ φονευτής.
16
Si quis ferro percússerit, et mórtuus fúerit qui percússus est, reus erit homicídii, et ipse moriétur.
16
ואם בכלי ברזל הכהו וימת רצח הוא מות יומת הרצח
16
And if he smite him with an instrument of iron, so that he die, he [is] a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.

וְאִ֡ם בְּאֶ֣בֶן יָד֩ אֲשֶׁר־יָמ֨וּת בָּ֥הּ הִכָּ֛הוּ וַיָּמֹ֖ת רֹצֵ֣חַֽ ה֑וּא מ֥וֹת יוּמַ֖ת הָרֹצֵֽחַ׃
17
ἐὰν δὲ ἐν λίθῳ ἐκ χειρὸς ἐν ᾧ ἀποθανεῖται ἐν αὐτῷ πατάξῃ αὐτόν, καὶ ἀποθάνῃ, φονευτής ἐστιν · θανάτῳ θανατούσθω ὁ φονευτής.

Si lápidem iécerit, et ictus occubúerit, simíliter puniétur.
17
ואם באבן יד אשׁר־ימות בה הכהו וימת רצח הוא מות יומת הרצח
17
And if he smite him with throwing a stone, wherewith he may die, and he die, he [is] a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.

א֡וֹ בִּכְלִ֣י עֵֽץ־יָד֩ אֲשֶׁר־יָמ֨וּת בּ֥וֹ הִכָּ֛הוּ וַיָּמֹ֖ת רֹצֵ֣חַֽ ה֑וּא מ֥וֹת יוּמַ֖ת הָרֹצֵֽחַ׃
18
ἐὰν δὲ ἐν σκεύει ξυλίνῳ ἐκ χειρὸς ἐξ οὗ ἀποθανεῖται ἐν αὐτῷ πατάξῃ αὐτόν, καὶ ἀποθάνῃ, φονευτής ἐστιν · θανάτῳ θανατούσθω ὁ φονευτής ·

Si ligno percússus interíerit, percussóris sánguine vindicábitur.

ואם בכלי עץ־יד אשׁר־ימות בו הכהו וימת רצח הוא מות יומת הרצח
18
Or [if] he smite him with an hand weapon of wood, wherewith he may die, and he die, he [is] a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.

גֹּאֵ֣ל הַדָּ֔ם ה֥וּא יָמִ֖ית אֶת הָ־רֹצֵ֑חַ בְּפִגְעוֹ ב֖־וֹ ה֥וּא יְמִיתֶֽנּוּ׃
19
ὁ ἀγχιστεύων τὸ αἷμα, οὗτος ἀποκτενεῖ τὸν φονεύσαντα · ὅταν συναντήσῃ αὐτῷ οὗτος, ἀποκτενεῖ αὐτόν.

Propínquus occísi, homicídam interfíciet: statim ut apprehénderit eum, interfíciet.

גאל הדם הוא ימית את הרצח בפגעו בו הוא ימיתנו
19
The revenger of blood himself shall slay the murderer: when he meeteth him, he shall slay him.

גואל הדם הואה ימית את הרוצח בפוגע׳ו ב׳ו ]הוא ימית׳נ[ו ׃
20
וְאִם בְּ־שִׂנְאָ֖ה יֶהְדָּפֶ֑נּוּ אֽוֹ־הִשְׁלִ֥יךְ עָלָ֛יו בִּצְדִיָּ֖ה וַיָּמֹֽת׃
20
ἐὰν δὲ δι᾽ ἔχθραν ὤσῃ αὐτὸν καὶ ἐπιρίψει ἐπ᾽ αὐτὸν πᾶν σκεῦος ἐξ ἐνέδρου, καὶ ἀποθάνῃ,
20
Si per ódium quis hóminem impúlerit, vel iécerit quíppiam in eum per insídias:
20
ואם בשׂנאה יחדיפנו או־השׁליך עליו בצדיה וימת
20
But if he thrust him of hatred, or hurl at him by laying of wait, that he die;

א֣וֹ בְאֵיבָ֞ה הִכָּ֤הוּ בְיָדוֹ֙ וַיָּמֹ֔ת מֽוֹת־יוּמַ֥ת הַמַּכֶּ֖ה רֹצֵ֣חַֽ ה֑וּא גֹּאֵ֣ל הַדָּ֗ם יָמִ֛ית אֶת הָ־רֹצֵ֖חַ בְּפִגְעוֹ בֽ־וֹ׃
21
ἢ διὰ μῆνιν ἐπάταξεν αὐτὸν τῇ χειρί, καὶ ἀποθάνῃ, θανάτῳ θανατούσθω ὁ πατάξας, φονευτής ἐστιν · θανάτῳ θανατούσθω ὁ φονεύων · ὁ ἀγχιστεύων τὸ αἷμα ἀποκτενεῖ τὸν φονεύσαντα ἐν τῷ συναντῆσαι αὐτῷ.

aut cum esset inimícus, manu percússerit, et ille mórtuus fúerit: percússor homicídii reus erit: cognátus occísi statim ut invénerit eum, iugulábit.

או באיבה הכהו בידו וימת מות־יומת המכה רצח הוא גאל הדם ימית את הרצח בפגעו בו
21
Or in enmity smite him with his hand, that he die: he that smote [him] shall surely be put to death; [for] he [is] a murderer: the revenger of blood shall slay the murderer, when he meeteth him.

וְאִם בְּ־פֶ֥תַע בְּלֹא־אֵיבָ֖ה הֲדָפ֑וֹ אוֹ־הִשְׁלִ֥יךְ עָלָ֛יו כָּל־כְּלִ֖י בְּלֹ֥א צְדִיָּֽה׃

ἐὰν δὲ ἐξάπινα οὐ δι᾽ ἔχθραν ὤσῃ αὐτὸν ἢ ἐπιρίψῃ ἐπ᾽ αὐτὸν πᾶν σκεῦος οὐκ ἐξ ἐνέδρου,

Or with any stone, wherewith a man may die, seeing [him] not, and cast [it] upon him, that he die, and [was] not his enemy, neither sought his harm:

והצילו העדה את המכה מיד גאל הדם והשׁיבו אתו העדה אל־עיר מקלטו אשׁר־נס שׁמה וישׁב בה עד־מות הכהן הגדול אשׁר־משׁח אתו בשׁמן הקדשׁ

And the congregation shall deliver the slayer out of the hand of the revenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to the city of his refuge, whither he was fled: and he shall abide in it unto the death of the high priest, which was anointed with the holy oil.

Because he should have remained in the city of his refuge until the death of the high priest: but after the death of the high priest the slayer shall return into the land of his possession.

ne polluátis terram habitatiónis vestræ, quæ insóntium cruóre maculátur: nec áliter expiári potest, nisi per eius sánguinem, qui altérius sánguinem fúderit.

ולא־תחניפו את הארץ אשׁר אתם ישׁבים בה כי הדם הוא יחניף את הארץ ולארץ לא־יכפר לדם אשׁר שׁפך בה כי־אם בדם שׁפכו

So ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye [are]: for blood it defileth the land: and the land can not be cleansed of the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it.
